(Clearwisdom.net) Moved by the lyrics of the songs, Mr. MacDonald sees life a little differently after seeing the Shen Yun Performing Arts matinée on December 31 at the San Diego Civic Theatre.
The chief executive of a local company, who was attending the show with his wife, said at intermission: "Well, there's a lot of spirituality behind this ... [of] really becoming who you are and who you were meant to be."
"There were a couple of times where I was nearly brought to tears because it really is a very spiritual experience ... the messages are very inspiring. I'm going to be doing more meditation." he quipped, laughing at the thought.

"It makes me want to step up and do more with my life," he said. "I try to give 100 percent but there's always a feeling inside of me that there's something more I should be doing. I just think there's more, there's always got to be more."
"I want to have a bigger impact on this world to benefit other people, so I'm personally wondering, 'okay, what's the next step for me?' I don't know if that's an internal growth or an external job. I just don't know."
An integral part of Shen Yun is taken from a repository of ancient legends, modern day events and folktales portrayed by gorgeously costumed dancers who spin, twirl, leap and dive across a stage awash in color.
"It's wonderful, absolutely wonderful. Very cultural obviously, and surprisingly delightful. The costumes are amazing--it broadens the cultural perspective of the Chinese people. The dancing and the singing is very professional," Mr. MacDonald said.
His wife said: "Very professional, it's art."
She said she was impressed with the dancers moving in synchronized patterns.
"They're very professional. I'm impressed by that and they really translate their feelings in [their] facial expressions--a full experience, a complete experience, it's beautiful."
Mr. MacDonald concluded: "It's incredible, just wonderful, very beautiful. The costumes are just so colorful, I mean they just 'flash' on stage. It really is a good experience and is a great way to end a year and bring in a new year."
Journalist: "If you want to fall in love with China's [traditional culture], this is it"
Mr. Knight, a professional writer and journalist for a Russian magazine, was among the theater goers to catch Shen Yun's last performance in San Diego.
"It's astonishing, it's amazing ... You know, if you want to fall in love with China's [traditional culture], this is it," said Mr. Knight followed by joyous laughter.
"I happen to have traveled in many countries--around 60 countries. I have had the privilege of seeing performances in different parts of the world, especially in Russia, and this one is rather unique, rather special," commented Mr. Knight after the performance.

"It opens the heart of Chinese people, to the outside world."
Shen Yun offered Mr. Knight a blissful way to end the year and a great start to the New Year.
"It's a present for me, of this New Year. And I hope they [Shen Yun] will travel all over the world. And show again and again this beautiful Chinese culture, this beautiful Chinese dancing, beautiful Chinese soul," said Mr. Knight.
The performance also provides what Shen Yun says on their website as, "artistic treatment to the world around us," which Mr. Knight connected with saying, "They have something to show. They have something to make believe that the world is becoming much better and beautiful."
And Mr. Knight added, "Beautiful dancing, beautiful costumes, beautiful music, and Chinese heart is there."
Shen Yun Performing Arts is consciously independent of China's communist regime, and seeks to breathe new life into traditional Chinese culture.
Their work greatly inspired Mr. Knight to discover more of this heritage, and the people who live there.
"And again and again, this performance, this unique show, brought me absolutely great desire to see the country, to see the China [of yesteryear], to see its people," concluded Mr. Knight.
