(Clearwisdom.net) I went to a group Fa study the other day and met Practitioner A. I was very impressed with her faith in Master and respect for the Fa. Someone said she had mi xin (blind faith). She said, “Being in the maze, I have faith in Master and Dafa, and I follow whatever Master tells me.” These simple words carry strong righteous thoughts. While she studied the Fa, she sat with her legs crossed and held the Dafa book in front of her chest with both hands; her fingers never touched the words.
I remember when Practitioner B developed some doubts about Master and Dafa. She thought that Gods and Buddhas should all manifest divine powers during Master's Fa teachings to show that the Fa is real. We read Zhuan Falun with her. Master said,
“Many people practice cultivation by way of enlightening. If you demonstrate all your abilities to them, they will see that everything is real and all will come to practice cultivation. People who have committed unpardonable evils will also come to practice cultivation, and this is not permitted.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)
“If a Buddha shows up in real life before people’s eyes and teaches them both Fa and the exercises, even those with unforgivable sins will come to learn. Everyone will believe it. Then, what’s there for people to be enlightened to? There will not be an issue of enlightenment.” (Lecture Three, Zhuan Falun)
After Practitioner B understood these Fa principles, she gradually realized the essence and format of cultivation and let go of her attachment.
Practitioner A clearly understands that what Master said is definitely right and she has unconditional faith in Master and Dafa. This is like Milarepa's faith in his master—he believed that everything his master told him to do must be right, so he followed his master's order to repeatedly build and destroy a stone house.
I believe that faith in Master and Dafa is based on studying the Fa and cultivation of one's mind nature, or xinxing. Only with respect for Master and the Fa will one be able to study the Fa well; only by studying the Fa well can one have determined faith in Master and Dafa. Only through Fa study can one untie each knot in his mind and gradually elevate his initial perceptual understanding to a truly rational understanding of the Fa, and can his righteous belief and righteous thoughts be sustained. While studying the Fa we may have questions and unclear understandings, but we must enlighten based on our faith in Master and Dafa.
In “Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference,” a student asked:
“Question: I have read Zhuan Falun from cover to cover repeatedly, but still can't get the inner meanings that have to do with Fa-rectification. Is it because my comprehension is too poor?”
Regarding this issue, some practitioners think that Master's lectures not only explain Zhuan Falun, but also supplement Zhuan Falun. That is a wrong understanding that can seriously affect one's faith in Master and Dafa. Didn't some who said Zhuan Falun is not complete go astray, believing in the "Unabridged Fa" and "Lecture Ten?"
Answering the above question, Master said:
“Teacher: If you want to see words in Zhuan Falun discussing the Fa-rectification things I'm telling you to do today, you'll never see them. As a cultivating Dafa disciple, a Dafa disciple of the Fa-rectification period, when it comes to what you should do, you can comprehend that from Zhuan Falun and you can grasp it from the Fa's truths. Not only can you comprehend things to that extent, regarding what to do specifically and how you can do well, as you continue to read the book more you'll be able to even see the things of the next stage--it can still point those things out to you.” (“Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference,” in 2003)
As a cultivator, no matter how much one enlightens to or sees, one is still in the maze and has yet to totally understand the boundless Fa principles. The test of faith exists up through the final step of cultivation, so we should not have poor comprehension. Actually, I have not done well in many aspects. I have studied Zhuan Falun several hundred times, and hope that each time I read will be as sacred and pious as the first time I listened to Master lecture. As I study Zhuan Falun I have the sacred feeling of facing layers upon layers of Buddhas and Gods, and the magnificent feeling of Master's presence.
Respecting Master and Dafa is not just a surface formality or limited to following forms. Following Master's words, believing in Master and Dafa, and fulfilling what Master wishes are what Dafa disciples should do.
In fact, we should be ashamed that we are still talking about such fundamental issues as faith and respect for Master and Dafa today, at the end of Fa-rectification. When there is no need to discuss this and Master no longer has to teach the Fa on this, it means we will have reached the best cultivation state regarding this.
