Business Manager: "Very spiritual--It's touching"

NEW YORK--Attending the afternoon performance of Shen Yun on February 21 were Phyllis Lane, a business manager for Estée Lauder, and insurance broker Fred Stern. The engaged couple came to see Shen Yun to celebrate Mr. Stern's birthday. Both enjoyed the performance.

"Loved it," said Ms. Lane. "I loved the colors and the idea of right and wrong. Very spiritual--It's touching."

She said that when telling her friends of the show, she will place her hands over her heart and say "you have to see it."

Mr. Stern added, "It is wonderful. It is very inspirational."

Both Ms. Lane and Mr. Stern particularly enjoyed the show's portrayal of the divinely-inspired elements of Chinese culture. Mr. Stern said it was "inspirational" to see the beliefs that underlie the traditional elements of Chinese culture.

"I didn't realize that the Chinese believed in the divine," Mr. Stern said. "It is very interesting to see that they do have that belief."

Senior Executive: "The show was very uplifting"

Two audience members, a retired flight attendant, and Joe, a senior executive at a global firm, enjoyed seeing the show because it delivered what it had promised: a traditional Chinese cultural show that brought stories from ancient to modern times.

"I think overall it was a very good experience," said Joe. "A lot of culture in the show and a lot of diversity in the different dances."

"I think the show was very uplifting," he shared.

He said that the message could be understood and was about "having faith and staying true and one will be rewarded in the end. So I think it was a very consistent message that was easy to pick up on."

The flight attendant summarized what they had seen in the show. "Oh, I loved it!" she said. "I thought it was very uplifting. I thought it was a very positive show and I liked learning a little bit about the culture of the dance because what I enjoy about the Chinese culture is they're just very controlled and precise, and beautiful."
