(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities and counties in seven provinces. Nineteen practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during their detention and at least nine practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Hunan Province] Further Information about the Persecution of Mr. Yu Shaoqi
Mr. Yu Shaoqi, 32, is the former deputy office director of the Chenxi Weather Bureau. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Yu was dismissed from his post because he went to appeal for Falun Gong. Mr. Yu's father was the former director of the Civil Affairs Bureau and was also discharged from his post because his son was a Falun Gong practitioner. Mr. Yu Shaoqi planned to appeal again in January 2000. Unfortunately, he fell from the fourth floor and was disabled when he was trying to evade being stopped by his family and relatives.
In June 2000, Mr. Yu Shaoqi, walking with a cane, went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing City to practice the Falun Gong exercises. He and three practitioners from Liaoning Province were arrested and detained. Mr. Yu later escaped from the Representative Office in Beijing and went to Zhongnanhai to protest the persecution of Falun Gong. He was arrested again and beaten at the police station. The local police returned him to his local area, detained him and extorted 5,000 yuan from him.
Mr. Yu was later detained more than seven times. He was once sent to a forced labor camp and detained in a mental hospital and a brainwashing center. He was hung by his handcuffed wrists, beaten, force-fed, injected with poisonous drugs, and insulted, etc. His wife was forced to divorce him.
2. [Jimo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Song Yusheng Persecuted
Mr. Song Yusheng from Tianheng Town, Jimo City was sent to Guanzhuang Second Men's Forced Labor Camp in Zhangqiu City on January 15, 2010. As a result of persecution, he contracted severe hepatitis B, coronary heart disease, hypertension, cholecystitis, etc. His family went to the camp to request his release, but camp officials refused to release him, and denied family visitation. Mr. Song Yusheng's health is deteriorating, and the camp has still not released him.
3. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Jiang Honglu Persecuted in Mudanjiang Prison
Mr. Jiang Honglu worked at the Mishan Road Administration Station. On February 12, 2002, he was shot by Meng Qingqi, a Mishan police officer, and then sentenced to 14 years in prison. He has been detained in the Mudanjiang Prison for eight years. As a result of persecution over that time, Mr. Jiang has developed severe illnesses and become emaciated. He is unable to eat and sleep well and puffs while walking. He is very weak but the prison still refuses to release him.

4. [Linqing, Shandong Province] Ms. Du Zixiu Detained in Linqing Detention Center
Ms. Du Zixiu was arrested by officers from the Linqing Domestic Security Division in late April 2010. She is currently being detained in the Linqing Detention Center. Her family was made to pay 30,000 yuan, but the center has still not released her.
5. [Yilong County, Sichuan Province] Additional Information about the Persecution of Ms. Shu Lan
On or around April 23, 2010, Ms. Shu Lan was reported to police while she was talking to people about Falun Gong in Tumen Town, Yilong County. She was taken away from her home by plainclothes police, and her home was ransacked. She is currently being detained in the Yilong Detention Center.

6. [Tianjin City] Mr. Han Yongquan Arrested
Mr. Han Yongquan, from Cuizhuang, Taiping Town, Dagang District, Tianjin City, was arrested at 3:00 p.m. on May 1, 2010, on his way to visit friends. He was detained at the Dagang Police Department, and was released on May 3, 2010.
7. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Li Jinlu Detained in Linfen Detention Center
Mr. Li Jinlu works in the Taiyuan Forestry Office and lives on Taoyuanzheng Street in Taiyuan City. On April 30, 2010, he and his wife Ms. Wu Shouhua, as well as his daughter Ms. Li Wenli, went back to his hometown. At the entrance to the train station, surveillance detected that he was carrying DVDs of the 2010 Shen Yun performance, and cards with words about Falun Gong. They were taken to the Pingyaolu Police Station by the railroad police. That same day, the three were detained at the police station.
At 9:00 a.m. on May 1, 2010, Mr. Li Jinlu was taken to the Linfen Detention Center. His wife and daughter were released. The police ransacked his home and confiscated ten Shen Yun DVDs.
8. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Mu Shuqin and Ms. Dou Shuping Followed and Arrested While Distributing Falun Gong Materials on the Night of May 3, 2010

9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Additional Information about Arrest of Ms. Chen Jingying and Other Practitioners
On April 27, 2010, seven elderly practitioners, all of whom are around 70 years old, were taken into custody at Ms. Chen Jingying's home by officers from the Ziyanglu Police Station and personnel from the Jiefanglu Community. Ms. Wu Keyan and Ms. Zhang Juxiang are currently being detained at the Dongxihu Women's Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Wu Taipo, Ms. Zheng Shuangfeng, and Ms. Yan Fuxiang are in the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center. Ms. Liu, 78, has been released because of hypertension. Ms. Chen Jingying's whereabouts are unknown.

10. [Changle County, Shandong Province] Ms. Wu from Gucheng Village, Yingqiu Town Arrested
Mr. Zhang Huiyi and his wife Ms. Wu live in Gucheng Village, Yingqiu Town, Changle County. Ms. Wu was arrested by officers from the Changle 610 Office and the Yingqiu Police Station in early April 2010. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.
11. [Changyi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Jianlin Arrested
On the afternoon of March 18, 2010, Mr. Li Jianlin from Shibu Town, Changyi City was arrested in Hanting District by officers from the Hanting District Domestic Security Division. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
12. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Shang Dexing and Ms. Tian Jinlan Arrested by Officers from the Zhonghanbianfang Police Station
Ms. Shang Deing and Ms. Tian Jinlan were reported and then arrested on the afternoon of May 3, 2010, while they were talking to people about Falun Gong in Jinjialing. They are currently detained in the Zhonghanbianfang Police Station.
13. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Ji Liewu Attended His Mother's Funeral for Thirty Minutes Under Police Surveillance
Mr. Ji Liewu was a member of the former Falun Dafa Research Society. On April 27, 2010, under the surveillance of many armed police officers, he went to Yuhuangcui Village, Qingyun Town, Yanshan County, Cangzhou City to attend his mother's funeral. The handcuffs and shackles were removed just before he got out of the police vehicle. There were many armed police surrounding the funeral home. Two police officers followed Mr. Ji the entire way, and the entire event was recorded. Thirty minutes later, Mr. Ji was forced to leave.
14. [Yaan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Zhaoxia's Term Extended
On March 10, 2008, Ms. Yang Zhaoxia, from Mingshan County, Yaan City, was taken away from her home. She was later sent to the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong City to serve a two-year term. She is still detained there.
