(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 14 provinces. In this report, 28 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 24 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Jianwei County, Sichuan Province] Elderly Ms. Du Pinzhen and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
Ms. Du Pinzhen, 83, who lives on Ziqiang Street in Qingxi Town, Jianwei County, Ms. Yang Fumei, 80, and Ms. Lin Darong, 60, were turned in to the police while telling others about the persecution on April 12, 2009. Officers from the Qingxi Police Station held the three practitioners in custody for three hours before releasing them. On May 14, the police took Ms. Lin into custody again. Ms. Lin has remained in custody since then.
2. [Chongqing] Mr. Yan Zeping Held in Custody for Two Months
Mr. Yan Zeping lives in Shuitu Town, Beipei District, Chongqing. The police took him into custody while he was delivering handouts. The police confiscated a copy of truth-clarification material. The police then searched his home and confiscated another copy. Mr. Yan was detained for a month. His detention was then extended to two months. The Beipei Court is scheduled to hold a trial on June 4.
3. [Shaowu City, Fujian Province] Ms. Zhu Jinghua Remains in Custody
On May 18, 2009, Ms. Zhu Jinghua was taken into custody by officers from the Shaowu City Domestic Security Division while telling others about the persecution in a park. Her 15-day detention ended today, but the police refused to release her. Ms. Zhu has been transferred to the Shaowu City Detention Center.

5. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Guizhen and Her Husband Mr. Teng Shicheng Taken into Custody; Their Home Searched
At 8:00 p.m. on May 13, 2009, officers from the Taibaozhuang Police Station in the Xiashan area took into custody Ms. Zhang Guizhen and her husband Mr. Teng Shicheng in their home in Zhaojiazhuangzi Village in Yinan County. The police confiscated a color TV, a VCD player, an MP4 player, an MP3 player, a copy of Zhuan Falun, and a set of Shen Yun performance DVDs. The elderly couple were held in custody until they were released on May 14.
6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhou Ailin Returns Home
At around 9:00 p.m. on March 22, 2009, Ms. Zhou Ailin was turned in to the police while posting leaflets with Falun Gong content. Officers from the Shuita Police Station in Jianghan District and from Section 1 of the Jianghan District Police Department took Ms. Zhou to the Dongxihu No. 1 Detention Center. Ms. Zhou was held there for 15 days. She returned to work on April 7 but then taken to the Erdaopeng Brainwashing Center. She went on a hunger strike in protest. On April 28, she was transferred to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center in the Qiaokou area. Her family took her home the following day.
7. [Yongqing County, Hebei Province] Mr. Sun Fengshu Taken into Custody at Family Store
On June 2, 2009, a group of officers from the Yongqing County 610 Office and the Political Security Section No. 1 broke into the small grocery store owned by Mr. Sun Fengshu's family. The officers confiscated a computer, and a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong. Mr. Sun was taken into custody.

8. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Shen Lianghua Taken into Custody
In February 2008, Mr. Shen Lianghua from Sanzhen Township in Guan County was taken to the Guanzhuang Township No. 2 Forced Labor Camp in Zhangqiu City. His term has ended, and on May 28, his daughter went to the labor camp to demand his release. The labor camp officials refused to release him. They did not take the clothes his daughter had brought for him and told her to send them via post office.
Mr. Shen's term was unlawfully extended for a month, and he was held in a small isolation cell. Zhang Zebo, an officer from the Sangzhen Township Police Station in Guan County, has been sent to the labor camp to monitor Mr. Shen.
9. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Yuzhi and Other Practitioners Persecuted
At around 9:00 a.m. on March 14, officers from the Liaolan Police Station in Pingdu City and officials from the Appeals Office broke into Ms. Wang Yuzhi's home while she was at work. The officers took away two copies of Falun Dafa books, a truth-clarification DVD, and some of her child's toys.
The same group of officers then broke into Ms. Tong Ximin's home. They took her and her husband to the police station and confiscated a dozen Falun Dafa books. The police extorted 1,000 yuan and 10 bags of flour before releasing the couple.
10. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Ying and Another Practitioner Taken into Custody
On May 27 and June 1, head of the Zhangwu County Domestic Security Division and local police officers took into custody Ms. Liu Ying and a male practitioner, Xiaojiezi (surname unknown), when they were putting up posters and signs. The police then searched the two practitioners' homes. The two practitioners are being held at detention center of the Zhangwu County Police Department.
11. [Sichuan Province] Two Practitioners, One Surnamed Gong, Taken into Custody by Local Police While Telling Others about Persecution on the Morning of June 3
12. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Yang Yumei Taken into Custody
At around 5:00 p.m. on June 1, 2009, several police officers from the Lushan District Police Department, the Domestic Security Division and the Xingang Town Police Station in Jiujiang City broke into Ms. Yang Yumei's home in Xingang Town. The officers took away a computer and Falun Dafa books. Ms. Yang was taken into custody.
13. [Heilongjiang Province] Inmates Beat Ms. Lei Min under Instigation of Prison Guards
Inmates serving terms on criminal charges were instigated by prison guards at the No. 4 Ward of Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison to throw a quilt over Ms. Lei Min and viciously beat her. Ms. Lei suffered severe injuries to her back and legs, and she is having difficulty walking. When her family visited her, she was not allowed to speak.
14. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Dong Er'ren Taken to Court Session
At 9:00 a.m. on June 2, 2009, Mr. Dong Er'ren was taken to a court session at the Qiaoxi Court in Zhangjiakou City. Mr. Dong stated in the courtroom that he had benefited from practicing Falun Gong, become a good person by following the principles of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance, and had not committed any crime.
15. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Xiaojun, Ms. Zhang Lishuang and Ms. Liu Aihua Face Unlawful Sentencing
16. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Officials at Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp Plan to Extend Ms. Zhang Yaqin's Term
Ms. Zhang Yaqin from Jilin City was taken into custody during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor, and her term is set to end on July 12, 2009. Officials at the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City have planned to extend her term by a month on the grounds that she has refused sign a Guarantee Statement renouncing Falun Gong.
17. [Pingchang County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Gong Shanrong, in His Eighties, Taken into Custody
At around 7:00 p.m. on June 2, 2009, members of the 610 Office, state security officers, and police officers in Pingchang County broke into Mr. Gong Shanrong's home. Mr. Gong, in his eighties, was taken into custody. The police searched his home and confiscated Falun Dafa books and materials.
18. [Shanghai] Ms. Wang Renxiang Held at Shanghai Railroad Detention Center
19. [Jingmen City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Chun'ai Taken into Custody
On May 29, 2009, Ms. Liu Chun'ai, around 60 years old, was taken to the Yuelianghu Police Department by Sun Dehong, a police officer, while she was exposing the persecution. Sun and domestic security officers from the Yuelianghu Police Department searched Ms. Liu's home that evening. They did not find anything. Ms. Liu was released the same day.

20. [Henan Province] Situations of Practitioners Taken into Custody in Puyang City
On April 24, 2009, officers from the Puyang City 610 Office and the police took Ms. Meng Fanqing into custody. Ms. Meng has been held at the Puyang City Detention Center.
At around 11:00 a.m. on May 22, members of the Puyang City 610 Office and the police took into custody Mr. Liang Hewan and his wife. The two practitioners are being held at the Puyang City Detention Center.
At around 10:00 a.m. on May 27, members of the Puyang City 610 Office and the police took into custody Ms. Xue Yuqin. Ms. Xue is being held at the Nanle County Detention Center. In order to protest the persecution, Ms. Xue has stayed on a hunger strike since June 1.
21. [Xinyi City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Cheng Li Taken into Custody by Members of Xinyi City 610 Office on the Afternoon of June 2
22. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Yang Xiurong Taken into Police Custody
At around 4:00 p.m. on April 28, over 20 officers from the Songshan District Domestic Security Division and the Mujiayingzi Police Station in Chifeng City broke into Ms. Yang Xiurong's home. They pounded on the door and took Ms. Yang, who is near 70 years old, to the Sanyanjing Detention Center.
