(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China reports incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 7 provinces. In this report, 21 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 13 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lu Guilan Persecuted and Her Daughter Threatened by Police; Daughter Died from Coronary Arrest
Around 9:00 a.m. on August 19, 2009, plainclothes agents from the local Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Lu Guilan's home and confiscated many valuables, including computers and printers. Police threatened Ms. Lu Guilan's daughter, in her thirties. She suffered a heart attack four days later. All efforts to revive her were futile. She died on the morning of August 23, 2009.

2. [Beijing] Recent Circumstances regarding the Persecution of Mr. Xu Wei
Mr. Xu Wei from Beijing had been being illegally held at the Fengtai Detention Center since officials from the Fengtai Police Department and the Majiabao Police Station arrested him on July 16, 2009. He was recently sentenced to half a year in a labor camp by Fengtai Police Department agents and was held at the Yuegezhuang Detention Center. Mr. Xu Wei has been on a hunger strike for a number of days.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Cui Fenyu Arrested
Ms. Cui Fenyu, 68, lives in an apartment affiliated with the Huangjin Research Center on Nanhu Road. Mengjia Police Station officials arrested her on August 19, 2009. The police ransacked her home and took away Falun Gong books, pictures of the founder of Falun Gong and cash. Ms. Cui Fenyu was sent to the Weizigou Detention Center.
4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Shuzhen Illegally Detained at Yaziquan
Officials from the Xianfenglu Police Station in the Nangang District arrested Ms. Zhang Shuzhen from Harbin City the morning of August 23, 2009. She is currently detained at Yaziquan.
5. [Beijing] Mr. Ran Fengyun and Mr. Pan Arrested
Haidian Police Station officials arrested Mr. Ran Fengyun and Mr. Pan from Huangzhuang, the Haidian District, Beijing on August 16, 2009. Their whereabouts are unknown.
6. [Jizhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Shuliang Arrested
On August 24, 2009, officials from the Hengshui City Domestic Security Division and the Jizhou City Police Department forcedly arrested Mr. Li Shuliang and sent him to the CCP's Hengshui Party School at noon on August 25, 2009. At the same time, officials from the Jizhou City Police Department ransacked his home.

7. [Fuyu County, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Enhui Transferred to the Gongzhuling Prison
Ms. Wang Enhui from Yushugou Village, Fuyu County was arrested on August 18, 2009. Participating in the arrest were officials from the Gongpengzi Police Station in Gongpengzi Town. She was later sent to the Fuyu County Detention Center, but the center refused to admit her. The Fuyu County Police Department agents sent Ms. Wang Enhui to the Gongzhuling Prison in Jilin Province.
8. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Ma Chuncheng Unlawfully Given a Ten Year Labor Camp Sentence
Mr. Ma Chuncheng from Jixi City was arrested in Daqing City in March 2009 and held at the daowai No. 2 Detention Center in Harbin. On April 8, Mr. Ma Chuncheng was transferred to the Fangzheng County Detention Center in Heilongjiang Province on April 8, 2009. Fangzheng County Court agents sentenced him to ten years in a labor camp on August 13, 2009.
9. [Chongqing] Ms. Qiu Cuixiang Persecuted in the Chongqing Women's Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Qiu Cuixiang from the Pingba District, Chongqing was reported on June 23, 2009 while clarifying the facts about Falun Gong, was arrested and taken to the Huayan Detention Center in Chongqing. Officials handed her a one-and-a-half year labor camp sentence which she began serving on August 20 at the Chongqing Women's Forced Labor Camp.
10. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zheng Jiangong Arrested
Mr. Zheng Jiangong from Shijiazhuang City was reported on August 20, 2009 while clarifying the facts about Falun Gong. Officials from the Youyi Street Police Station then arrested him at home. The police also confiscated Falun Gong books and tapes, a printer, and a computer. Mr. Zheng Jiangong is currently held at a detention center.
11. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Guan Meili Sent to Brainwashing Center; Ms. Yuan Juan Displaced
Ms. Guan Meili and Ms. Yuan Juan were reported on August 1, 2009 while distributing informational materials in Xinlianguanqu Village, Shayuan Town, Maogang District. Ms. Guan Meili was subsequently arrested by officials from the Shayuan Police Station and is currently held at the Maoming Brainwashing Center. Ms. Yuan Juan escaped.
Officials from the Gaodi Neighborhood Office had often gone to Ms. Yuan Juan's home to arrest her. She stayed away from her home to avoid further persecution.
12. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Ms.Tong Juying Illegally Sentenced to Labor Camp
Ms. Tong Juying from Hezhuang Township, Taocheng District, Hengshui City was arrested on July 29, 2009 and sentenced to one year of forced labor. Hengshui City 610 Office agents and those from the Hengshui City Police Department pronounced the sentence.
13. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Additional Information on the Arrest of Five Practitioners
Officials from the Lushan District Domestic Security Division and from the Lushan District Police Department in Jiujiang City arrested practitioners on August 20, 2009 in the Falun Dafa study group of the Country Cotton No. 2 Factory in Jiujiang City. The practitioners are: Ms. Shu Shufang, Ms. Li Shuiqing, Ms. Xu Shuizhi, Ms. Ma Yi and Ms. Xu Taorong. The police confiscated Falun Gong books, computers and truth-clarifying materials from Ms. Shu Shufang, Ms. Wang Shan and Ms. Li Shuiqing's homes. Ms. Li Shuiqing and Ms. Shu Shufang are currently detained at the Jiujiang Drug Rehabilitation Center; Ms. Xu Shuizhi, Ms. Ma Yi and Ms. Xu Taorong have been released.

