(Minghui.org) Mr. Sun Jianfeng is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Zhongwei City, Ningxia Autonomous Region. It was learned that the Shapotou District Court in Zhongwei City secretly tried Mr. Sun and illegally sentenced him to a prison term of five years and four months.

In November 2012, after Mr. Sun had been imprisoned for eight months awaiting trial, his family received a notice that the Shapotou District Court had tried him on November 20 and sentenced him to five years and four months in prison. Even the lawyer the family had hired to defend Mr. Sun had not been informed of the trial date. Mr. Sun's family questioned Liu Wenhong, the presiding judge at the criminal court. Liu told them to see the president of the court. The family was ignored when requesting an appeal.

Mr. Sun, 40 years old, worked at the power supply section of Lanzhou Railway Bureau in Yinchuan City. On March 30, 2012, Mr. Sun and Ms. Huang Yuxia were visiting Ms. Chang Xiu'e. Li Jinjun, captain of Domestic Security Brigade in Zhongwei City, and Li Cunshan and a large contingent of policemen broke into Ms. Chang's home. They arrested the three practitioners and ransacked the apartment. They confiscated Ms. Chang's computer, printer, and personal belongings. The three practitioners were taken to Zhongwei City Public Security Bureau and interrogated.

Li handcuffed Ms. Huang Yuxia, brutally beat her, slapped her, and tortured her with the Tiger Bench torture method. That night Li and others illegally broke into and ransacked Ms. Huang's home. They confiscated Ms. Huang's computer, printer and personal belongings.

While held at the Zhongwei City Public Security Bureau, the police took the three practitioners to a local hospital for a “medical exam.” Ms. Huang was released on March 31 because of being of ill health. Ms. Chang was also released. Mr. Sun was held at the Zhongwei City Detention Center. After Minghui.org exposed the illegal arrests and detention, the police at the Zhongwei Domestic Security Brigade were infuriated and arrested Ms. Huang twice, and one time she was detained for 15 days.

On July 11, the Shapotou District Procuratorate charged Mr. Sun with so-called “undermining the implementation of the law with a cult organization.” Later the Shapotou Court approved Sun's family hiring attorney Wang to defend Mr. Sun. The trial date was set for August 10.

On August 10 Mr. Sun's family and friends arrived at the court and were told that the trial was postponed and that they would be notified of the next trial date.

Mr. Sun's family appealed at a number of government offices. No one took responsibility for Mr. Sun's case and they said that they lacked the authority concerning Mr. Sun. Mr. Sun suffered allergic attacks in the detention center. The guards force fed him drugs and knocked out several of his teeth. His family was very worried about his condition. As they were waiting for the new trial date, they received a notice that Mr. Sun had already been sentenced and his lawyer received threats from the judiciary.

In the past, Mr. Sun was had been held in a forced labor camp four times. He was forced to perform forced labor. The guards tortured and force fed him and monitored him around the clock. The guards handcuffed his hands behind his back and hung him up by the handcuffs for 72 days. When Sun was released from confinement, his legs could not bear his weight, he looked very disheveled and was mentally disoriented. He was bedridden for two months and even then he had difficulties moving around. His wrists still bear the scars from the torture.
