(Clearwisdom.net) Mother brought Liang Li inside, took out a copy of a large print hardcover of Zhuan Falun, and told her, “Just read this book; before you understand anything, don’t talk too much.” Liang Li did what Mom told her to. She knew the book must be very precious because Mom already had a copy of the paperback version of Zhuan Falun.

Liang Li’s mother Liu Xiuwen is a retired instructor at the Chengdu City Institute of Electronic Technology in Sichuan Province. Before practicing Falun Gong, she used to suffer from gallstones and they often hurt so much that she rolled on her bed all night. After she began practicing Falun Gong in 1996, the gallstones never bothered her again. A few days before Liang Li’s 23rd birthday in October, 1997, mom gave her the precious book, Zhuan Falun.

She wants to hold the precious treasure all the time

Ms. Liang used to love shopping and dancing with friends. Yet, as soon as mom gave her Zhuan Falun, she fell in love with the book and finished reading it within one day. She felt that every part of her, including her soul was deeply touched by the book. Starting the next day, she began to read Zhuan Falun word by word respectfully. The more she read, the broader the content of the book was to her; she felt as if there were priceless and endless treasures hidden in the book waiting to be discovered. From then on, whenever Master's new lectures came out, mom brought them home to share with her.

Ms. Liang joined mom every morning to practice the exercises at 5:30 with a local group. Every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, she joined the group Fa study at a nearby elementary school. She recalled that back then there were many practitioners in Sichuan Province. In one college, about forty to fifty practitioners practiced the exercises together every morning. The passage way in the corridor was packed with practitioners. Before they started, the practitioners greeted and chatted with one another, but as soon as the music began, everybody was quiet, and practiced harmoniously. Every week, they studied the Fa together attentively. It still touches her heart whenever she remembers those days.

The broad-mindedness of practitioners

In 1998, a friend of hers introduced her to her current husband who is from Taiwan. Half a year later, Liang married her husband, and moved to Taiwan where she lives with her husband and mother-in-law. Later they had a son and daughter. Liang’s husband has an elder sister, younger brother and a younger sister. The elder sister’s family eats with them every day. Her entire family relied on one income, and hence her family’s financial situation was not very good. Nevertheless, she did not care, but often cooked very delicious food for everyone. Her positive attitude left her husband’s family and relatives with a very good impression. She also used every opportunity to clarify the truth about Dafa to them.

Ordinary people also know that Falun Dafa is good

Ms. Liang respects her husband and she always takes good care of her family. She said, “This is all because of Falun Gong. Had I not practiced Falun Gong, I would not have had such a broad mind to be compassionate and help people.”

After the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, however, her husband told her, “Maybe you should stop.” She told her husband, “Falun Gong teaches people to be good. The CCP (Chinese Communist Party) is full of lies, and you should not be deceived by them.” Her husband replied, “If you want to practice, I’m fine with it.” One day, Ms. Liang left her copy of Zhuan Falun on the sofa. While doing chores, she noticed her husband holding the book with both hands and gently putting it on the table before laying his head onto one of the arms of the sofa. Happily she realized that although her husband had not begun cultivating in Dafa, he had learned how precious it was.

Showered in Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, Children’s morals are high

Ever since her children began to learn to talk, Liang told them stories of people who followed Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. She used to have lots of conflicts with her elder daughter. For example, when she told her daughter to clean up her room, her daughter replied, “No, I don’t want to.” Through studying the Fa, and sharing with fellow practitioners, Liang found out her weakness. She said, “I used to like to use power to make her comply; you have to listen to me. By doing so, I completely disregarded how she felt, and I also failed to think of her.” After understanding the issue from the perspective of the Fa, Liang was able to let go and no longer gave commands. After she changed, her daughter also changed, and she even cleaned up her own room without being told to do so. One day her daughter asked her, “Mom, recently, I noticed sometimes I was really upset with something, but I could not get angry at all. Do you know why?” She told her daughter, “It is a very good phenomenon; after your xinxing improved, the demonic factors could not reach you anymore.”

Brief introduction to Falun Gong

Founded by Master Li Hongzhi, Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a traditional Chinese spiritual discipline for mind and body. The practice involves slow, gentle movements and meditation. It is easy to learn, enjoyable to practice, and free of charge. Its principles are based on Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The practice began in China in 1992 and quickly spread by word of mouth throughout China and then beyond. Its beneficial effects in uplifting an individual's physical, mental, and spiritual health, not to mention its positive influence in the community and society as a whole, have been undeniable. In fact, Falun Gong is practiced by over 100 million people in 60 countries. The main works of Falun Gong are available in over 30 languages.

On July 20, 1999, the CCP launched a brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Since the start of the persecution, Falun Gong practitioners throughout the world have been constantly speaking out about the truth of Falun Gong and exposing the CCP's crimes in a tireless effort to end the persecution.
