At the Tulip festival last year, the organizer had forbidden the Divine Land Marching Band the opportunity to perform at the behest of the Chinese Embassy. After the incident, the Divine Land Marching Band members held a press conference to expose the incident to the media. On May 12, 2008, Chairman of the 'Canadian Tulip Festival' Teri Kirk and David Luxton, officially apologized to the Divine Land Marching Band and all members of the band for canceling the band's performance at the opening ceremony. They re-invited the band to perform at the closing ceremony on May 18, 2008. The Divine Land Marching Band returned to the Ottawa Tulip Festival and drew great attention from large numbers of audience members.

One year later, the Divine Land Marching Band again performed for three hours and once again became one of the high points of the festival for the audience.

Five days ago, the Divine Land Marching Band was honored with the Best Parade Procession Award at the 'St. Patrick's Day Parade.' One of the organizers, former chairman of the Irish community Bill Tobin, praised the Divine Land Marching Band's performance.
