(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Luo Meiting, 48, started practicing Falun Gong in 1997, and soon noticed a significant improvement in her mind and body. However, when the persecution started in 1999, despite being disabled, the police repeatedly arrested her and she has been detained in the police station, detention center, brainwashing center, and forced labor camp, all because of her belief in the principles of truthfulness-benevolence-forbearance. The following information relates to the illegal arrests and brutal beatings she was subjected to over the past ten years.

Arms Handcuffed Behind Her Back for Four Days in Beijing, Then Repeatedly Beaten by Local Police

On February 11, 2000, only seven days into the Chinese new year, Ms. Luo went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Upon her arrival at Tiananmen Square, she was immediately arrested. The Beijing police officers punched and kicked her, then dragged her into a police vehicle. When asked her name, she refused to give it, so as not to implicate officials from her hometown. The police handcuffed her arms behind her back and deprived her of water for four days, before taking her to the Hebei Province Liaison Office in Beijing. On February 16, Feng Qingfang, head of the Political Security Group of the Pingshan County Police Department, and officers Xiao Suilong and Hu Yuetao, took Ms. Luo back to the Pingshan County Police Department. Feng took possession of the 390 yuan which Ms. Luo had with her, and did not provide a receipt.

At the Pingshan County Police Department, officers Xiao and Hu violently beat Ms. Luo. Her entire body was bruised. The officers did not stop, and continued to beat her until she lost control of her bladder and bowels. Feng and other officers then took her to the detention center, without allowing her to change clothes.

Ms. Luo was illegally held in the detention center for forty days. Feng then extorted 1,000 yuan from Ms. Luo's family and again did not provide a receipt.

Beaten Unconscious in a Brainwashing Center

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on April 23, 2002, when Ms. Luo had already gone to bed, Feng Qingfang, Xiao Suilong, Hu Yuefang and other officers from the Pingshan County Police Department, were accompanied by Zhao Zhenfang, then Xiahuai Town Party Secretary, and a dozen other officials including Yang Xicun, Zhang Nangua, Li Chunhai and Su Shihua, forced their way into her home. They lied to her and told her that she was needed at the town government office in relation to an inquiry, after which she would be taken back home.

Ms. Luo did not know that she was being deceived and went along. She was held at the town government office for two days, and then transferred to the Pingshan County Detention Center, where she was held for approximately a month. She was then taken to a brainwashing center, operated by the county 610 Office, at a military camp in the Lizhuang area.

Ms. Luo did not cooperate with the officers and refused to sign a so-called Guarantee Statement. Feng, Xiao and Hu swore at her and beat her. Luo said to them, "Which of you was not given birth by a mother? Which of you does not have a brother or sister?" The officers were ashamed and could not find an answer. However, their shame soon turned to anger, and they handcuffed Ms. Luo, raised her off the ground, and whipped her with leather belts for half an hour. Ms. Luo's pants were so torn that they fell off, and she was not let down until she had lost consciousness.

Violently Beaten in Another Brainwashing Center

Ms. Luo was later sent to a brainwashing center in the Experimental High School, and then was transferred to yet another brainwashing center in a Magnesium Factory, where over a dozen people were forced to stay in a small room. At each meal everyone was given only a small bun to eat.

One day, Ms. Luo had stomach problems and needed to use the toilet, but the guards, Zhang Jiange and Zhang Xingang, did not allow her to go. When she tried to talk to them, the two guards, along with Tan Zhijie, Zhao Shuyong and Wang Ligang began to beat her. She was then deprived of water for about four days.

On August 8, 2002, the guards posted slogans slandering Falun Gong all over the walls of the brainwashing center. The next day, the slogans were gone. The guards asked each prisoner who had removed the slogans. To protect the others, Ms. Luo said that she had done it. The guards rushed to her and started beating her. Shi Junhai, then party secretary of the county's Political and Judiciary Committee, punched her so hard that her face became swollen and she was not able to see anything out of her right eye. Wang Genting, then director of the 610 Office, threatened her, saying, "If you refuse to be transformed, we will beat you to death. We have orders from higher up that anyone beaten to death dies without consequence. It is counted as a suicide case." Hou Congli, then deputy director of the 610 Office, also participated in the beatings. Ms. Luo was not affected by their threats or violence.

Ms. Luo was held for over 180 days after being taken into custody on the night of April 23, 2002. She refused to sign the demanded Guarantee Statement. Wang Genting, Feng Qingfang and other police officers took her to the Hebei Province Brainwashing Center on October 23, 2002. She was held there for another week before being released.

In a Forced Labor Camp

On September 26, 2003, Ms. Luo Meiting went to Beijing again to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Hebei Province Liaison Office in Beijing. On September 28, Feng Qingfang, Xiao Suilong and Hu Yuetao took her back to Hebei Province. Feng took over 100 yuan from Ms. Luo. She was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor. On October 13, 2003, Xiao and Hu took her to the No.5 Division in Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp. Qi Honghong and Li Ping were the most vicious among the labor camp guards and arbitrarily beat Ms. Luo.

On June 28, 2008, Ms. Luo again went to Beijing to appeal. On July 3, Feng Qingfang, Xiao Suilong and Hu Yuetao took her back to Hebei Province. Feng took 480 yuan from Ms. Luo this time, and Xiao kept slandering Falun Gong's founder. On July 6, she was taken to the Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp for another year of forced labor. She was released on July 7, 2009, after being held there for four extra days after the expiration of her sentence.
