After Encountering Falun Dafa, My Life Became Wonderful

My name is Liu Jingxiu. I'm 60 years old, and I'm from Changchun City, Jilin Province. Nineteen years ago, I could not have imagined that today I would be lighthearted and healthy. I used to have heart disease, rheumatism, bronchitis, and neurosis. Whenever I got a headache, I went to bed in tremendous pain. I don't dare even recall that pain.

1994 is the year that I shall never forget. It was the year I encountered Falun Gong. Since then, just as others who have benefited from Dafa, my life has been so wonderful. Within about two months I regained my health. I began to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and was full of compassion for everyone.

In those days, the whole of Changchun was immersed in the peace and beauty of Falun Dafa. I shall forever remember those years when Buddha's light shone everywhere in Changchun.

The good times did not last long. On July 20, 1999, the Jiang regime started to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners who had been cultivating their hearts toward kindness. Many practitioners began appealing to the government as the law allowed, since they trusted the regime. They were treated unjustly and severely persecuted. I witnessed practitioners being arrested and taken away when they were appealing to the provincial authorities. From 2006 to 2009, I was illegally detained twice, subjected to forced labor, and incarcerated for telling others the facts of Falun Dafa.

Detained and Ordered to do Forced Labor

Around February 15, 2007, I was giving people information about Falun Gong when someone reported me. Two officers came in a police car. They grabbed my bag and took away my 100 yuan in cash. They took me to the Weizigou Detention Center at 10:30 p.m. and threatened to shave off all of my hair if I did not cooperate.

After being detained for 15 days, officer Sun of the Pudong Road Police Station took me to the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp. I was subjected to a year of forced labor. After a physical exam in the labor camp hospital, I was taken to the Second Brigade on the fifth floor. They took my photo against my will.

My son had called me before my arrest and told me that he would be home for the Chinese New Year. He had a lonely and miserable New Year because of my being illegally arrested.

The director of the Second Brigade was Liu Lianying. The political instructor was Yan Feng. Jia Hongyan was a guard. Jia frequently cursed me, saying I was nothing. Jia forced me to stand facing a wall, chopped off my hair, forced me to wear the inmate's uniform, and had people grab my hand to make a fingerprint.

On the second day in the camp, a doctor in the camp hospital tried to “transform” me. They gave me medicine, and watched until I swallowed it.

They forced me to take medicine and took my blood pressure daily. Jia pressured me to answer questions defaming Falun Dafa and forced me to press my fingerprint on a document. My blood pressure got higher and higher. One morning, my face was totally red. An inmate who was assigned to help the guards talked to Jia and took me downstairs to the clinic. I was shivering, and my teeth were chattering. They said that my condition was serious and took me to the China-Japan Union Hospital for a CT scan the next day. I was diagnosed with a brain cyst and was forced to take injections for two weeks in the Railway North Police Hospital.

I was released on April 10, 2007, after a total of 55 days: 15 days at the Weizigou Detention Center, 25 days at the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp, and 15 days in the Railway North Police Hospital.

Illegally Incarcerated for the Second Time

I was reported and arrested for giving out Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. I was taken to the Hongqi Police Station. Officer Li of the Domestic Security Division slapped my face three times. Four or five people grabbed me by my hair, pulled my legs and arms, and pinched my fingers, but they failed to take my fingerprint. I was again taken to the Weizigou Detention Center later that night. Because I did not give my name and other personal information, they instigated a prostitute to find a way to get that information from me.

On the eighth day, officers from the Hongqi Police Station handcuffed me, took me to the Yan'an Hospital for an exam, and then took me again to the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp. The labor camp refused to admit me after a physical in the camp hospital showed that I had high blood pressure. I was taken back to the Hongqi Police Station and released.

At 8:30 a.m. the next day, I was at another practitioner's home. We were reported, and six of us were arrested by officers from the Liuying Road Police Station. We were locked up separately and interrogated. A man from the 610 Office in his 50s punched my back twice and threatened that my family would be implicated or they would have my family punish me. I was pushed into a big room after 1:00 a.m. They threatened me again. After some time, an officer in his 30s came in. He let me go and asked me to come back later to sign paperwork. I got home after 2:00 a.m.
