(Clearwisdom.net) (Correspondent from Shandong Province) Since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, Ms. Li Chuanfang from Yishui County, Shandong Province, has been arrested nine times. She has been detained in the Yishui County Detention Center, the Yishui City Brainwashing Center, the Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp, and other locations.
Ms. Li used to suffer from illnesses constantly. She often had conflicts with her husband. After she started practicing Falun Gong in 1998, she regained her health and her family became happy.
On July 20, 1999, several officials from the local government drove to her home in a big truck. They arrested her while she was working in the field. Then they ransacked her home and confiscated a tape recorder and some Falun Gong books. While she was in detention, they kicked her and tried to force her to give up Falun Gong, but Ms. Li refused. Her family had 500 yuan extorted from them before she was released.
In August 2000, Ms. Li was arrested again and detained in the local government compound. They pressured her to renounce Falun Gong and slander its founder. When she refused, she was beaten. After being detained for over two weeks, she was released after her family handed over 3000 yuan. Ms. Li was swollen and covered with bruises. She could not turn over in bed and was bedridden for days.
In 2003, Ms. Li and her husband wer arrested and detained in the local 610 Office. The officials from the 610 Office forced her daughter to borrow money from her classmates to pay for her parents' release. After over 10 days, her daughter paid1000 yuan and they were released.
On August 19, 2004, Tang Xiujun and other officials from the Yishui County State Security Division drove to Ms. Li's home. They took her from the field back to her home and pushed her into a chair. Then they started to ransack her home. They confiscated Falun Gong books and other materials and a bank deposit check totaling 3700 yuan. She was taken to the Yishui County Detention Center and held there for a month.
Later Ms. Li was sentenced to forced labor and transferred to the labor camp. At the labor camp, she was pressured to renounce Falun Gong. She was deprived of sleep when she refused to cooperate. She was confined in a solitary cell. She was not allowed to leave the cell to eat or to relieve herself. Several guards took turns monitoring her. She was mentally tortured and detained for over two years.
Over the past 10 years, Ms. Li has been repeatedly persecuted and detained and had funds extorted from her family. Her family has suffered great financial losses, and she has endured tremendous mental ordeals.
