(Clearwisdom.net) (by a Clearwisdom correspondent in Shandong) Mr. Liu Ming, 37 years old, is a worker in the Deshoutang Pharmacy of the Yufeng Medicine Company, in Yanzhou. His wife, Zhang Maoyun, 36 years old, works in the Yanzhou Seed Management Station.
Around 4:30 in the afternoon on April 8, 2009, Mr. Liu was at home browsing the Internet when he heard someone knock at the door. He thought it was a fellow practitioner or his wife, so he opened the door. More than a dozen police officers rushed in and arrested Liu immediately, and then waited outside his home and arrested his wife, who had come home after picking up their twelve-year-old daughter. The police took away their computers (one desktop and one laptop), a printer, seven CD burners, more than two thousands CDs, two MP3 players, two cellphones, a TV signal receiver, Falun Dafa books, half of a box of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and several monetary bills with truth clarifying messages on them. The total value of the confiscated belongings is around twenty thousand yuan.
Officers from the Yanzhou 610 Office and police from the Domestic Security Division ransacked Mr. Liu's home. They arrested Mr. Liu and Ms. Zhang without any legal documents.
Liu Ming and Zhang Maoyun were kept in the Yanzhou Detention Center. They were repeatedly interrogated and were forced to work--peeling 15-20 kilograms garlic per day per person.
Someone from the Yanzhou Procuratorate asked Zhang Maoyun if she would plead guilty in Court. She said, "We did not commit any crimes. We were simply practicing Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It is Jiang [Zemin] and his gang who are committing crimes using the law!"
Their family hired a lawyer.
Around 6 o'clock in the afternoon on May 11, 2009, Zhang Maoyun was sent home for future questioning; her family had to pay ten thousand yuan for this. On August 19, 2009, when there was to be a trial held for Liu Ming and Zhang Maoyun. Mrs. Zhang left home and became homeless. Mr. Liu was secretly sentenced to seven years in prison. He is currently in a prison in Taian.
Liu Zixing, Liu Ming's father, was a manager of the Gongan Guard Company in Yanzhou. When he was informed that his son and daughter-in-law had been arrested, he was so worried that his hair and beard turned white overnight.
