(Clearwisdom.net) Being a Falun Dafa practitioner, I tell people the facts about Falun Gong no matter where I am. I have also seen those who understood the truth receive blessings. When I was illegally held in a detention by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), I clarified the truth to the detainees as well. I asked them to recite “Falun Dafa is good,” and to continue to do so after they were released. They promised they would not forget, and some even said they wanted to practice Falun Gong after their release. I'd like to share the following stories.
1. A gang member from Guizhou Province was very stubborn. She would not confess to anything no matter how the guards interrogated or beat her. Therefore she was detained nearly six months without a sentence. After I shared with her the teachings of Falun Dafa on why we should be good people, she decided to change her behavior. Later when she was brought to court, she confessed to everything she did, including the operations of the theft ring. The guards were very surprised and asked her what made her change her mind. She replied, “My cell mate is a Falun Gong practitioner. She is kind and honest, and teaches us to be good people. I think Falun Gong's teachings are good and I want to live a new life.”
I met an accountant from Nanjing. She falsified bookkeeping records and embezzled money from the company. After we met, I shared with her the principles of “good deeds and bad deeds have their consequences,” and that the gods can see our actions. I said we should not act against our conscience and we should have work ethics. She realized she should change her behavior, and told the investigator that she wanted to pay everything back and make up for her mistakes. As a result, the investigator went easy on her.
2. One of the detainees was a thug and a drug addict. She was big and rough and was often directed by the “head of detainees” to beat and bully new detainees. The guard that arraigned her was very mean. After she was detained, he did not help her contact her family, thus, no one brought her money or clothes.
I taught her to recite “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance are good; and Teacher is good.” I urged her to conduct herself according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, and not to commit bad deeds, hit people, or take drugs, since all those things are harmful to herself and her family. She accepted my suggestions and said she plans to practice Falun Gong after her release. When being monitored, she would close her eyes and recite “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance are good, and Teacher is good.”
One time, she was ordered to give a new detainee a hard time. I glanced at her when she took the new person to the bathroom. She nodded and smiled at me, as if telling me she knew what she was supposed to do. Later she told me that she only yelled, but did not hit the new person or make her take a cold shower. She became nicer and stopped fighting with others. In the past, she was very mean, and would beat others or force them to take cold showers.
Her blessings came one after another. When she was taken to court, the two guards who took her were quite gentle. Her family owns a business and are not usually home during the day. One day they had to go home to get something and ran into the guard who happened to be looking for them. This way the guard was able to bring her some money and things from her family. As practitioners, we understand that there are no coincidences in life. Because she understood the truth and had righteous thoughts about Falun Gong, Teacher arranged everything for her. Very soon, she was sentenced to probation and could soon go home. She hugged me with joy, and called out with excitement, “Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is good!” She said she planned to practice Falun Gong after returning home, and wouldn't take drugs and would be a good person.
3. The “number two head of detainees” was part of a smuggling ring. She had been held in detention for eight months without an arraignment and was very anxious. She claimed she was innocent but could not appeal. She liked to take advantage of others and felt she was privileged. During meal time, she kept the better dishes for herself. The hot water supply was very tight, especially during winter. Everyone got one cup of hot water per day for consumption and personal use. She would keep most of the hot water for herself as the “head of detainees” and gave others just one little scoop, and those whom she disliked, she would only give them half a scoop or none.
When I clarified the truth to others, I noticed she wanted to listen too. So I found opportunities to talk to her. I urged her not to bully others, and conduct herself based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. I taught her to recite “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance are good.” She liked to listen and recite the phrases. She began to watch her behavior and stopped mistreating others. She no longer rationed more for herself, especially hot water. Because she changed her behavior, the atmosphere in the cell changed as well. People treated each other better and there was less tension, yelling, and beatings.
Very soon, she was called for an arraignment. She was very happy to have a chance to tell the guards she was wrongly accused and wanted to be released soon.
4. A ticket scalper from Changzhou was released from detention after understanding and accepting the truth about Falun Gong. She realized that scalping tickets was wrong and that she should not profit from it. She learned that one should conduct oneself according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.
A woman from Jingjiang was detained for stealing expensive clothing. After she learned about Falun Dafa, she realized what she did was wrong. She sincerely recited “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance are good.” She even promised Teacher that she wouldn't make the same mistake and would be a good person. She was released very soon after that.
A detainee owed someone money. In order to avoid repaying her debt, she secretly moved to another place before her arrest. After I clarified the truth to her, she knew she could not continue to live like that. She understood the principles of “good deeds and bad deeds have their consequences,” and that the gods are watching everything we do. She told the investigator that she would repay all the debts she owed and wouldn't make the same mistakes. She was quickly released.
Another detainee accused of fraud who was somewhat educated understood the facts and that Falun Dafa is good. She nodded in agreement that she should not commit fraudulent acts and was released shortly after that.
5. A Christian from an underground church became our cell mate. After I talked to her about Falun Gong, she noticed that I was a trustworthy person and thought that Dafa was good because of the way I behaved.
She was treated poorly when she first arrived. I was the only person who was kind to her, and since she did not have anything, I gave her what I had. Since I conducted myself as a practitioner, was kind to everyone, and clarified the truth earnestly, the environment was good, people were friendly to me and treated me with respect. She trusted me and came to understand that Falun Gong was a righteous cultivation practice. Thus, she meditated with me. She said that after her release she would visit me at my house and learn the exercises.
There were many detainees who were deaf and mute. Many of them belonged to a theft ring. They received a lot of money from their gang members on a monthly basis, thus, they lived comfortably while in the detention center. I clarified the truth by writing to them. I wrote to them a lot every day and helped them understand Dafa. I also mentioned that the money they lived on was obtained immorally. They wrote back and said that they knew that Dafa was good because of my behavior. They realized that they had no future belonging to the theft ring. Two of them said they wanted to begin a new life after their release, perhaps establishing a store or a business, and they would quit stealing.
I was later taken to a forced labor camp where I continued to clarify the truth. Some of the inmates who were assigned to monitor me had backaches, amnesia, or stomach pains. After I told them the truth about Falun Dafa and they followed my advice to recite “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance are good,” their ailments disappeared. Because I refused to cooperate with the persecution, I was held in solitary confinement. One day an inmate “in charge of monitoring fellow inmates” from another group made a mistake. A guard who understood the truth about Dafa took her to my confinement room, and said to her, “You should learn something from this Falun Gong practitioner. They conduct themselves better than you.” I kindly shared with her why we should be good people. She kept wanting to listen and did not want to leave the room.
From the changes that I have seen in these people, I can tell that Falun Dafa “benefits the people and the nation.” I sense Teacher's boundless compassion and the infinite power of Falun Dafa.
