(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Hou Xicai used to work in the financial department of the Mudanjiang City Prison in Heilongjiang Province. He lived in the No. 2-7 Building, Jingyuan Community, West 11th Road, Mudanjiang City. In March 2008, he was arrested by police officers from the Mudanjiang City 610 Office and State Security Division for being a Falun Gong practitioner. Since he refused to write a statement giving up Falun Gong, he was sentenced to four years of imprisonment one year later. Presently, he is being detained in the concentrated training team of Mudanjiang City Prison, where he is being subjected to persecution.
Mr. Dai Qihong also worked in the Mudanjiang City Prison, and he is well respected by his colleagues for his integrity and work. In March 2008, he was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials around the Mudanjiang City Airport. On March 20, 2008, his home was searched by police officers from the State Security Division and Yanjiang Police Station. Later, Mr. Dai was detained in a detention center. One year later, he was sentenced to five years of imprisonment. He is also being detained in the concentrated training team of the Mudanjiang City Prison.
When practitioners are first sent to the Mudanjiang City Prison, they are sent to this team for "training" along with other new inmates. Generally, the inmates are distributed to different wards three months later, but practitioners may stay in the team for as long as one year to force them to give up their beliefs. During this training, practitioners are not allowed to brush their teeth, wash their face, take a shower, or wash their clothes. They are regularly beaten and verbally abused. The practitioners are also forced to sit with their legs double-crossed for a long time and subjected to sleep deprivation. Further, they are prohibited from seeing their family members.
In the wards, the guards persecute the practitioners by getting the inmates involved and locking them in a small cell. The condition of the small cell is disgusting. Each small cell can only accommodate two practitioners lying on their backs or three practitioners lying on their sides. The cell is sealed with only one breathing hole in the door, and practitioners inside have difficulty breathing. They sleep on the cement floor and are usually detained there for 15 days at a time. Some of them have shackles and handcuffs which are fixed to an iron ring on the ground. Some were beaten and shocked with electric batons, and forced to sit cross-legged from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
