(Clearwisdom.net) I am a music teacher in a county high school. Because of my age I was assigned to work in the school library in 2004. During class breaks, I often looked at the students and thought, "How will these students learn the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution?"
My initial teaching assignment for the first semester of 2008 was a music class. It was a six-month course, and there were 18 classes of freshman students, about 1,000 students. I was excited once the decision was announced. Had Master not arranged this for me to save them? I thought, "Master, please rest assured. I will not let this opportunity go!
Based on my many years of teaching experience, I know that the impression students have during the first class is quite important. How should I display a Dafa disciple's demeanor to the students? Master gave me the wisdom.
First, I was fully prepared for the class and thought through a great opening speech. When the bell rang I went into the classroom, smiled at the students and greeted them, "Hello, everyone!" Students responded, "Hello, Teacher!"
I wrote my name on the blackboard and said, "I'm 54 years old and left my teaching position four years ago. Today I have the opportunity to learn together with all of you. What do you call this?" Some students answered, "This is predestined relationship." I was glad for the reply, "Great! Otherwise, why would a grandmother teach you music?" Some students said, "What a pretty and young grandmother!" My relationship with the students was already becoming close.
I picked up the thick music book and told the students that this would be included in the college entry exam. The students were disappointed to hear that. I told them not to be afraid, and that as long as we treated one another with sincerity and were patient and tolerant, together we would be able to accomplish this.
I presented the students with a respectful and trustworthy impression during the first class meeting and established a good starting point for explaining Falun Gong and the persecution later on.
Based on the first day's meeting, the students welcomed me and were looking forward to the class. I was able to begin each class with the contents of the book and gradually find opportunities to mention Falun Gong principles and the persecution. For example, when studying Tibetan religious music, I talked to them about belief and cultivation. A few students asked, "Teacher, why are you always so healthy and energetic at this age?" I explained the connection between the human body and the universe, and how to assimilate to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the principles of the universe. When I left the room after class some students shouted, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!"
Students presented me with cards during the Teachers' Festival. I realized that this was Master's encouragement. Here are a few quotes of what they wrote: "Dear teacher, You are an angel, very nice and lovely. You bring us happiness." "Your energy makes you look like a 17-year-old girl, your pure heart makes you like a kind-hearted young girl, and you always look so young. Dear grandmother, my best teacher and friend, best wishes."
After the first month's exam, several teachers came to assess my class. I had encouraged the students with good words and scores, and did not criticize the students who earned low scores. I remembered Master's teaching of looking inward. I told the students, "I'm sorry. It was because I did not teach you well that you did not memorize the concepts." The teachers and students were shocked by what I said.
From then on, students were motivated to learn music. I tried my best to make the class interesting. A few parents told me, "Our children said they could not stop listening to you in the music class, which tells how great your class is."
The result of the final exam was very good. The principal said, "You are a great teacher. We need teachers like you." This experience made me realize that while speaking of Falun Gong's principles and the persecution one has to maintain righteous thoughts and righteous actions. Otherwise, the evil factors could take advantage of us.
One day the Political Education Section chief called me to his office. I immediately knew that it might be related to my mentioning the persecution of Falun Gong while speaking to the students. I looked inward right away and found that I had the mentality of doing things, zealotry and fear of being reported. Having found my shortcomings, I first corrected myself from the Fa's perspective and negated the evil factors.
I sent righteous thoughts as I walked to his office. I was unafraid and calm. I thought this was a great opportunity to tell him of Falun Gong and the persecution. I smiled and answered his questions. He was initially hostile and said parents reported me for speaking of Falun Gong in the class. I felt responsible for the parents committing crimes against Dafa because of my actions.
With my compassion and the field from my righteous thoughts he was no longer hostile. We first talked about the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Then we went from the history of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to "Tiananmen Massacre" on June 4, 1989, and then to the persecution of Falun Gong. We reached a common understanding. He said he was a student in 1989 and knew about the cruelty of the CCP. He asked me to be careful and also said he had seen and felt the power of Dafa from me. We talked for about an hour and became friends. He went to explain to the principal for me.
Later the section chief asked me for a DVD of the 2009 Shen Yun Performance. I gave him the 2008 version as well. Prior to that he also wrote letters and mailed information explaining the persecution and Falun Gong principles.
I returned to the library after the summer break. Students asked why I didn't teach any longer. I told them it was due to the school's need. They were unhappy. I took the opportunity to tell them about quitting the CCP and explained that it is important that we met one another, and I wished them the best. I asked them to remember, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good! Falun Dafa is good." They were happy. I gave each of them a truth-clarifying CD and asked them to tell their friends and relatives as well.
Some students understood the truth and brought their friends over to listen to the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution. Looking at these smiling faces who understand the truth about Dafa I was so grateful for Master's benevolent salvation! I always find an opportunity for any student coming to the library to explain things to those who have not yet quit the CCP.
I will take full advantage of any environment Master arranges for me on my future cultivation path, to cultivate myself and save more sentient beings.
