(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 25 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 32 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Ms. Wang Zhaofeng, in her 70s, is a retired chief nurse. On May 18, 2010, she was arrested when she left her home; it was then ransacked.
3. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Suping Arrested
On the morning of May 21, 2010, officers from the West Yuhua Road Police Station went to Ms. Wang Suping's workplace, the Shangdetang Elderly Supply Store, at S. Zhonghua Street in Shijiazhuang City, and arrested her. They sent her to the North Shengli Street Police Station in Shijiazhuang City.

4. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Several Practitioners Detained at Xishan Brainwashing Center
Shortly before April 25, 2010, local police arrested several practitioners and they were taken to the Xishan Brainwashing Center. Four practitioners are still being detained there: Ms. Huang Zhiping from Gaoping District, Mr. Li Guanghu from Nanbu County, Mr. Li Shuqing from the Xinghua Life Insurance Company in Nanbu County, and Ms. Tang Guizhen from Shunqing District.

5. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] More Information on Arrest of Ms. Wang Xianghong and Ms. Hu Guixiu
Ms. Wang Xianghong, 41, is an employee of the Lishang Oil Company in Lilong County, Sichuan Province. Ms. Hu Guoxiu, 57, lives at Zhentai Road, Nanchong City. On April 23, 2010, when the two practitioners were clarifying the truth to people in Gaoping District, Nanchong City, they were reported to the authorities and arrested by officers from the Jiangdong Shuishang Police Station. At around 2:30 p.m. that day, several police officers from the Jiangdong Shuishang Police Station and Zhang Shixin, the head of the local residential committee, broke into Ms. Hu's home and ransacked it. The two practitioners were detained at the Huafeng Detention Center in Nanchong City.

6. [Chongqi] Elderly Practitioner Mr. Chen Yaolin Persecuted
Mr. Chen Yaolin, nearly 70 years old, is a practitioner from Chongqi. In November 2007, he was arrested by the police from the Youyang County, Chongqi and from Hunan Province, and his home was ransacked. The police from Hunan Province brutally tortured Mr. Chen. He was fed only small amounts of food and deprived of sleep and going to the restroom. He was also forced to kneel down on the ground for long periods of time. The inmates were ordered to torture him daily. Mr. Chen was later transferred to the Yongchuang Prison in Chongqi.
7. [Xiangshan County, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Li Xilan Arrested
On May 12, 2010, when Ms. Li Xilan was clarifying the truth to people in the Gongyeyuan area, she was arrested. She is being detained at the Xiangshan County Detention Center.
Another elderly female practitioner used to be detained in Shanghai but was sent back to Xiangshan County before the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Because she has high blood pressure, the detention center refused to admit her. She is being detained at the Haixing Hotel, 211 Danhe Road, Xiangshan County.

8. [Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Huaping Sent to a Brainwashing Center Again
On May 18, 2010, Ms. Zhang Huaping, from the Hubei Industry University, was arrested and sent to a brainwashing center.
9. [Shan County, Shandong Province] Police Arrest and Extort Money from Two Practitioners
On April 19, 2010, the police arrested Ms. Xiao Min, a practitioner from Guicun Town in Shan County, and she was detained at the Guocun Town Police Station. The next day, the police from the Guocun Town Police Station arrested a female practitioner in her 70s, and she was also detained at the Guocun Town Police Station. Her home was ransacked that afternoon.
The police extorted money from the families of the two practitioners and threatened to sentence them both to forced labor if they refused to pay. Their families had no choice but to give the police the money. Both practitioners are home now.

10. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Police Harass Mr. Xu Jianping
On the morning of May 19, 2010, Mr. Xu Jianping was followed to his mother's home. That afternoon, when he went to work, officers from the Yanxi Road Police Station went to his workplace and demanded that he go to the police station, but he refused. They stayed by the gate of his workplace and monitored him.

