(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Guifang from Xuhui District, Shanghai, was illegally arrested on April 23, 2009. At present, she is detained at the Xuhui District Detention Center. The government officials plan to sentence her.
On October 21, 2008, the personnel and police from the 610 Office and the Baoshan District public security bureau broke into her house and arrested her. They also took away Falun Gong books, a computer, and several thousand in yuan bills that had facts about Falun Gong written on them. She was taken to the Baoshan Detention Center.
That same evening, Ms. Li showed serious symptoms of heart disease and was taken to the nearby hospital. The nurse tried to inject her with drugs but was not able to. The medical personnel could not do anything about her symptoms, so they sent her back to the detention center. Later, the police took her to the General Hospital of Nanhui Jail. Ms. Li suffered tremendously during her detention. The police intimidated her with threats and applied high-pressure interrogation techniques on her. Twenty-eight days later, they sent her home and ordered the personnel from the Public Security Bureau at Xuhui branch to keep her under surveillance.
Once the personnel from the Public Security Bureau at Xuhui branch took over her case, they constantly went to her home to harass her. The police banged on the door and claimed that those under custody must show up whenever they were notified, or they could be detained again. The threats made her family very anxious.
The committee secretary was afraid that Ms. Li was going to flee. So on April 23, he conducted a stakeout outside of her home. On April 24, the police tempted her to leave the house and arrested her. They searched her house again and took her computer, books, and other personal items.
It has been five months since Ms. Li was first detained at the Xuhui District Detention Center. The family has not heard from her and are not allowed to bring her money or any necessary items. Ms. Li's family went to the police station to inquire about her situation and were told to await her sentencing. The family also went to the detention center, but could not obtain any information.
