1. Ms. Xu Guizhen Arrested and Tortured
Ms. Xu Guizhen, 49 years old, lives at Group 4 of Lanqiao Village, Caishan Town, Huangmei County. In 1998, she read Zhuan Falun and learned the five sets of exercises.
On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin's regime launched the brutal persecution of Falun Dafa. In June 2000, Ms. Xu went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, but was reported by villagers from her area. Officer He Yajun, deputy head of the Caishan Town Police Station, went to Beijing to find her and over twenty more practitioners. He Yajun claimed that he was on a business trip to Beijing, and said, "All of you go back, the Caishan police won't give you any trouble." They believed He Yajun and were arrested the minute they stepped off the train.
During interrogation, many practitioners were brutally tortured and had to pay for rental cars for the officers. Officer Yin Xiaofeng grabbed Ms. Xu by the head and threw her towards the iron gate, and then hit her with a police baton.
The next day, they transferred her to the Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center. Wu Dengqi, an officer from the Caishan Town Police Station, interrogated her and demanded that she renounce Falun Dafa, which she refused to do. After 15 days of brutal torture, they demanded that she step on Teacher's photo, but she refused. The officers extorted 1,000 yuan, and Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center extorted 300 yuan from her. Her family was charged 50 yuan for a visit with her.
In June 2002, an officer at the Caishan Town Police Station ripped open her exercise pants from top to bottom. After being tortured for one night, Ms. Wu was taken to the Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center. Caishan Town Police Station officers interrogated her at Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center, demanding that she renounce Faun Dafa, which she refused to do. This time she was detained for 15 days and guards extorted 300 yuan and demanded 50 yuan for each family visit.
2. Ms. Xiang Fenge Arrested and Tortured
Ms. Xiang Fenge, 44 years old, lives at Group 6 of Lanqiao Village, Caishan Town, Huangmei County. Before practicing Falun Dafa, she was often angry with her mother-in-law. After reading Zhuan Falun, she began to live by the Falun Dafa principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She then was able to treat people kindly, became tolerant and was no longer angry with her mother-in-law.
In December 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, Teacher and practitioners. She walked to the Wuxue City Train Station and was arrested by police at the Qichun Train Station. They forced her and several practitioners to get off the train and took them to the Qichun Police Station. Caishan Town Police Station manager Wu Dengqi ordered several officers to escort them to the Caishan Town Police Station.
As soon as they arrived at the police station, political instructor Tao Dengjiu, Xiong Xiong and three officers brutally beat them. Tao Dengjiu hit Ms. Xiang in the temples with a torch, while others punched and kicked her and stepped on her body after she fell down. She was released after 24 hours.
Several days later, officer Wu Dengqi, the Caishan Town Comprehensive Management Office cadre Li Jiliang, and politics and law committee member Hu Tongyi held a brainwashing session in Caishan Town. They took Ms. Xiang and over twenty other practitioners to the Caishan Town Police Station, forced them to cover the police station courtyard with mud, and demanded that they renounce Falun Dafa. After over twenty days, the practitioners began a hunger strike. The police later released them.
In January 2000, Huangmei County Police Station director Luo and head Fei Yuzhong of Lanqiao Village harassed Ms. Xiang at her home. They found Falun Dafa books, so officer Luo called the Caishan Town Police Station. Officers Tao Dengjiu and Yin Xiaofeng came in a police car to her home and arrested her. Yin Xiaofeng hung her from the window and fondled her breasts. After interrogation, they took her to the Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center during the night. At the detention center, Huangmei County Public Security Bureau section chief Liu interrogated her and asked whether she still wanted to practice. She replied, "I will still practice, even if my head is chopped off." Chief Liu then brutally beat her with his fists. They tortured her for 15 days, extorted 300 yuan from her, and charged over 50 yuan for each family visit.
