I obtained the Fa in March of 1999. After three months of practice, I gained nearly 20 pounds of weight and all of the diseases I had had for many years, such as tuberculosis, hyperthyroidism, cervical vertebrae problems, uterine fibroids, nephritis, neurasthenia, rhinitis, and my heart disease, all disappeared. I had taken a sick leave for three years before I started to practice Falun Dafa. Teacher Li saved my life. I was completely recovered and went back to work again with joy. Since I was famous for being sick in my workplace, many colleagues asked me how I became healthy and young again. I told them about the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance of Falun Gong and how the five exercises made me reborn and improved my mind and body. They all knew that Falun Gong was good as they saw the changes in my life. I became a living example to clarify the truth.
1. Break Through the Persecution with Righteous Thoughts
On July 20, 1999, the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong. Fellow practitioners and I went to the provincial government to appeal for the right to practice but we did not get any response. We then went to Beijing to appeal. At that time I did not have too many thoughts, I just felt that I could not just stand by when Dafa was being persecuted and Teacher was being slandered. My life was given to me by Teacher and Dafa, and my life will always be with Teacher and Dafa. At the end of November 1999, I left a note to my husband, who was on a business trip, and told him why I was going to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. After I arrived in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, I was arrested and taken to the Tiananmen Square Police Station by a plainclothes police officer who had pretended to be a practitioner. In the police station there were many other practitioners. They recited Lunyu together out loud. I truly realized that I had not studied the Fa well and I could not even recite Lunyu.
In 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa three times. On Tiananmen Square, I handed out informational materials and displayed banners with other practitioners. Each time I came back from Beijing, I was sent to a brainwashing session hosted by the police station and my workplace specifically for me. My employer sent two middle level cadres to watch me every day and night. Besides studying the Fa and practicing the exercises, I clarified the facts to them and told them how great Dafa was. Later they told their leader that they would also start to practice Falun Gong if they continued to watch me.
After I came back from appealing for Dafa in Beijing for the fourth time, I was arrested and taken to the detention center and was then illegally sentenced to forced labor for one year and three months. My term was extended for another three months in the forced labor camp because I refused to do the labor. Because I refused to be "transformed," I was taken directly to the district brainwashing center after I was released from the forced labor camp. The police station sent two officers to watch over me every day. I used this opportunity to clarify the truth to them and to tell them about the greatness of Falun Dafa and the corruption and violence in the forced labor camp. I told them how the guards handcuffed me and suspended me in an isolated room of the forced labor camp for three days and nights without being allowed to sleep or go to the restroom. My shoulder blade was permanently injured and the bone became dark. The doctor said this would lead to being disabled for life. The two police officers were very angry after they heard this and they said that the guards in the forced labor camp were too cruel.
The assistant director of the district brainwashing center frequently slandered Dafa. I told him to read Zhuan Falun first before he talked to me again. Afterwards he privately told other officers in the brainwashing center, "The book Zhuan Falun is indeed very good. Everyone that reads it will like it. She (meaning the author of this article) can practice but not others." The brainwashing session could not go on. The police then transferred me to the provincial brainwashing center and continued to persecute me there. Fortunately a senior practitioner risked his life to send me Teacher's new article, "Fa Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A." before the police took me to the provincial brainwashing center. After I studied the article, I truly understood the importance and seriousness of sending forth righteous thoughts, which greatly helped me. I really appreciate Teacher's protection and fellow practitioners' efforts in sending Teacher's new articles to the practitioners detained at the brainwashing center. I continuously sent forth righteous thoughts and recited the Fa. In the beginning, the CCP officials threatened that they would send me back to the forced labor camp. Later, one of the officials said his head hurt whenever he saw me and that he did not want to see me ever again. The officials had to take medicine and injections every day. I knew the righteous thoughts really took effect. The CCP officials told my family to pay 20,000 yuan in earnest for my release, but I strongly resisted and did not allow my family to pay them. When the officials told me to prepare to be sent back to the forced labor camp, I still continuously sent forth righteous thoughts. When I was extremely sleepy, I pinched myself and asked Teacher to strengthen me to break through the evil. I also told Teacher I wanted to go home, study the Fa systematically, and practice the exercises diligently. In the end, my employer and the local police took me home after a month.
2. Clarify the Truth to All Levels of Officials
After I was released, I went back to work immediately. I only earned 400 yuan a month and no one assigned me any more work. Since I had not been able to consistently study the Fa or practice the exercises for over a year, every day at work I listened to Teacher's Fa lectures using a small tape recorder and sent forth righteous thoughts every hour. I also practiced the exercises twice every day. Since my arms and shoulders were injured due to the persecution, I could not lift them, and it was even hard for me to hold a pen. So, if I had spare time, I practiced the exercises more. When my colleagues came to see me, I told them about the staged "self-immolation" incident and how I was brutally persecuted in the brainwashing center as well as the forced labor camp. My colleagues all cried after hearing this. Their kindness was inspiring.
