(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Hongmei, in her forties, is a lecturer at the School of History and Culture, China West Normal University. She obtained her doctoral degree in history from Lanzhou University and has been awarded national prizes twice for her achievements in research.
Wang Hongmei was illegally arrested on June 7, 2001, by the Security Department of Lanzhou University because she had refused to give up practicing Falun Gong. Then she was detained at the Taoshuping Forced Labor Camp in Lanzhou City. Wang Hongmei was pregnant at that time, but the police forced her to have an abortion. She was severely hurt mentally and physically. Ms. Wang was released in late 2001, due to her staging a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention.
On the morning of January 12, 2010, police from the State Security Group of Nanchong City broke into and searched Wang Hongmei's home in the residential compound of China West Normal University, accusing her of giving people materials about Falun Gong. Later, Ms. Wang was secretly taken away by the State Security Group and her whereabouts are unknown.
Wang Hongmei's husband Yang Jun, an employee of the College of Life Sciences at China West Normal University, and their eight-year-old daughter Yang Andi are very worried and in despair.