23. [Anda City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Qu Shuhua and Mr. Jia Hongyun Held in Custody
Ms. Qu Shuhua and Mr. Jia Hongyun in Anda City were taken into custody in Taipingzhuang Town, Anda City by the police on the afternoon of June 2. The two practitioners are being held at the Anda City Detention Center.
24. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhao Yan Taken into Custody
Ms. Zhao Yan, 58, is retired from the Chuanshan District People's Hospital in Suining City. At around 8:00 a.m. on June 1, she was taken into custody by the police.
25. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wang Ying Held in Guangdong Women's Prison
Ms. Wang Ying, who lives in Tianhe District, Guangzhou City, was arrested by the Guangzhou City 610 Office while she was at work on April 15, 2008. In November 2008, she was sentenced to three years in prison. The sentencing process took just 10 minutes and did not follow legal procedures. Her family has not received a copy of the sentencing. Ms. Wang was held at the detention center until April 2009, when she was transferred to the Guangdong Women's Prison.
26. [Liaoning Province] Practitioners Searched in Dalian Forced Labor Camp
Practitioners are being held at the No. 1 and No. 2 Teams. Mr. Yao Wancheng, Mr. Wang Fengjun, Mr. Cong Shuxun, Mr. Su Xianwei, Mr. Shi Hongbo, and Mr. Zhang Lianwen are being held at the No. 1 Team. Mr. Yang Jicheng, Mr. Li Deqing, and Mr. Li Guanghe are being held at the No. 2 Team. On the afternoon of March 23, the officials conducted a search on all the inmates. The goal was to confiscate any cellular phones or other electronic devices.
27. [Anhua County, Hunan Province] Ms. Chen Lahua Taken into Custody
Ms. Chen Lahua, in her forties, lives in Meicheng Town, Anhua County. On May 31, Ms. Chen and fellow practitioners went to a farmer's market in Taoxi Town, Anhua County. Two plainclothes officers bought something from her booth. They found that the paper bills she gave them as change had truth-clarification statements. They immediately took her into custody, and the police then searched her home. Ms. Chen's whereabouts remain unknown.
28. [Bozhou City, Anhui Province] Ms. Liu Shuqin Taken into Custody; Her Home Searched
On the morning of June 2, 2009, Ms. Liu Shuqin was turned in to the police for clarifying the truth to others. Officers from the Xuege Police Station took her into custody. She was held in the police station for a day. The officers also searched her home. At around 8:00 p.m., Ms. Liu was transferred to a detention center.
Two other practitioners remain in custody in the detention center: Ms. Zhang Ling and Ms. Xi Shuhua. They have been unlawfully held there for six months.

29. [Beijing] Ms. Zhao Shuqin Mentally Unstable as a Result of Abuse in Labor Camp
Ms. Zhao Shuqin lives in Longyun Garden in the Jiugong area, Beijing. On January 24, 2008, she was unlawfully arrested. On June 24, 2008, she was taken to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. She was held at the No. 3 Division for over 20 days. She was then taken to the No. 1 Division with regular inmates. She has resisted persecution several times. As a result, she has been lifted off the ground, stretched, beaten, and electrically shocked. Ms. Zhao has developed symptoms of mental instability, as well as physical problems.
30. [Yongqing County, Hebei Province] Ms. Sun Fengshu Taken into Custody
At 10:00 a.m. on February 5, 2009, Chen Jun from the Yongqing County Police Department took orders from Liu Guangzhi, head of the Political Security Section, and took into custody Ms. Sun Fengshu. Ms. Sun was working at her small family grocery store at the time.
31. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Mr. Meng Zhomin Taken to Langfang Brainwashing Center
At around 10:00 p.m. on February 5, 2009, several officers from the Sanhe City Domestic Security Division broke into the photography studio owned by Mr. Meng Zhaomin's family. They forcibly took Mr. Meng into custody. He was held at the Sanhe Detention Center for over a week. He was then taken to the Langfang Brainwashing Center. It has been four months at this point. His family has not heard from him. His wife went to the brainwashing center several times and asked to see her husband. Her requests have all been rejected.
