Japan's Saitama Prefecture in Kawaguchi City was the proud host of the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts on March 4, 2010.

During the intermission, Ms. Takahashi exclaimed, "This is the very first time for me to see the Shen Yun show, and I was very touched. "The dancers' hand and arm movements were very delicate, which is a feature of Chinese dance. In addition, the colors were marvelous and unique."
Ms. Watanabe, who had seen Shen Yun before, said that she was overwhelmed by the dazzling array of colors, "I think the colors in the show were perfect."
Ballerina: "They leaped so high--it was unbelievable!"
Ballerina Matsubayashi Ranze was amazed by Shen Yun Performing Arts.
In an interview after the show, Ms. Matsubayashi said, "In Japan, we can only see Chinese performances controlled by the Chinese regime. Being able to see something so different this time is simply great. I am glad to have witnessed authentic Chinese culture."
She also said that she felt fortunate to be able to witness the other ethnic dances in the show.
Ms. Matsubayashi commented on the dancers' ability and skill, saying, "They leaped so high--it was unbelievable," adding that the costumes they wore were "exquisite!" ... "rich and colourful" and that "The backdrops on the stage were also very pretty."
In discussing the values portrayed in the dance sets related to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, she said, "In the performance, their perseverance in holding onto their belief, even in cases of adversity, touched my heart. I want to be like them."

Also in the audience was Ms. Kamiya Youko, a professional dance teacher, who said, "I've seen different kinds of dance performances and operas quite often and have been to Europe and the U.S. to see shows. My overall impression of the show today was that the music and dances were full of Chinese flavor, and I liked them very much.
"All the dancers had very strong physical abilities. Take jumping, for instance. They jumped very high, and they were full of energy. In terms of spinning, they spun very quickly, with good balance. Their performance was indeed wonderful."
Noting that Japanese dance is performed at a relatively slow pace, she said, "... the dance in Shen Yun's performance seems to be more dynamic, charismatic and graceful."
In discussing the dancers' movements, Ms. Ms. Kamiya said, "I enjoyed the program 'Handkerchiefs' very much. The dancers' movements were very gentle and graceful. It seems to be easy, but in fact it is very difficult."
She added, "To my understanding, Shen Yun Performing Arts was established just four years ago, but the level of their performances is very high. ... Shen Yun shows are very pure. The dancers' individual and overall the performances are excellent. In terms of a dance show, color plays an important role. The colors in this show are very pleasant to my eyes, and they are full of Chinese flavor."
She ended by saying. "In addition, the combination of the dynamic backdrops and the dance is very creative."