14. [Shanghai] Ms. He Pinqin Covertly Sentenced to Forced Labor
Ms. He Pinqin from Minxing District was reported while clarifying the facts about Falun Gong in a market in Xuhui District on November 28, 2008. Officials from the Domestic Security Division, agents from the Xuhui District Police Department arrested her. She was since held at the Xuhui Detention Center. Her relatives were forbidden to visit her. Her daughter was told in the beginning of July 2009 that Xuhui District Court agents had sentenced her mother to four years in a labor camp, and that she had been sent to a women's prison.
15. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Ren Linguo Persecuted Since 2001
Mr. Ren Linguo, a 41-year-old congenitally disabled man, lives in Jianbala Village, Taohaotai Township, Qianguo County, Songyuan City. After learning Falun Gong he improved and was able to take care of himself. He has twice been detained and handed a labor camp sentence simply for believing in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. To date, he is still subjected to abuse in a labor camp.
Mr. Ren Linguo and his father Mr. Ren Laiyi had gone out in May 2001 to post banners. Jubaoshan Village secretary Yang Shan reported them. Father and son were detained for two weeks. Fifteen days later, officials from the Taohaotai Township Police Station extorted two thousand yuan from them before releasing them.
A local villager named Qu Xikun reported them in the spring of 2002. Regime agent Ding Dayi and other officials from the Taohaotai Township police station arrested them and took them to the Qianguo County Police Department. Mr. Ren Guolin was sentenced to one year in a labor camp; his father Mr. Ren Laiyi was detained for seven days. Police also confiscated their tape recorder, the tapes for doing exercises, and his mother Ms. Bi Xianglan's identification card.
The night of July 11, 2008 many officials arrested Ren Linguo and his father again. Officials participating in the arrest were: including Xue Liankun from the Village Security Division, Wang Zhande - Village Party secretary, Liu Guojun - commander of the Qianguo County Police Department, Cui Jun - head of the Taohaotai Township Office of Justice, Xu Gang - head of the police station and Ding Dayi. Mr. Ren Laiyi had quit practicing for a long time. The men were taken to the Qianguo County Police Department.
Mr. Ren Laiyi was released after undergoing brainwashing for five days. Mr. Ren Linguo was detained for two weeks and later sent to the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City, Jilin Province. He was again given a labor camp sentence and hasn't been released so far.
16. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Additional Information on the Persecution of Mr. Li Jun
Mr. Li Jun, 45, was a farmhand at the Hongguang No. 9 Farm in Qianguo County, Songyuan City, Jilin Province. Mr. Li Jun had gone to Chuangchun City on July 21, 1999 to appeal to the provincial government for help with other Falun Gong practitioners. He was later arrested and taken back to his hometown by Zhang Zhen, head of the Hongguang Farm Police Station. The police there extorted two thousand yuan from him and forced him to write and sign a guarantee statement, which promises not to practice Falun Gong in the future. Moreover, the police forced him to have his photo taken and harassed him many times.
In the autumn of 1999, Mr. Li Jun went to Beijing to appeal for help. However, Beijing police robbed him of the cash he brought with him for travel expenses, which was over one thousand yuan. They arrested and sent him to the Beijing Liaison Office of the Songyuan City Government. Hongguang Farm Police Station agents eventually transferred him back to Songyuan City and held him in the Qianguo County Detention Center for two weeks, as well extorting 3,200 yuan from him. Soon after his release, he was again arrested, this time at his home, and taken to the Qianguo County Detention Center. One month later he was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp, his sentence to be served in the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City.
