On the morning of March 15, 2010, Mr. Chen Shizhong, a member of the United Nations Association, San Diego Chapter, spoke at the 13th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Mr. Chen pointed out that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has injected Falun Gong practitioners with drugs that damage the nervous system against their will. The drugs destroy practitioners' ability to think, to remain steadfast in their beliefs, and to maintain consciousness.
During Mr. Chen's speech, a delegate from the CCP repeatedly disrupted the conference, falsely claiming that Mr. Chen was not a member of the United Nations Association. The CCP delegate attempted to silence Mr. Chen with this false allegation. After the Secretariat confirmed Mr. Chen's membership, the CCP delegate then repeatedly questioned the Secretariat's verification procedure. However, the Chairman of the Council did not honor the CCP delegate's unreasonable requests.
The Chairman refuted the CCP delegate's accusation and invited Mr. Chen to continue his speech. As soon as Mr. Chen resumed speaking, the CCP delegate again tried to stop him, claiming that his speech was not consistent with the subject of the conference.
The CCP's allegation of "not keeping to the subject" reminds me of the CCP's response to the inquiry on the whereabouts of Attorney Gao Zhisheng, who has suffered cruel persecution and torture after writing open letters to the highest authorities in the CCP regime to speak in support of Falun Gong.
When Gao Zhisheng's older brother went to Beijing Public Security Bureau to inquire about his younger brother, the police told him Gao Zhisheng "got lost on his way." Pressured by inquiries from a wide range of overseas sectors, the CCP had no choice but to respond and said, "Gao Zhisheng is working in Urumqi." Responding to strong accusations from the outside, the spokesperson for the CCP Foreign Affairs Ministry said, "He is where he should be."
Back in Geneva, on March 16, the day after the CCP delegate attempted to upset the conference, British Foreign Secretary David Miliband asked China's Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi about Attorney Gao Zhisheng's whereabouts. Foreign Minister Yang denied the fact that Gao Zhisheng had been tortured and claimed that that Gao Zhisheng's personal rights were protected. However, he never said where Gao Zhisheng was.
We would ask whether the CCP's response kept to the subject? How could it be possible that Gao Zhisheng "got lost on his way" when he was followed by dozens of police every day? The reply, "He is where he should be," shows even more clearly how the CCP acts without shame. The Foreign Minister went even further, denying that Gao Zhisheng has been tortured, and even went so far as to claim that Gao Zhisheng's personal rights were being protected!
Gao Zhisheng gave a detailed account of the different tortures he suffered in his article "Dark Night, Dark Hood and Kidnapping by Dark Mafia," including severe beatings, electric shock torture, and having his genitals pierced with toothpicks. However, Foreign Minister Yang claimed that Gao Zhisheng was not tortured. How were Gao Zhisheng's personal rights protected? For over a year now, even his wife and children have not know where he is. The CCP then describes such a disappearance as "protection of his personal rights?" And then for those lies to be told by the CCP's Foreign Minister? How much more immoral could the CCP be?
Was Mr. Chen Shizhong's speech consistent with the subject being presented before the United Nations Human Rights Council? The Falun Human Rights Group submitted a report entitled, "The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Administers Psychiatric Drugs to Destroy Falun Gong Practitioners' Minds." The report compiles 1088 specific cases, showing that completely healthy and sane Falun Gong practitioners suffer torture that involves injections with psychiatric drugs. It also listed more than 200 hospitals involved. It provides a full and accurate accounting of the facts. All persons, incidents, locations, and government departments and hospitals involved have been verified. It is a very clear report.
Mr. Chen reported, "The CCP regime's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has persisted for eleven years. It has used the most sinister torture methods in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners but it has failed to make these practitioners yield. Under such circumstances, the CCP resorted to administering drugs to damage the practitioners' central nervous systems, so as to destroy their ability to hold a thought and remain conscious. According to what we have learned, more than a hundred practitioners who were given these kinds of drugs against their will have become disabled, been injured, and even died. These are only the cases that have been recorded and were able to be passed outside of China. The actual situation is much more severe than these cases indicate."
The CCP regime is afraid of this report, and that explains why they went to such extremes to try to keep Mr. Chen from talking about it in front of the UN Human Rights Council.
The CCP does not dare to reply truthfully to any of the questions raised by Falun Gong practitioners. It seems that it is they that are never able to "keep to the subject."
