Being a genuine Dafa practitioner during this Fa-rectification period
I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1995. In 2000, while a fellow practitioner and I were posting truth-clarification fliers, we were both arrested and sent to Yaojia Detention Center. Then I was transferred to Dalian Forced Labor Camp for three years, where I resisted their so called "transformation" attempts. Later on, I was transferred again to Kuanshanzi Forced Labor Camp for further persecution.
In November 2003, after being released from the forced labor camp, I was constantly thinking about Fa-rectification. Because of the CCP's (Chinese Communist Party) brutal persecution, my wife, being afraid of the dangerous situation, strongly objected to my doing any Fa-rectification activities. In January 2004, when she went away to visit her mother, I took the opportunity to work with fellow Practitioner A to distribute three large bags of truth-clarification materials in a nearby village. Since she was a female, I carried all three bags, plus an apple she had brought. We didn't begin distributing materials until 4:00 p.m., that day. In the process of passing out fliers, Practitioner A twisted her ankle painfully, and she couldn't walk. To hide from the authorities, she hid behind a pile of cornstalks, as I learned later. Since I wasn't able to find her when it was time to return home, what would I say? In order to look for her, I had to hide the materials I had brought under a bridge, but I failed to find her. Nobody could imagine how anxious I was, and I begged Teacher to keep her safe.
In spite of what I was confronting, I decided to go on by myself. Without a moment's delay, I delivered the materials to each and every house in the village and then traveled on to the next one! Because I ran a little too fast, the cotton jacket I was wearing was soaked with sweat. Since there were still plenty of informational materials left, I continued walking to the next, much bigger village, with at least a thousand families, where I continued giving out materials to one household after another.
I kept delivering materials, one village after another, until I had given out all the materials. By that time it was five o'clock in the morning, and I was so tired and thirsty that I ate the apple I had carried for Practitioner A. Looking around, I recognized where I was and realized I had unknowingly walked about 50 miles.
After resting a little while, I felt better and headed home. Entering the city, I went first to Practitioner A's home. Seeing that she had returned home safely, I felt relieved but also sorry about her seriously swollen ankle.
Losing no time in saving people
In the process of clarifying the facts, I have been cultivating away many human attachments, including the attachment of fear. In fact, saving people is the most upright thing, and truth clarification is also the safest thing, because saving people is also correct, even based on the principles of the old universe. For many years, I have been clarifying the truth. Once, I encountered a person who intended to report me to the authorities. I said to him, "Nowadays, there are plenty of deceptive things going on around here. Have you ever met anyone who has cheated you for your own good? Who has wished you good fortune without asking for a penny in return?" After listening to what I said, that person finally gave up his bad intentions.
Because the CCP has done so many bad things, any event happening in society can be used to clarify the truth. Say "hello, how are you" first, then, get right on your main subject--you won't need to beat around the bush. It's easier to do it on rainy days and "sensitive" ones. As a cultivator, one must put Dafa as the first and highest priority, so that one can solidly walk his or her path. Saving people is top priority, the most important thing. One must put this concept in one's mind and body completely to achieve good results.
I've been feeling that it is not that people are difficult to save, it is that we do not put our whole mind and body into doing it. Ways to save people are not spelled out. There are no such packaged speeches. When the opportunity comes, it comes. When I was absorbed in the Fa, people were naturally pleased with whatever I said, and they appeared to be thankful and wanted to hear more.
When saving people, it is more important not to focus on the number of people being saved, but rather on how we save them. In fact, as long as we walk out of our homes, those people we come across are the ones that Teacher has arranged for us to save, because their main consciousness has understood and has been longing for salvation. To clarify the truth well, we must understand the Fa thoroughly. To understand the Fa well, it's advisable to take part in a small Fa-study group. For a person who walks the divine path, one must have the courage for continuous breakthroughs.
Clarifying the truth to save people isn't exactly the same as persuading people with reason; it is that people are touched by our compassion, which we have for their own sake. While I was in a train station, in front of travelers coming and going, I said, "Please remember: Falun Dafa is good, Truth-Compassion-Forbearance is good. You've been seeing one catastrophe after another, and there are more on the way! I sincerely hope that you will be safe." Seeing that I was compassionate, most people accepted the truth-clarification materials.
Clarifying the truth well and saving people are a reflection of one's cultivation level and the result of sublimation of our thoughts with the Fa. I normally deliver DVDs of the Shen Yun performances in person after clarifying the truth. Ideally, we should expose the evildoings of the CCP, clarify the truth about Dafa, advise people to make the "three withdrawals" (withdrawing from the CCP and/or its two youth organizations), and deliver DVDs all at the same time.
