(Minghui.org) One day, as the Lunar New Year approached, I was doing housework when someone knocked at my door. It was my neighbor. She said, "I would like to ask for your help. My husband and I are going to visit my daughter in Guangzhou for the New Year and I am wondering if it would be possible to leave the key to our apartment with you."
Since I was caught off guard, she immediately explained, "I would go to the person on the fifth floor first since I've known her longer than I've known you, but I think she is a little bit selfish. The person on the third floor is narrow-minded from my point of view. My husband and I, after thinking it over and over again, believe that you are kind and the only person whom we can trust and rely on. Hence we would like to ask you to do us this favor."
I said, "Trust is the most precious thing among people. I am glad that you trust me so much. Anything you want me to do, just say it." My neighbor said, "There are more than twenty plants in my apartment. Please water them and let in fresh air for a while every day." I said, "It's no problem. Don't worry about any household things. You can count on me. Have a happy New Year."
On the day they left for Guangzhou, my husband and I accompanied them to a taxi. While they were away, I went to their apartment every day to water the plants, circulate the air, clean up, and I also checked the tap-water and electricity every now and then.
After a few days, the neighbors called me from Guangzhou and told me the date they would return. I thought that the trip would be exhausting for them, so I filled their thermos bottles up with hot water, and after they arrived home, I prepared egg noodles and dumplings for them. It was nothing for me to do, but they were very touched and thanked me for keeping their home so clean, and for being so considerate of them. At that moment, the phone rang. It was their daughter, who was worried that they would be suffering from the cold weather in the Northeast region if they had nothing to eat soon after arriving home. My neighbor told her, "Don't worry. Our neighbor tended to our home very well and took care of all of our needs."
These neighbors go to Guangzhou for the Lunar New Year every year and each time they leave their key with me. One time, they bought a purse in Guangzhou as a thank-you gift for me. I had no choice but to accept it but I quietly left money in her home. She later returned the money to my husband when I was not at home. I told her, "Don't buy me anything. I like to help you from the bottom of my heart." She replied sincerely, "The trust between us is priceless. Our relationship is much closer than distant relatives. It is my blessing to have a good neighbor like you." Later, her daughter visited them with her children from Guangzhou for vacation. I bought the children some clothes and some of their favorite foods.
My neighbor enjoyed reading the truth-clarifying materials I gave her and often said that she always felt comfortable and pleasant when she got together with Falun Gong practitioners. She also said, "Please give me some truth-clarifying materials. I would like to help you distribute those materials. Nowadays there is no one but Falun Gong practitioners who tell the truth, and act and think in one and the same way. If everyone practiced Falun Gong, interpersonal relationships would improve and the society would stabilize."
One day I was chatting with her daughter. She said, "My mother once wanted to sell the apartment and buy a bigger one elsewhere. Now she has no thought of moving to another place because she is reluctant to leave such a good neighbor as you. She told me that it’s easier to find an apartment than a neighbor who practices Falun Gong!"
Let me introduce myself. I work for a corporation as an administrative cadre. Due to working hard I was praised as a "distinguished individual," not only by my division, but also by the province and city. My boss and colleagues praised me as a hard-working, caring, and amiable person.
In 1997, a community cadre told me about Falun Gong, including how good it is, and told me of its principles of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance."
On May 3, 1997, I went to a park and found a Falun Gong practice site. I joined the group, and on the fourth day of exercising, I clearly experienced a Falun rotating around my body while I was practicing the second exercise. My whole body became comfortable, light, and relaxed. At 11:55 p.m. on June 30, 1997, I felt something rotating in my head. Afterward all my ailments—from which I had seriously suffered for many years, including migraine, neurasthenia, and insomnia—were gone, and my brain was particularly clear. At that time I realized that Falun Gong was very miraculous. I recorded every experience I went through after I started to practice Falun Gong. Hence, I still remember the dates and times of all my experiences, though I won't enumerate them in detail here.
I practice the exercises and read Falun Dafa books every day. Meanwhile, I examine my actions and thoughts to find my shortcomings. I realized that my motivation to work hard before was to earn praise, honor, prestige, and so on. After practicing Falun Gong, I still worked hard but my mind changed. I realized that as Master tells us, I should do my work well while not competing with others. Therefore my heart remains unmoved and calm, and I ask for nothing in return no matter what work I do and how many good things I might do for someone else. After practicing cultivation, my mind and environment have become boundless, and the wonderfulness cannot be described with just a few words.
I didn't believe in qigong before and had been indoctrinated with nothing but atheistic theory. My conventional thinking was fundamentally changed by all kinds of extraordinary experiences after I began practicing cultivation. I realized that family and country have their own rules, the Earth rotating by itself has its own laws, and each cosmic body has to rotate according to its own orbit. Unchangeable truth and laws in the vast universe exist. Through my actual practice of cultivation, I have gradually and sincerely come to realize that the principles of Falun Dafa, Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance, is the absolute truth of the universe. It can purify the body, upgrade one's moral standard, and help people become healthy, selfless, noble, and good persons. This demonstrates the power of the Buddha Fa.
I would like to tell everyone that you are extremely fortunate to be able to encounter Falun Dafa. You should not believe the rumors from the evil Chinese Communist Party, but should instead listen to and understand the truth as soon as possible. I don't want your money and have no ulterior motives. What I want is to have you enlighten, as I did, to the true meaning of human life, and have a healthy, pleasant, and peaceful journey in the course of your life.