Local police station agents again extorted money from him, this time 2,000 yuan, and 610 Office agents extorted 1,000 yuan from him in August 2001.
At 7:00 p.m. on June 10, 2008, officials from the Baiyilage Township Police Station captained by Piao Yufeng - head of the police station - broke into Mr. Li Jun's home, arrested him and took him to the Qianguo County Detention Center where he was held for one month, and was later sentenced to one-and-a-half years in a labor camp. So far, he is still in the Labor Team of the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City. Heavy manual labor - making hollow bricks, is taking its toll on him.
17. [Zunhua City, Hebei Province] Ms. Shan Shuying Arrested and Taken to a Brainwashing Center
Around 3 p.m. on August 18, 2009, Ms. Shan Shuying from Zunhua City was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center. Participating in the arrest were officials from the Zunhua Domestic Security Division, captained by the head Dong Guofeng. The police ransacked her home and took away many of her personal belongings, including one van.
18. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Persecution of Ms. Li Xinglian
Ms. Li Xinglian, 68, was arrested in June 2000 while doing the Falun Gong exercises in a park. Officials arrested her in July 2000 and took her to the Wujiawan Detention Center for doing the exercises at Baiquesi Mountain. Two years later, on September 26, 2002, the police confiscated Falun Gong books and 200 yuan cash from her and severely beat her, which caused a rib fracture. Then the police handcuffed her and sent her to the Lingquansi Detention Center in Suining City.
On November 5, 2003, the police again forcedly ransacked her home, arrested and took her to the Lingquansi Detention Center where she was held for twenty days. Following her release, the police often kept monitoring her.
The evening of February 17, 2004, the police again went to her home to harass her. She fled her home to avoid further persecution.
Ms. Li Xinglian was arrested and taken to the Chengbei Brainwashing Center in Suining City on September 25, 2007 and was detained there for two months. Moreover, her relatives were forced to submit more than 1,000 yuan for her living expenses.
19. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Kang Xia Arrested and Home Ransacked
Officials from the Tangu Police Station arrested Ms. Kang Xia from Shijiazhuang City and ransacked her home on August 24, 2009. She was then held at the Nanhuochang Detention Center.
20. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Jiang Lan Arrested
Around August 10, 2009, Ms. Jiang Lan from Deyang City, Sichuan Province was reported while clarifying the facts about Falun Gong in front of the Wuzhuangbu Furniture Market in Deyang City. She was subsequently arrested and detained in a mental hospital.

Ms. Qiu Xune, in her sixties, was a family member of an employee of the Beizao Coal Mine in the Longkou Mineral Bureau. She was reported on August 25, 2009 while clarifying the facts about Falun Gong, and was subsequently arrested by officials from the Beizao Coal Mine Police Station and the Beizao Property Management Company. Her home was also ransacked.

22. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wu Yongmei and Ms. Xin Yuanyuan Subjected to Forced Labor
Ms. Wu Yongmei from the Development Zone, Dalian City was arrested on July 4, 2009; Ms. Xin Yuanyuan from the Development Zone, Dalian City was arrested on July 6, 2009. They were sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City on August 14, and were sentenced to labor camp for two years and one year, respectively.
23. [Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province] Additional Information on the Persecution of Mr. Li Jie and Ms. Sun Yuqin
Mr. Li Jie and Ms. Sun Yuqin from Lanqi, Fengcheng City were reported on August 17, 2009 while clarifying the facts about Falun Gong in Hemu Village, Hongqi Town, Fengcheng City. Officials from the Hongqi Police Station captained by Ju Chunbo arrested them. They are currently held at the Baifang Detention Center in Dandong City.
