(Clearwisdom.net) After reading the article “Mr. Sun Changjun, Imprisoned Nine Years for Intercepting Cable TV Broadcasts, In Need of Immediate Aid” (http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/10/24/128957.html), I couldn't hold back my tears. In 2002, China was going through the most severe period of persecution. Dafa practitioners in Mainland China broke through layers and layers of obstacles, and successfully broadcast the facts about Falun Gong in Changchun, Jilin Province on March 5. This great act of bravery shocked China and the world. Chinese people in Changchun were able to learn the truth about the persecution.
Afterwards, Falun Gong practitioners had extensive discussions about what happened. Most people thought that this was an act of righteous thoughts and righteous action; this was a magnificent act consistent with the Fa principles. Some practitioners thought that this was interference to the normal state of life of ordinary people. Some even said that the TV viewers paid for the service; without their permission we should not have broadcast the program as it showed disrespect to the TV viewers and might frighten them.
This lack of understanding and righteous thoughts was exploited by the evil. As a result, the practitioners who participated in the broadcast were severely tortured. Even today, some practitioners still believe that the persecution of those who died for their participation in the broadcast was brought upon them by their own attachments. Maybe these practitioners forgot that all Dafa disciples are one body. Under tremendous pressure and extremely difficult conditions, it was admirable that the practitioners were able to achieve the broadcast. Even if they had shortcomings and attachments, we cannot allow the evil to persecute them. We cannot be confused between friend and foe. What has our lack of righteous thoughts brought to the practitioners who participated in the broadcast? What has our passivity and indifference caused for these practitioners?
Since the Chinese Communist Party took over the country, Mainland Chinese people have lived in a distorted state. What's shown on TV is largely glorification of the Chinese Communist Party, programs with sexual content, or other material without any depth. The broadcast of the facts about the persecution was a way to restore people's right state of living. People paid for the TV programming so they should be able to learn the facts. They should have the opportunity to be saved. When we truly calm our hearts and measure things with Dafa, we can see what is a normal state of living for ordinary people and what is distorted. We are Dafa disciples. We are playing a lead role in the world. Every word and action of ours should be examined using Fa principles, instead of ordinary people's notions or preferences.
As I write this, the practitioners involved in the TV broadcast are still suffering in prison. Can we just let the old forces run rampant? We should actively use the fact that they are still detained to clarify the facts, eliminate the evil, and save sentient beings. How can we accuse fellow practitioners of having omissions whenever practitioners encounter problems? Aren't we accepting the persecution? Where are our righteous thoughts? We should first look inward whenever we see a problem. Everything Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples encounter may be an opportunity to cultivate, clarify the facts, and save people.
