(Clearwisdom.net) Editors' note: In both Western and Chinese cultures, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The universe will reward acts that are in harmony with this principle, while doing things such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.

1. Political Security Chief Zheng Xiasheng Died after Persecuting Falun Gong

Zheng Xiasheng was the Politics and Security Section deputy chief in the Jinyun County Police Department. Years ago, he was diagnosed with intestinal cancer and had surgery. After he practiced several kinds of qigong to improve his health, he heard about Falun Gong's superior healing benefits and learned to practice from friends. For a while he wore a Falun pin under his jacket and noticeably recovered his health. In 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched a violent attack against Falun Gong, Zheng took this as an opportunity to cash in for personal gain and persecuted practitioners as early as June 1999. Several days before the nationwide ban on Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Zheng and his associates went to Huzhen Town to verbally threaten practitioners. After he returned home, Zheng began to feel sick. Doctors found that his cancer had recurred. He died soon after.

2. 610 Office Head Zhao Permanently Handicapped

Zhao Geshui was former deputy administrator of Huzhen Town and head of the local 610 Office. He had been fully engaged in the persecution of practitioners since the beginning. In 1999, police detained more than sixty practitioners and took them to a brainwashing session. Zhao Geshui and his assistants physically and verbally abused these practitioners. They punched and kicked them, made them kneel on the floor, and crushed their lower legs with a heavy weight on a bamboo rod. They also used a torture called "five horses pulling the body apart." In the cold of winter, Zhao had people strip women practitioners' of their clothes and threw them outdoors. One practitioner told him, "Good will be rewarded, and evil will be punished." He was furious at the comment and hit her with wild vengeance.

Two weeks after the brainwashing session began, a severe illness befell Zhao Geshui. Doctors could do little to help. After a long time in the hospital and more than one hundred thousand yuan in expenses, he was but barely alive. He did not learn his lesson.

In 2001, he participated in another brainwashing session in Xiaoyun Village. He told the practitioners, "You Falun Gong people all believed that I received karmic retribution. That couldn't be more wrong. Last year I suffered a serious illness; the doctors even told my family to prepare for the worst. But I survived and am still in good shape. What kind of retribution is this? If there were such thing as retribution, I would have died long ago."

But only two weeks later Zhao and several his colleagues crashed their car into a tree a long a highway. Four of the six passengers were severely injured; two suffered minor injuries. Zhao Geshui broke his leg, an arm, and his jaw, and lost one of his eyes.

3. Zhao Geshui's Successor, Lu Zhiwei, Died

Lu Zhiwei was a township clerk in Huzhen. He was the main organizer during the 1999 brainwashing session. His responsibilities included collecting deposits and so called tuition fees from practitioners. Lu succeeded Zhao after his car accident as 610 Office head. He was also active in the persecution. Six months later, Lu was diagnosed with liver cancer.

After a long hospital stay, Lu managed to arrange for the regime to pay for a liver transplant. His first liver source was almost ready, but a foreigner got a higher priority on the list awaiting transplants. After a long wait, another "donor liver" would have been available at 3:00 p.m., but at 2:00 p.m. that very day Lu Zhiwei suddenly began to vomit blood and died instantly.

4. The Evil 610 Office Is a Curse

After two predecessors received retribution, Lu Hujin became the 610 Office head, unfortunate Number Three. Seeing what had happened to Zhao Geshui and Lu Zhiwei, Lu Hujin initially refused the appointment, but reluctantly accepted the job under pressure. Soon after he came to office he lost most of his hearing and now wears a hearing aid.

5. Policeman Li Guangren Dropped Dead

Li Guangren was an officer with the Huzhen Town Police. He was ferocious with practitioners and participated in their persecution, including that of practitioner Ms. Zhu Yuxian. One day while watering flowers on his deck he lost his balance and fell to the ground. Although the deck was not very high, he was still critically injured. It took a long time for someone to find him. He died on the way to the hospital.