11. [Luanping County, Hebei Province] More Information on Persecution of Ms. Gao Shuzhen and Ms. Wang Haiyan
On May 5, 2010, Ms. Gao Shuzhen and Ms. Wang Haiyan were sent to the women's prison at Shitong Road in Luquan City, Hebei Province from the Beijing Daxing Dispatch Center. Their families planned to visit them on May 21, 2010, but they received notice that the practitioners had been transferred.
12. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ren Guiqin and Ms. Yuan Xiurong Sent to Brainwashing Center
On May 19, 2010, local police arrested Ms. Ren Guiqin and Ms. Yuan Xiurong, both from Xinbin Town, Xinbin County, Fushun City, and they were taken to the Luotaishan Brainwashing Center in Fushun City.

14. [Anqiu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Shao Qian Arrested After Her Mother, Ms. Gao Xiumei Arrested
On May 17, 2010, the police from the Anqiu City Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Gao Xiumei. On the morning of May 19, 2010, they arrested her daughter, Ms. Shao Qian. The mother and daughter are being detained at the Dashan Brainwashing Center.
15. [Urumqi City, Xinjiang Province] Ms. Ma Shuzhi Arrested
Ms. Ma Shuzhi, in her 60s, is a practitioner from Urumqi City. On the afternoon of May 18, 2010, she was arrested by the police and her home was ransacked.
16. [Fucheng County, Hebei Province] Elderly Practitioner Threatened for Listening to Songs Composed by Practitioners
Ms. Wu Guiying, in her 70s, is a practitioner from Boxuan Village in Cuimiao Township, Fucheng County, Hebei Province. On May 11, 2010, while taking the train to Wuhu City to visit her daughter, Ms. Wu was listening to songs on a tape recorder. When the security officers on the train found out that the songs were composed by Falun Gong practitioners, they confiscated her tapes and threatened her. They also questioned her for a few hours and searched her bag, confiscating 400 yuan from the bag.
17. [Yilong County, Sichuan Province] More Information on Persecution of Ms. Li Suhua and Her Husband, Mr. Luo Tianjin
On the morning of April 18, 2010, while Ms. Li Suhua and Mr. Luo Tianjin were clarifying the truth to people in Tonggu County, an elementary student reported Ms. Li to the authorities. Chen Liangxi, the director of the Tumen Police Station, and several police officers arrested her. Mr. Luo managed to escape. The police went to their home and ransacked it. They confiscated many Falun Gong materials and deceived Mr. Luo into going to the police station, where he was arrested. The next day, the couple was sent to a detention center. Seven days later, Mr. Luo was released and the police told him that his wife would be released in 12 days. However, on the evening of April 29, he received a notice that Ms. Li had been sentenced to one year of forced labor. On May 7, 2010, Ms. Li was sent to the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp but the labor camp refused to accept her. The police brought her back to the detention center. Ms. Li's family managed obtain her release on May 18, 2010, but they had more than 30,000 yuan extorted from them.

On May 26, 2010, the Qiqihar Railway Court held a hearing for cases involving Ms. Li Zhimin, Mr. Zheng Hongjun and Mr. Wang Yongcheng (Ms. Li's husband, who is not a practitioner).
19. [Dongfeng County, Jilin Province] Ms. Dai Shuli Arrested
On May 20, 2010, when Ms. Dai Shuli was distributing truth-clarifying materials, she was reported to the authorities. Han Hui, the director of the Dongfeng County Domestic Security Division and other police officers arrested her and then ransacked her home. They also confiscated her child's computer.
20. [Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province] Police from Hailin City Third Police Station Arrested Mr. Liu Yunxiang and Ransacked His Home on the Morning of May 21, 2010
21. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhao Yuxia Sent to Heilongjiang Women's Prison
At the beginning of April 2010, Ms. Zhao Yuxia was tried for a second time. On May 12, 2010, she was sent to the Heilongjiang Women's Prison.
22. [Tianjin] 10 Practitioners Arrested in Wuqing District
On the evening of May 20, 2010, ten practitioners from Wuqing District went to Qiying Village in Matou Town, Anci District, Langfang City, Hebei Province to make truth-clarifying materials. They were all arrested and detained at the Matou Town Police Station. The practitioners arrested include: Mr. Yang Yusuo, Ms. Zhang Huizhi, Mr. Yang Yuyou, Ms. Jia Jianchun, Ms. Gao Zhongxiu, Mr. Yang Yukuan, Ms. Wang Guangqin, Mr. Yang Xueshuang, Ms. Jin Haihan and Ms. Zhen Xuehui.

