(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Yangfen was illegally arrested at around 10:00 a.m. on September 27, 2010 by staff from the Xingwen 610 Office and the National Security Team while she was at a supermarket. Luo Jingsong from the 610 Office and policeman Liu Ke then ransacked her home. They did not show a warrant or any other legal document during the arrest and ransacking.
Ms. Li was detained at the Xingwen Detention Center for 15 days. Her family sent 50 yuan for her to buy necessities, but the guards didn't allow her to buy them. They even prevented her from using the toothbrush and toothpaste that her family brought for her. Ms. Li wasn't allowed to brush her teeth at all during the 15 days she was detained.
Ten days after being detained, Ms. Li fainted in the bathroom and was not discovered until half an hour later, when another detainee went to use the bathroom. The guard heard a cry for help and came to check. Then he called the detention center doctor. Ms. Li woke up after the doctor gave her a shot.
After that, Ms. Li became more and more muddle-headed day after day. Her legs became weak and she needed support from others in order to walk. She had no appetite and couldn't eat. She felt that there was something stuck in her chest, and that she was unable to spit it out.
Seeing that her health was in a precarious condition, the detention center notified her family to come and get her. When her husband came to pick her up on October 11, two inmates helped her walk out. When they let go of her, she almost collapsed.
Ms. Li's situation hadn't improved as of October 26. A Falun Gong practitioner who used to be healthy became unable to care for herself after only two weeks in the detention center. It is suspected that the shot the doctor gave Ms. Li contained a harmful substance.