In June 2000, Ms. Xiang Fenge went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. Caishan Town officer He Yajun claimed that no one would arrest her on her return to Caishan Town, but the local police arrested and interrogated her. Practitioners were brutally beaten. Yin Xiaofeng hit her viciously with a police baton and transferred her to the Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center the same night. She did the exercises, and guard Fei Jingshui ordered inmates to drag her out of the cell and hit her with an over-a-meter-long bamboo stick. She went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. Fei Jingshui ordered inmates to tie her to a wooden ladder with her four limbs stretched apart. Prisoners, when tying her up, ripped open her top and groped her. Prisoners held down her head while Fei Jingshui opened her mouth with a soup spoon and force-fed her with salt water. Her husband had also gone to Beijing with her. He was detained at the Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center. Nobody looked after their family's crops, which caused financial losses of several thousand yuan. Ms. Xiang was detained for 60 days, and guards at Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center extorted 1,800 yuan from the couple.
In June 2003, Caishan Town Police Station assistant manager He Yajun, Chen Yahua, village cadre of Lanqiao Village, and three officers went to Ms. Xiang's home at around 10 p.m. They ransacked her home and arrested her. Four officers from the Domestic Security Division of Huangmei County interrogated her. Two officers brutally struck her face with books. Her face was swollen and blood stained the area around her. Police took her to the bathroom and attempted to take off her clothes. She loudly shouted in protest, and it was only then that they left her home.
Shortly after Ms. Xiang was released, four officers from Caishan Town, including Mei Jianhua, came to her home. Officer Li pinched the neck of her 14-year-old child. Several villagers expressed anger at their treatment of the child. The police then took Ms. Xiang to the Caishan Town Police Station and after interrogation to the Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center. She was detained for 28 days. Caishan Town Police Station extorted 900 yuan and Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center extorted 500 yuan.
3. Ms. Guo Xianhua Arrested and Tortured
Ms. Guo Xianhua, 64 years old, lives at Group 6 of Lanqiao Village, Caishan Town, Huangmei County. Before she practiced Falun Dafa, her hands were frequently numb and she had many illnesses. In 1998 she read Zhuan Falun, learned the five sets of exercises and lived by Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She did the exercises daily, and her body quickly recovered.
In December 1999, she walked to the Wuxue Train Station and was arrested by police at the Qichun Train Station. Caishan Town Police Station manager Wu Dengqi ordered several police officers to transfer her and other practitioners from Qichun Train Station to the Caishan Town Police Station. She was interrogated for a whole night. After that, Wu Dengqi and village cadre Fei Ruzhong forced twenty practitioners to fill the police station courtyard with mud from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., without a break for lunch. Officers often interrogated the twenty practitioners and Ms. Guo Xianhua and tortured them for 15 days. The practitioners held a hunger strike to resist the persecution, and they were released.
In June 2000, Guo Xianhua again went to Beijing. Caishan Town police officer He Yajun claimed that she would not be arrested upon her return to Caishan Town. However, she was indeed arrested and interrogated.
During the interrogation, officer Chen Jiyuan beat her brutally with a police baton. Officer Wang Ganlin asked Ms. Guo, "Who asked you to go to Beijing?" He struck her face with books over ten times. Her mouth was swollen and teeth loosened, and she felt pain for a long time. The following day, she was transferred to the Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center and detained for 15 days. Then, she was detained at the Caishan Town Police Station, and officers demanded that she step on Teacher's photo. She refused. On the third day, the officers and village cadres demanded again that she step on the photo, and she refused. The Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center extorted 300 yuan, Caishan Town Police Station extorted 1,000 yuan, and family visits cost over 100 yuan.
4. Ms. Tian Feng Arrested and Tortured
Ms. Tian Feng, 50 years old, lives at Group 3 of Lanqiao Village, Caishan Town, Huangmei County. On February 15, 1998, she started practicing Falun Dafa. After reading Zhuan Falun, she realized that this was the great Buddha Law that she had been looking for. She learned the exercises, and her illnesses disappeared.
In December 1999, she walked to Wuxue Train Station and was arrested by police at the Qichun Train Station, taken to the Qichun Police Station, and then transferred to Caishan Town Police Station. The officers cursed at her and searched her. One officer brutally beat her with a police baton. She was released the next morning.
