Additional Persecution News from China – May 18, 2012 (Part I) (18 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 11 provinces. In the report, 8 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 19 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Jiang Chunyan Detained, Family Visits Not Allowed

Ms. Jiang Chunyan from Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, was taken to the Lucheng District Detention Center in Wenzhou City on January 21, 2012. Family visits have not been allowed so far.

2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Li Suguo Arrested

Mr. Li Suguo, a teacher at the Kongbu Middle School of Wangji Community, was recently arrested. No other information is available.

3. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zeng Shenming Sent to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Zeng Shengming was arrested at the Mengyang Town Market and taken to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center by Liu Zhengfang and other officers from Mengyang Town on the morning of May 5, 2012.

4. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yu Xuemei Taken to Xinjin Brainwashing Center

Ms. Yu Xuemei from Chengdu City was arrested at her workplace, the Chengdu Amusement Park, and taken to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center in Chengdu by agents from the Xinhonglu Police Station and the Xinhonglu Office of Chengdu on May 16, 2012. Ms. Yu had gone to her workplace to pick up her retirement pension.

5. [Changzi County, Shanxi Province] Mr. Liu Yunfang Imprisoned

Mr. Liu Yunfang from Qingfeng Village, Danzhu Town, Changzi County, is in his 50s. He was arrested by Li Xiaojian and other officers from the Changzi County Police Department on the morning of June 29, 2011. Mr. Liu was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison. He is being held in the Qi County Prison of Shanxi.

6. [Fuyu County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Lin Xiuhua and Two Other Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Lin Xiuhua from Fuyu County was arrested at home by officers from the Tiedong Police Station of Fuyu County on May 14, 2012.

Ms. Tong Yajuan and Ms. Gao were arrested at Ms. Gao's home on the morning of May 16, 2012. Ms. Gao's home was also ransacked by police.

7. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Shupei Arrested; Whereabouts Unknown

Ms. Wang Shupei from Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province, was arrested in Beijing at the end of March 2012. Her whereabouts are still unknown.

8. [Beijing] Ms. Luo Xiuqin Arrested; Home Ransacked

Over 20 officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Miyun County 610 Office in Beijing barged into Ms. Luo Xiuqin's home in Donggezhuang Village, Xitiangezhuang Town, Miyun County, and arrested Ms. Luo on May 7, 2012. They also ransacked her home.

9. [Quzhou County, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Tingbin Arrested and Detained

Mr. Wang Tingbin, from Tuan Village, Henan Province, was reported to police and arrested by officers from Jize County for speaking to people about Falun Gong in Zhangliugu Village, Jize County. He is being held in the Jize County Detention Center.

10. [Kunming City, Yunan Province] Mr. Su Kun and His Wife, Ms. Zhang Xiaodan, Detained

Mr. Su Kun and his wife, Ms. Zhang Xiaodan, were arrested at home by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Kunming Police Department in Panlong District on the morning of May 4, 2012. Their computers, Falun Gong books, informational materials about Falun Gong, cell phones, cash and other items were confiscated. Mr. Su is being held in the Panlong District First Detention Center, and Ms. Zhang is being held in the Panlong District Second Detention Center in Kunming.

11. [Chongqing] Ms. Duan Pingli and Ms. Huang Chongmei Arrested

Ms. Duan Pingli, 78, and Ms. Huang Chongmei, 76, from the Jiangbei District Qianwei Meters Factory in Chongqing were arrested by plainclothes officers for explaining the facts about Falun Gong on May 13, 2012. They managed to escape from police custody in the evening and came home safely.

12. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Luo Pei and Mr. Tang Jieying Detained

Mr. Luo Pei and Mr. Tang Jieying from Nanchang City were arrested by officers from the Hongcheng Grand Market Police Station in Nanchang for speaking to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of May 10, 2012. They are being held in the Nanchang First Detention Center.

13. [Chongqing] Ms. Wu Yurong, Ms. Li Jiemei and Other Practitioners Sent to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Wu Yurong, Ms. Li Jiemei and other practitioners were sent to the Yongchuan District Brainwashing Center on April 16, 2012.

14. [Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Zhou Yuxiu and Ms. Lei Jinying Detained

Ms. Zhou Yuxiu and Ms. Lei Jinying from Nanchang County were arrested by plainclothes officers for speaking about Falun Gong and handing out informational materials to vendors at a farmers' market. They were taken to the Nanchang County Detention Center, and their homes were ransacked.

15. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Liu Kaimei's Forced Labor Term Extended

Ms. Liu Kaimei from Nanjing City was arrested on May 16, 2011, and sent to a forced labor camp for one year term. She is being held at the Judong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Jiangsu for an extended term.

Ms. Liu's husband, Mr. Zhang Xuefeng, was also arrested on the same day and sent to a forced labor camp to serve an 18-month term. He was recently placed in solitary confinement and subjected to forced brainwashing in the Fangqiang Men's Forced Labor Camp.

In 2000, Mr. Zhang was sentenced to 7 years in prison, while his wife was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison.

16. [Qingyuan, Guangdong Province] Ms. Deng Hongyun and Mr. Wu Yongjian Arrested

Ms. Deng Hongyun was arrested and sent to the Sanshui Brainwashing Center by agents from the Lanzhou City Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office in Qingyuan at the beginning of March 2012.

Agents from the Lianzhou City Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office arrested Mr. Wu Yongjian on March 15, 2012. They confiscated all of the computers, inkjet printers, laser printers and DVD/CD burners from his store, as well as several thousand yuan in cash that he was carrying at the time.

17. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Hongping Arrested

Ms. Zhang Hongping from Wenquan, Xianning, was arrested on the afternoon of May 16, 2012 and held on the Tianzhao Farm.

18. [Shanghai] Ms. Lu Xiuli Held in Putuo District Mental Illness Prevention Hospital

Ms. Lu Xiuli from Zichang Road, Putuo District, is being held in the Putuo District Mental Illness Prevention Hospital of Shanghai and force-fed medicines every day. Her situation is urgent.
