(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Jiang Xiaoying was born in Duchang County, Jiangxi Province. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1995 and benefited physically and mentally from the practice. In 1996, she and her family moved to Jiujiang City, where she became a nurse at the Fifth People's Hospital. She was recognized as a diligent staff member by her colleagues and a warmhearted nurse by her patients.
After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Jiang went to Beijing several times to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. Because she kept clarifying the facts about Falun Gong, she was illegally arrested many times.
Ms. Jiang was severely tortured while detained at the Majialong Forced Labor Camp in Jiujiang City, as a result of which she suffered mental instability and her family was broken apart.
After her term at the labor camp expired in 2008, officials refused to release her. Instead, they invited a mental health expert from Beijing to conduct an examination and then transferred her to the Fifth People's Hospital under the excuse that she had a mental disorder, even though she was mentally healthy at the time.
Ms. Jiang was then detained and mistreated in the hospital until January 29, 2009, when she was taken to her home in Duchang County for the Chinese New Year by her brother. This was the only time she was allowed to spend out of detention over a 10-year period. When the holiday was over, officials forced her brother to immediately take her back to the hospital, which he did, as he did not understand the facts about Falun Gong at the time. She was then again detained and abused in a psychiatric ward.
Early this year, Ms. Jiang was briefly released from the hospital to attend her daughter's wedding in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. Because she talked to people about Falun Gong while in Ningbo City, however, she was again arrested and sent back to the Fifth People's Hospital shortly thereafter. She is currently detained and mistreated at the psychiatric ward of the hospital.