Since I had the Fa in my mind, I did not have any fear. A few months after I was released, I went to see the director of my workplace with righteous thoughts. First, I commended his ability and the changes in my workplace. Then I gave him a truth-clarifying letter I had written to him regarding why I would not give up my belief in Falun Gong and the serious consequences for those that participate in persecuting Falun Gong. Before I left, I also gave him a booklet exposing the CCP's fabricated lies. The next month, the director restored my regular salary and also arranged additional work for me. The next spring, he was promoted to a position at headquarters. Before he left, he sought me out to say goodbye. He also privately told the manager of my office to take good care of me (the manager told me this later). The director chose a beautiful future after he understood the truth.
A section chief in the city police department was in charge of matters related to my employer. He visited us frequently. When I saw him, I clarified the truth to him, told him about the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, and persuaded him to quit the CCP. During our conversation he mentioned his parents' health was not good and that his son did not study well in school. I told him that these were all related to his work in persecuting Falun Gong and that he should treat Falun Gong practitioners kindly. He said his leader frequently sent them to arrest the practitioners who handed out truth-clarifying materials. I told him, "You should not arrest any practitioners even if you see them. Why are they passing out materials in all kinds of weather? They are trying to save you." He asked me to clarify the facts to his supervisor if I had the chance to meet him. My supervisor noticed that I regularly talked to the police and was very worried about me. Later on I heard from the Safety Protection Section Head that every time the police came to my workplace, my supervisor said that I did not practice Falun Gong anymore in order to protect me. That made me anxious. How could he lie to them? Afterwards, when I had to fill out some forms for my job, I always filled in, "I will believe in Falun Dafa forever" in the "personal belief" column. My colleagues who submitted the forms told me that those in human resources department were all very nervous and did not know how to process my form.
Every weekend, I shared experiences with fellow practitioners. During that time, I discovered that I had fallen behind during the time I was imprisoned. I did not study Teacher's new articles in time and I did not know how to distribute truth-clarifying materials, not to mention explore the Internet. So I started with putting up posters. Sometimes, just after I had finished putting one up, my husband would shout at me, "What are you doing?" I got scared and immediately waved at him to keep him quiet. Later I realized that Teacher used my husband's mouth to get rid of my attachment to fear.
After the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published, I worked with a senior practitioner to produce and pass out copies of the Nine Commentaries. She produced the booklet and I passed it out. Every morning I walked along the street to pass out the booklet for two hours and then went to work. In the winter, I was sweating all over after I had finished handing them out. At that time there was frequent mention on the Internet about the CCP's "sensitive days." However, I felt the need to give out truth-clarifying materials even more on the "sensitive days." We have Teacher and the Fa with us. How can Dafa disciples be afraid of the evil?
When I read the report regarding the harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, I thought of the practitioners who were suffering such brutal persecution. Every time I went out to distribute materials, I cried. In order to help fellow practitioners and save the sentient beings, I could not stay at home and be comfortable.
Just after I came back from the brainwashing center, a policeman in my local community frequently called me. After I studied the Fa, I realized this was also persecution and he was committing a crime against Dafa, so I started to explain the truth to him and told him stories of karmic retribution for persecuting Falun Gong. Later he told me that the district 610 Office wanted him to arrest me again but he refused. I told him he would be rewarded with good returns if he treated Falun Gong with kindness and he could also repent for the bad things he had done in the past when persecuting practitioners. I told him, "In the past you sent me to the forced labor camp because you did not know the truth about Falun Gong. I did not fuss with you, but the gods recorded that. In the future you must not do anything wrong to Falun Gong." He was later promoted to chief of the police station.
Later I spent a lot of time studying Zhuan Falun and Teacher's new articles, sent forth righteous thoughts every hour, and increased my exercise practice time. My arms and shoulders recovered after a few months. Every morning I rode a bicycle to work. If I saw a farmer going into the city to sell vegetables, I put a copy of the Nine Commentaries on his cart when he went to the restroom. When I passed by a small deli to buy breakfast, I left material in that shop, too. Sometimes, in order to pass out more materials, I stopped by several small delis in the morning.
Along with the progress of the Fa-Rectification, I learned how to explore the Internet, download files, print articles, and burn DVDs with other practitioners' help. Before that, I knew nothing about computers and my husband often said that I was a fool. Now he admired me for being able to do it. When the Internet was blocked by the CCP, he even needed to ask for my help. When I encountered some technical problems, I sent forth righteous thoughts, looked inward, and solved it with my divine powers. Sometimes when I could not solve the problems, Teacher sent practitioners to visit me in time and they would teach me the new technical skills. I truly appreciate Teacher and fellow practitioners who helped me with the technical problems.
