Additional Persecution News from China – June 23, 2012 (19 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties and in 9 provinces. In this report, 10 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Qin Shulan and Ms. Wang Arrested

Ms. Qin Shulan and Ms. Wang were arrested at home by officers from the Harbin Road Police Station in Development Zone on June 21, 2012. The police ransacked their home and confiscated photos of Falun Gong's Teacher, a printer, a computer, truth-clarification materials, and 34,000 yuan in cash.

2. [Yanbian Prefecture, Jilin Province] Ms. Lang Yanmei Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

Ms. Lang Yanmei was arrested on February 10, 2011, and taken to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp on March 4, 2011, to serve a one-year term. She was tied to a death bed for five days and forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. Because Ms. Lang remained steadfast in practicing Falun Gong, the labor camp authorities approved her arrest on May 18, 2012. Ms. Lang was sentenced to five years in prison and transferred to the Heizuizi Women's Prison.

3. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yang and Ms. Zhang Detained

Ms. Yang and Ms. Zhang were arrested and taken to the Beigang Town Police Station on June 21, 2012. They were later taken to the Qinhuangdao No. 2 Detention Center to serve 15-day detentions.

4. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Hou Huanfang Taken to the Zhengzhou Brainwashing Center on June 19, 2012

5. [Hebi City, Henan Province] Ms. Wang Baohua and Ms. Xing Weiwei Sentenced

On February 23, 2012, Ms. Wang Baohua and Ms. Xing Weiwei were sentenced by the Hebi City Court to five years and two years in prison, respectively.

6. [Wucheng County, Shandong Province] Mr. Jiao Xintian and Ms. Dong Fenghong Sent to Forced Labor Camps

Mr. Jiao Xintian was arrested on March 15, 2012. He was taken to the Jinan No. 2 Forced Labor Camp in April to serve a 13-month term.

Ms. Dong Fenghong was arrested on May 28, 2012. She was taken to the Jinan Forced Labor Camp to serve a one-year term.

7. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Jinyu Arrested

Plainclothes officers, who were monitoring Ms. Liu Jinyu from outside, broke into her home and arrested her on the morning of June 9, 2012.

8. [Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Jinghong Taken to the Jinan Forced Labor Camp

Mr. Zhang Jinghong from Taozhuang Town, Xuecheng District was arrested on May 21, 2012, and is being held at the Xuecheng Detention Center. On June 8, he was taken to the Jinan Forced Labor Camp.

9. [Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Qinggong Detained

Mr. Yang Qinggong from Taozhuang Town was arrested at his workplace by officers from the Taozhuang Town Police Station on or around June 12, 2012. He is being held at the Xuecheng Detention Center.

10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Additional Information on the Arrest of Mr. Wang Jilin and His Wife Ms. Han Lifeng

Mr. Wang Jilin and his wife, Ms. Han Lifeng, were arrested at home by officers from the Weizhou Road Police Station and the Kuiwen Police Department on April 26, 2012. The police ransacked their home, and the two practitioners were later taken to the Weifang Detention Center.

Mr. Wang was transferred to the Weifang City Brainwashing Center on May 25, 2012. After long periods of torture, including being tied to an iron chair, his legs became swollen and he had difficulty walking. On Jun 20, the Weifang City 610 Office and Weifang police secretly transferred Mr. Wang to the Zhangqiu Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Han's current whereabouts are unknown.

11. [Yanggu County, Shandong Province] Ms. Jiang Menghua Taken to a Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Jiang Menghua was arrested by officers from the Xihu Town Police Station on March 9, 2012. Ms. Jiang was taken to a forced labor camp.

12. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Macheng practitioners Ms. Xiong Youyi, Ms. Hu Xiuzhen, and Ms. Jiang Zhenghua were arrested by officers from the Macheng 610 Office, police, and domestic security team on June 20, 2012.

13. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xu Jinzhi Arrested in Mid-June 2012

14. [Pingquan County, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Wenshu Arrested

Mr. Liu Wenshu, 69, lives in Yuhuangmiao Village, Wolong Town, Pingquan County. While at his brother's home in Heishankou Village on May 21, 2012, Mr. Liu was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Pingquan County Police Department, that included Wang Xiaofeng and Mu Baomin. Mr. Liu was held at the Pingquan County Detention Center for nearly a month, and he was released on June 20.

15. [Tianjin] Ms. Liang Guiying and Ms. Zhang Helian Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor

Ms. Liang Guiying and Ms. Zhang Helian, both in their sixties, were reported to police for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Xujiatai Town, Ji County on May 31, 2012. They were arrested and their homes were ransacked. They were sentenced to one year of forced labor.

16. [Qingyang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Yang Mei and Another Practitioner Detained

Officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Huachi County Police Department arrested Ms. Yang Mei and another practitioner on June 3, 2012. The two practitioners are being held at the Huachi County Detention Center.

17. [Wugang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wei Xiuling Dies After Being Abused in a Brainwashing Center

On June 5, 2012, Sipo Village practitioners Ms. Wei Xiuling, 66, and Ms. Lu Yu, 63, were forced to attend brainwashing sessions held by officers from the Sipo Sub-office of the Wugang Political and Legal Affairs Committee and 610 Office. Ms. Wei returned home after four days of brainwashing. She died of heart attack on June 12.

18. [Nantong City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Wang Shengshu and Ms. Zheng Cuifang Held at the Nantong Detention Center

19. [Chaohu City, Anhui Province] Ms. Cai Chuanfen's Home Ransacked

Ms. Cai Chuanfen, 75, was arrested while handing out Falun Gong informational materials on June 18, 2012. The police ransacked her home and confiscated a computer, a printer, an MP3 player, a radio, a cellphone, Falun Gong books, Falun Gong informational materials, and more than 3,000 yuan in cash. The police attempted to send Ms. Cai to a detention center, but the detention center refused to admit her. The police released her after extorting 5,000 yuan from her daughter.
