Ms. Huang Jingru never came home after she went to Beijing to mail truth-clarification letters on December 20, 2012. It wasn't until the beginning of March of this year that her family finally received a detention notice and an arrest approval notice from Beijing.
It was learned that Ms. Huang has been illegally detained at the Dongcheng Detention Center in Beijing for five months. In the third month of her detention, she went on a hunger strike, and has now become very weak. She has reportedly been hospitalized at the Beijing Police Hospital.
Subjected to persecution after benefiting from Falun Gong
Ms. Huang Jingru, 61 years old, is a retired worker from the Gold Mining Co., Ltd. in Jiapigou Town, Huadian City, Jilin Province.
She began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Before she learned the practice, she had many physical ailments, including congenital heart disease, cerebral vascular stenosis, gastric distention, and lumbar muscle degeneration. When she was only in her 40s her health was so bad that she often fainted. After she began practicing Falun Gong, her health quickly improved.
However, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Dafa in 1999. Practitioners were illegally arrested, jailed, tortured, and pressured to give up their belief.
Beginning in 2001, Ms. Huang started mailing letters to the central government and various local government offices, signing her real name, to clarify the truth about Falun Gong and call for an end to the persecution.
Suffering torture and extended detention at the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City
Between July and October 1999, Ms. Huang Jingru went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong four times. She visited Zhongnanhai, the central government compound, twice, and appealed once at the Central Appeals Bureau. After she was arrested, she was detained at the Xuanwu Detention Center for 13 days, and then sentenced to one year of forced labor at the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun.
At the labor camp, Ms. Huang was subjected to electric shock by guard Liu Lianying. Ms. Huang had been on hunger strike for over 20 days and was extremely weak. She was also tortured and abused by other methods, including the death bed, stretching torture, severe beatings, and forced labor.
Because she refused to give up her belief, Ms. Huang's detention was repeatedly extended. Due to the deplorable conditions in the labor camp, she developed scabies all over her body. Once, she fainted because of the heavy workload. When the doctor examined her, he could not find any pulse or blood pressure. The labor camp was afraid they would be held responsible if she died, so they released her in February 2000.
Persisting in clarifying the truth despite repeated detention
In the winter of 2001, Ms. Huang went to Beijing to appeal. She did not bring her ID. A police officer searched her bag and found Falun Gong materials and arrested her. She was detained for two years at a local labor camp, and was released on parole for medical treatment.
In the summer of 2002, she went to Beijing to appeal again, and was arrested at Tiananmen Square. The director of the local 610 Office went to Beijing to bring her back, and sent her directly to the Changchun Women's Forced Labor Camp. She was jailed there for eight months. Due to the torture she was subjected to there, Ms. Huang became very weak and her legs and feet became swollen. Later she was released on parole for medical treatment.
In July 2009, Ms. Huang went back to her hometown to commemorate the third anniversary of her father's funeral. At that time, police officers in Huadian City were actively arresting Falun Gong practitioners. She wrote a letter and gave it to the director of the city 610 Office in person, trying to persuade them to stop their evildoing. Days later, when she went to the Huadian Police Department to clarify the truth to the head of the Domestic Security Division, they detained her for 15 days. The 610 Office organized a brainwashing session specially for her.
In August 2010, when Ms. Huang was handing out truth-clarification materials with another practitioner, she was reported, arrested again, and detained for 15 days.
In 2011, she tried to hang up a three-meter-long banner right at the gate of the Police Department in Changchun, and was sentenced to two years of forced labor. She went on a hunger strike at the labor camp and was released after one month.
After Ms. Huang returned home, she learned that the practitioner who had been living with her had been arrested and sent to a labor camp as well. Ms. Huang went to the police department three times to clarify the truth and request the release of her fellow practitioner, but the police department refused. Next, she went to the provincial government to clarify the truth and request her friend's release, but was arrested there and sentenced to forced labor again. Liu Lianying, the head of the division that Ms. Huang was assigned to, had been exposed by Ms. Huang previously for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. When Liu saw Ms. Huang, she told her, “This time you belong to me! Let me spend two years with you!”
Since she is not a criminal and has broken no laws, Ms. Huang refused to follow the labor camp rules and refused to wear the prison uniform. As a form of punishment, Liu Lianying shocked her with an electric baton and beat her until her face swelled. Liu also slandered Dafa and cursed the founder of Falun Dafa, Master Li Hongzhi. Ms. Huang said, “You must apologize for slandering Dafa and my Master!” Liu Lianying refused to apologize, and instead continued to shout abusive words. After about 3 months, Ms. Huang was released when her life was in danger.
In September 2012, when Ms. Huang was placing a truth-clarification letter on a police car at the Mengjiatun Police Station, she was arrested and detained for 15 days. She was rejected by the detention center because her physical condition was so poor.
Ms. Huang was arrested again in December 2012 and has now been detained at the Dongcheng Forced Labor Camp in Beijing for five months. We call on kindhearted people, both in China and overseas, to help rescue her. She has been on a hunger strike for over two months and her condition is rapidly deteriorating.