Ms. Tian Feng was later forced to fill the police station courtyard with mud starting from 6 a.m. for 15 days. Practitioners, including Ms. Tian, went on a hunger strike and were released.
In June 2000, Ms. Tian went to Beijing. She practiced the exercises at Tiananmen Square and was arrested. After returning to Caishan, officers arrested, interrogated and brutally beat her. Officer Yin Xiaofeng beat her with a police baton. Caishan Town police also ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Dafa books. On the following day, she was transferred to the Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center and detained for two and a half months. Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center extorted 1,500 yuan, Caishan Town Police Station extorted 1,000 yuan, and family visits cost over 200 yuan.
In 2001, Caishan Town Police Station officers arrested Ms. Tian, and one of the officers threatened to take off her clothes. Officer Tao Dengjiu brutally hit her on the back with a 5-inch-wide wooden plank until it broke. Then, she was locked in a cell for one night. The next day, she was taken to the Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center. When she went on a hunger strike, officer Fei Jingshui ordered prisoners to drag her out of the cell and tie her to wooden stairs. Fei threatened to feed her salt for eleven days and forced her to drink a bowl of concentrated salt water. When she recited the Falun Dafa teachings, Fei Jingshui ordered prisoners to drag her out of the cell and beat her with wooden sticks. She was held and abused for four and a half months. Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center extorted 2,000 yuan, and family visits cost 200 yuan.
In 2005, Caishan Town Police Station officers and village cadre Fei Guohai took her to a brainwashing session at Liying Village, Caishan Town. She was able to escape.
5. Mr. Fei Yuetang Arrested and Tortured
Mr. Fei Yuetang, 60 years old, lives at Group 1 of Lanqiao Village, Caishan Town, Huangmei County. He is a painter, and had contracted an occupational disease and vomited phlegm, pus and blood. He also suffered from chronic headaches, bursitis in the shoulder, lumbar vertebra problems, arthritis, gastric disease, and nerve atrophy in his fingers. After starting to practice Falun Gong in 1996, he regained his health.
On April 25, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party persecuted practitioners in Tianjin. In mid-July, Mr. Fei and twenty practitioners decided to go to Wuhan City. They wanted to take a train to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. At a Huangmei County highway intersection, they were stopped by Huangmei County Public Security Bureau police and taken to the Hushibo Police Station. The next day, officer Wu Dengxi of the Caishan Town Police Station went to the Hushibo Police Station and escorted the practitioners and Mr. Fei to Caishan Town Police Station for interrogation. After that, he and twenty practitioners went to Caishan Town Police Station every morning to fill the courtyard with mud. They were held and abused for over twenty days. After they went on a hunger strike, police released them.
In June 2000, he again went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. At Tiananmen Square, the police brutally beat him. He was talked into returning to his area by officer He Yajun, who took him to the Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center the same night. For several days, prisoners brutally beat him.
Mr. Fei was persecuted at the Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center for over two months. When public interrogation sessions were held at Caishan Town High School, he was taken from Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center by the police to be publicly interrogated. After that, police tried to make him write a guarantee statement, but he refused. The Caishan Town Police Station extorted 2,000 yuan, Huangmei County No. 1 Detention Center extorted 1,500 yuan, and family visits cost over 200 yuan.
After that, Caishan Town Police Station officers often harassed him.
6. Ms. Li Yue'e Arrested and Tortured
Ms. Li Yue'e, 67 years old, lives at Group 1 of Lanqiao Village, Caishan Town, Huangmei County. She used to suffer from many illnesses. Not long after practicing Falun Dafa, she became healthy and sang the praises of Dafa to everyone she met.
After the CCP began to persecute Falun Dafa, she went to fellow practitioners' homes to do the exercises. She was reported and arrested by Caishan Town Police Station officers Wu Dengqi, He Yajun, and Tao Dengjiu. They interrogated her, and on the second day, she was taken to the Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center and detained for 15 days. She was forced to perform hard labor daily at the Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center. Huangmei County No. 2 Detention Center extorted 300 yuan from her, and her family had to pay 50 yuan when visiting her.
