(Clearwisdom.net) Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they too be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.
Head of Shenbeixin District Detention Center Zhang Jinsheng, political assistant Fang Mingyi and Yan Changhong accepted bribes and released a detainee prematurely. Zhang Jinsheng and Fang Mingyi were sentenced to 5 and 4 years of prison respectively.
Xuan Lanzhu, a Falun Gong practitioner at Shenyang City Xinchengzi Chemical Plant, was arrested by the 610 Office and taken to Shenbeixin District Detention Center on January 7, 2004. Fang Mingyi and officer Wu punched him in the chest several times, after which he coughed up blood. Fang tortured Mr. Xuan with a huge high-voltage electric shock baton. Fang and Wu stripped him of his clothes and shocked his sensitive areas with the baton, including his neck, armpits, chest, ribs and genitals. His flesh was also burned. After midnight, he was taken to the strict management team. The police cuffed his hands and feet to a single ring on the ground, restricting his movement. The police also ordered Qian Bin, a violent detainee, to watch him. He was cuffed like this for six days and nights and deprived of sleep. As soon as he closed his eyes, Qian Bin hit him.
For several years, many practitioners have been detained and persecuted at Shenbeixin District Detention Center. Xuan Lanzhu is only one case out of many.
