(Clearwisdom.net) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 27 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 23 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Additional Information on Ms. Long Zhuyun's Arrest

On August 15, 2011, police from Yinchuan City Police Department, Jinfeng District Police Department in Yinchuan, and Yinchuan City National Security Team went to Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Long Zhuyun’s home in Fenghua Residential Area, Xixia District, Yinchuan and arrested Ms. Long. She was then detained in Yinchuan Detention Center for over ten days.

2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Cheng Hongyuan Arrested

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cheng Hongyuan was arrested on August 15. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.

3. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Weidong and Others Arrested and Sent to Brainwashing Center

On the afternoon of August 17, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Weidong, in his 40s, was arrested by staff from Jilin City and Fengman District 610 Offices, including director Fan of Baishan Police Station in Jilin. His family was able to take him home after he was taken to Shahezi Brainwashing Center in Chuanying District, Jilin.

On August 18, 2011, practitioner Mr. Sun Yongmao from Tiexi Village, Erdao Township, Fengman District was arrested by staff from Jilin City and Fengman District 610 Offices, as well as police officers from Erdao Township Police Station. He is currently being detained at the Shahezi Brainwashing Center.

4. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information on Ms. Zhu Ruiqiu’s Arrest

On May 25, 2011, practitioner Ms. Zhu Ruiqiu from Hegang was arrested at a hotel when visiting her relatives in Beijing. She was later sentenced to three years of forced labor.

5. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Yajie Arrested

On the afternoon of August 18, practitioner Mr. Liu Yajie, an employee at the Water and Electricity Section of Suihua Railway Bureau, was called by his manager to go back to the office after going home. He was then ambushed by police officers from Harbin Railways Police Department. The officers searched his bag and confiscated truth-clarification VCDs and other pamphlets from his bag. They then arrested Mr. Liu and took him into custody.

6. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

On August 19, while Chuanying District Court in Jilin was holding a secret trial against Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Guiqin, other practitioners gathered near the court to send forth righteous thoughts. More than ten practitioners, including Ms. Fu Junli, Ms. Gao Yuxiang, Ms. Sui, and Ms. Chen were arrested by plainclothes police officers from the Chuanying District Police Department and Huangqitun Police Station in Chuanying District. Police then ransacked the homes of Ms. Fu and Ms. Gao.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuying and Ms. Zhang Guizhi Arrested

Practitioners Ms. Zhang Xiuying and Ms. Zhang Guizhi from Tonghe County, Harbin were arrested on the morning of August 19.

8. [Nong’an County, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhou Yanhua and Ms. Jiang Hongxia Arrested

Practitioners Ms. Zhou Yanhua and Ms. Jiang Hongxia were arrested and taken to the Zhongying Hotel Brainwashing Center.

9. [Zhangye City, Gansu Province] Mr. Li Guoxian Sentenced to Three and a Half Years in Prison

Practitioner Mr. Li Guoxian from Liujiagou Village, Zhangye City was arrested by Wang Shiying and other police officers from Zhangye City Police Department on March 29, 2011. Zhangye Court later held a secret trial against Mr. Li and sentenced him to three and a half years in prison.

10. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yan Jingqiu Arrested

On the evening of August 17, practitioner Ms. Yan Jingqiu from Qingdao was arrested when trying to clarify the truth of Falun Dafa to others. She is currently being detained at 67 Shaoxing Road, Qingdao, and is subjected to brainwashing tactics.

11. [Chongqing City] Ms. Zhao Kunbi Arrested

On July 20, practitioner Ms. Zhao Kunbi from Tangjiatuo Neighborhood, Jiangbei District, Chongqing was reported to the police after trying to clarify the truth of Falun Gong to Fu Jinxiu. Ms. Zhao was arrested and put in the Tieshanping Brainwashing Center.

12. [Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information on Mr. Zhang Yalin’s Arrest

Mr. Zhang Yalin, 60, from Zhanhe Forestry, Heihe was reported to police for posting truth-clarification posters on the mountain. He was arrested at home on the morning of August 15, 2011. Police confiscated a printer, a computer, a digital camera, several copies of truth-clarification materials, and a car worth more than 40,000 yuan (6,000 dollars). Mr. Zhang is currently being detained at the Zhanhe Forestry Detention Center.

13. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Wei Arrested

On the evening of August 17, Mr. Liu Wei was arrested by two plainclothes policemen from Ji’an City, Tonghua, as well as Director Yao of Ji’an National Security Team while near his home. He is currently being detained at Ji’an Detention Center.

14. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Additional Information on Mr. Cui Shuhuai’s Arrest

On June 25, 2011, practitioner Mr. Cui Shuhuai from Huludao City, Liaoning was arrested in Dalian. He is currently being detained at Yaojia Detention Center, Dalian.

15. [Xuanhua County, Hebei Province] Additional Information on Mr. Zhang Xinhua’s Arrest

On the evening of August 9, 2011, practitioner Mr. Zhang Xinhua in Xuanhua County, Hebei Province was arrested by police from Huangcheng Police Station, Xuanhua when telling people the truth of Falun Dafa. Police ransacked his home and confiscated Dafa books, a computer, and other stuff. He is detained in Zhangjiakou City Detention Center.

16. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yang Lijun Arrested

On July 22, 2011, practitioner Ms. Yang Lijun in Shenzhen was arrested and taken to Luohu Detention Center, Shenzhen. She was released on July 27.

17. [Chongqing City] Ms. Zhang Chang’ai Arrested

Practitioner Ms. Zhang Chang’ai in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, 71, was arrested by police from Lianglukou Police Station, Yuzhong District, on July 20, 2011, the 12-year anniversary of the beginning of the persecution. She was then detained in the Steel Institute Hostel Brainwashing Center for more than a dozen days.

18. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Persecution of Mr. Tang Wenwu and Ms. Kang Sulan

On August 18, 2011, Mr. Tang Wenwu, 70, and his wife Ms. Kan Sulan, in her 60s, both retirees of Sichuan Space Administration, were arrested for telling people the truth of Falun Dafa.

Since 2001, the East Renmin Road Police Station, Yanshikou Street Residential Committee, and Sichuan Space Administration have colluded to persecute him. They put him under house arrest for several years, sent 8 people to monitor him around the clock, and did not allow him to go out. During the period when he was under house arrest, his company also deprived him of his pension and canceled his benefits.

In September 2003, Director Li Daolin of Sichuan Space Administration asked Mr. Tang to come to his office. Eight people ambushed him and took him to a brainwashing center. Mr. Tang went on a hunger strike while at the brainwashing center. Under the stress of the brainwashing, his blood pressure climbed to 200. He was released a week later.

Mr. Tang was pressured to write a repentance statement, declaring that he would no longer practice Falun Gong. He eventually had a mental breakdown in March 2005 due to the brutal persecution and intense pressure.

Mr. Tang's wife, Ms. Kang Sulan, was arrested by police from South Renmin Road Police Station while grocery shopping at Qingshiqiao Market on January 15, 2004. She was detained at the Pi County Detention Center in Chengdu.

19. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Lu Jun, a Practitioner’s Family Member, Arrested

Mr. Lu Jun, 50, a family member of a practitioner in Suzhou, was arrested by the police from Wuzhong District Police Department, Suzhou on August 18, 2011. Over seven policemen from Wuzhong District Police Department and Mudu Police Station in Wuzhong District ransacked Mr. Lu’s home and confiscated a computer, two portable hard disks, and some Dafa books.

20. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhong Fengyan and Other Practitioners Persecuted at Chatou Forced Labor Camp

As of the middle of August 2011, seventeen practitioners are currently being persecuted in Chatou Forced Labor Camp, Guangzhou. They are: Mr. Zeng Libo, Ms. Zhong Fengyan, Mr. Gu Zhiming, Ms. Liu Yu’er, Ms. Hou Yueping, Ms. Luo Chunhong, Ms. Xu Hongxia, Ms. Li Jing, Ms. Zheng Yingying, Ms. Deng Jinlian, Ms. Liang Huixian, Ms. Wu Liwan, Ms. Zhang Runchuan, Ms. Ren Qiuhong, Ms. Wang Zhen, as well as others.

21. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Naxi Brainwashing Center Torturing Practitioners

Luzhou City 610 Office set up a prison in Naxi Sanitary Ware Factory to brainwash and torture Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. He Shifang (in her seventies), Ms. Tang Tianmin (in her fifties), Ms. Wang Guizhen, and Mr. Li Zhongming.

22. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Four Innocent Senior Women Facing Court Trials

On the evening of May 3, 2011, practitioners Ms. Yang Yazhi, Ms. Xu Lihua, Ms. Sun Shuxia, and Ms. Guo Feng in Yushu were arrested for distributing truth-clarification materials about Falun Dafa. They were detained for over one hundred days. The Yushu City 610 Office directed the Yushu Court to orchestrate a trial for these four seniors on August 23.