After that, I started to produce and distribute materials by myself. Sometimes I also produced them for other practitioners. In the heat of the summer, after returning home from work, I finished my dinner and took a shower, then went out to distribute materials. It was like a steam bath outside. I sent forth righteous thoughts to keep my body temperature normal. When I did it alone, I frequently sent forth righteous thoughts. When I did it with another practitioner, we did not talk about anything regarding everyday people's lives. We needed to constantly keep righteous thoughts in order to save people and keep ourselves safe. If we walk on the path of cultivation steadily, our families and colleagues will have confidence in Dafa, which gives them a good foundation to be saved. Sometimes I went out to distribute materials at noontime. The burning sun made me very sweaty. I sang the song performed by Shen Yun Performing Arts, "For whom we walked in wind and rain, for whom we ate and lived outdoors, we are Falun Dafa disciples walking on the street, fliers in our hands filled with our mercy and effort." Soon I forgot all about the hardship and was full of a Dafa disciple's pride.
For a period of time I participated in the project to send short messages using a cellphone to save sentient beings. Practitioners coordinated with each other and shared their experiences. Gradually we learned the techniques and could fluently send out all kinds of messages. The practitioners who did the technical support gave a lot of effort. I was able to send 1000 to 2000 truth-clarifying messages every day. Many people replied to the messages to thank us. Some people said bad words, but no matter what, the person who got the message received the information to quit the CCP in order to keep oneself safe, that heaven is eliminating the CCP, and that Falun Dafa is good, which gave them a chance to be saved in the future. Later we put this project on hold and focused on promoting the Shen Yun DVDs. Using cellphones to send truth-clarifying messages can cover large areas, but the practitioners need to frequently change the cellphone numbers in order to prevent being monitoring by the CCP.
One time my workplace raised employee salaries--all except for me, because I did not hand in the 2000 work summary report (I was in the forced labor camp at that time). I realized that this was an opportunity to clarify the truth. I wrote a letter to the ministers of the government departments in Beijing that were my employer's superiors. I told them about the persecution I had suffered and the greatness of Falun Dafa. I sent this letter to all six ministers and deputy-ministers. The head of my workplace brought me the ministers' reply in person and blamed me for ruining his promotional opportunities. He threatened to send me to a forced labor camp and said I could resign if I was not satisfied. I said, "Whoever persecutes Falun Gong will receive karmic retribution." A few months later, he was transferred to another province and was demoted to a deputy position. My colleagues commented among themselves that karmic retribution was real.
Another time, the big screen internal TV at work displayed a message that our company's sub-companies were not allowed to hire Falun Gong practitioners. After I saw it, I immediately went to see the leaders of my workplace. I told them it was discrimination against Falun Gong and discrimination against the employees of the company who practiced Falun Gong (I was the only practitioner in my workplace at that time). I told them I would appeal to higher level authorities. The leaders immediately called the office and ordered them to stop broadcasting that notice on the big screen. In another instance, the CCP members in my workplace gave us a quiz. In the quiz were questions that slandered Falun Gong. I immediately wrote letters to the leaders and all the middle level managers in my workplace to clarify the facts about Falun Gong and persuade them not to commit crimes against Dafa. When I went to the post office to send the letter out, a thought came to my mind that someone might report me to the police, but I thought again that it is a Dafa disciple's sacred responsibility to save sentient beings and validate the Fa, even if it means sacrificing one's own life. Afterwards, a leader complained that I frequently sent them these kinds of letters. I said, "Since you are the leader of the company, you should listen to the truth and listen to your employee's opinion."
The director of the union at work always threatened to send me to a forced labor camp. I clarified the truth to her and tried to persuade her to quit the CCP. She reported me to the head of my workplace. Later she became totally blind. I told her that she still had hope but only if she sincerely recited "Falun Dafa is good" and stopped participating in persecuting Falun Gong. Right now she frequently recites "Falun Dafa is good" and her eyes have recovered. Her son studied abroad, and when he came back, he questioned his mother as to why she was on the list of people who persecuted Falun Gong. She was very angry and came to talk to me. I told her that she was listed because she persecuted Falun Gong before but that now she will be fine since she stopped participating in the persecution. Listing the names of those that persecute Falun Gong on the Minghui/Clearwisdom website can greatly shock those involved and their family members.
Our Fa-study group launched several projects, including mailing truth-clarifying letters, mailing truth-clarifying CDs, and many others. I can only cover a small portion of them here. It is like a fellow practitioner said, that these articles are written for Teacher as well as for ourselves. The Minghui website has provided me tremendous and irreplaceable help. I truly appreciate it.
