(Clearwisdom.net) On April 24, 2009, the Baiyin City Police Department, the Baiyin City National Security Team and the Silong Road Police Station in Baiyin City, Gansu Province arrested eight Falun Dafa practitioners, including Mr. Hou Xingzhong, Mr. Zhang Tao, Ms. Cui Peizhen, Mr. Cui Youlin, Mr. Wang Hui, Ms. Li Qiaolian, Ms. Wang Qingfang and Mr. Wang Xiaocai.
Since March 2008, many Falun Gong practitioners were illegally sentenced to prison. Mr. Wang Jidu, a 65-year-old Baiyin City Postal Service Department retiree, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years. Ms. Zhang Yuxia, a 47-year-old resident of Lanzhou City, was fired from her public service job. When she found another job and went to Baiyin City on work-related business, she was arrested by Baiyin City police and sentenced to four years. Ms. Zhang Xiaojing, a 48-year-old former employee of the Baiyin City Changtong Factory, was unfairly dismissed and then sentenced to four years. Ms. Cui Jianping, a 48-year-old retired worker, was illegally sentenced to four years. Ms. Li Jinping, a 45-year-old farmer from Huining County, was sentenced to three years. Ms. Xu Xiaoying, in her 40s, formerly employed by the Pingchuan Mining Bureau Workers' Hospital, was sentenced to three years. Ms. Yang Hongxia, a 47-year-old former employee of the Pingchuan Mining Bureau, was handed a three-year suspended sentence. Ms. Jia Shujuan, a 40-year-old farmer from Huining County, was sentenced to three years. Mr. Yang Jianbin, a 35-year-old unemployed worker (formerly at the Baiying Corporation), was given a three-year suspended sentence. Seventy-three-year-old Ms. Liao Anan, a retired cadre of the Baiyin City Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee, was sentenced to five years.