23. [Anqiu City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Xianzhang and Ms. Yu Dongchun Arrested
Officers from the Jiage Police Station arrested Mr. Zhang Xianzhang on May 18, 2010, and Mr. Yu Dongchun on May 19, 2010. They are being detained at the Danshan Brainwashing Center.
24. [Tonghe County, Heilongjiang County] Elderly Ms. Jiang Shuyuan Sentenced to Forced Labor
Ms. Jiang Shuyuan, in her 60s, is from Nonghe Town, Tonghe County. On April 1, 2010, while cooking at home, she was arrested by officers from the local police station and from the Tonghe County Police Department, and detained in a detention center for 25 days. She was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor and sent to the Qianjin Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Yang Meifang is over 50 years old. On May 18, 2010, she was arrested while clarifying truth to people by officers from the Hedong Police Station and taken to the Nanhuochang Detention Center.
27. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yang Miao Taken Away by Officials from His Workplace on May 21, 2010, Shortly after His Release from Labor Camp; His Whereabouts Are Unknown
28. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liang Ruimei Arrested
On May 16, 2010, Ms. Liang Ruimei was arrested at her home in Zhupansan Village, Huanghua Town, Zhucheng City. The police also confiscated 500 yuan in cash and two cell phones.
28. [Laixi City, Shandong City] Local Police Arrest Mr. Zhao Xifa
Mr. Zhao Xifa from Choujiazhuang Village, Wubei Town, Laixi City, called his home and told his family that he would be released on May 17, 2010. On May 16, 2010, his family went to the labor camp; however, he had been transferred somewhere else. The family went to the local office to look for him, but the police told them that Mr. Zhao was in Qingdao City or Laixi City and had been taken there because he had to "study" for 20 days to two months.
29. [Suning County, Hebei Province] Elementary School Teacher Mr. Yang Guangle Harassed
Mr. Yang Guangle is an elementary school teacher at the Zhainan Elementary School in Chengguan Town, Suning County. In March 2010, while distributing Falun Gong materials, he was filmed by a security camera. Officials from the local 610 Office ordered the officials from the town education department and his school principal to harass him. He was also taken to the town education department and was forced to write a guarantee statement to give up practicing Falun Gong.
In 2004, Mr. Yang was detained for 31 days for downloading materials from the Minghui website. He was sent to a brainwashing center for 21 days and had more than 10,000 yuan extorted from him. On July 19, 2008, the officials from the Suning Town Education Department took him to the Baiyangdai area and his freedom was restricted during the school summer vacation.
30. [Tongling City, Anhui Province] Mr. Fang Shanpei and Mr. Guan Hongyou Sentenced to Forced Labor
Mr. Fang Shanpei was arrested in March 2010, and Mr. Gang Hongyou at the beginning of April 2010. Both men were sentenced to forced labor. Mr. Fang's term is two years and Mr. Guang's term is unknown.
Mr. Guang was sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2007. He was released from the Nanhu Forced Labor Camp in May 2009. One year later, he was sentenced to forced labor again.
31. [Leihe City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhao Xiang Arrested
At around 1:30 p.m. on May 19, 2010, while Mr. Zhao Xiang from Leihe City went to distribute Falun Gong materials in Renhe Township, Xiping County, Henan Province, he was arrested. He is being detained at the Xiping Detention Center.
