Ms. Zeng Fanying
Ms. Zeng Fanying, 48, lives on Fanrong Street, Changchun Road, Chuanying District, Jilin City. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. She was formerly a section chief at the Tone Dyeing Workshop at the Jilin City Woolen Mill as well as a coach.

After July 20, 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong, Ms. Zeng went to appeal for the right to practice. She went to both the city and provincial government, but the police prevented her from seeing anyone. Finally, she headed to Beijing to appeal. On her way, she was arrested and detained at the Jilin City Detention Center for 15 days.
At about 4:30 a.m. on September 24, 2009, the Jilin City Police Station organized and ordered the Gaoxin Police Station of Jiangnan District to arrest Ms. Zeng, who was working in "Fugang Huoyu." They took her to the Changchun Road Police Station in the Chuanying District for further persecution.
At around 6:00 a.m., officers from the Jilin City Police Station, the Chuanying Branch Police Station, and the Changchun Road Police Station broke into her home and took two desktop computers, three CD burners, five printers, one copy machine, four USB drives, one router, three MP3 and three MP4 players, thousands of blank CDs and DVDs, two boxes of printing paper, one box of ink, Shen Yun DVDs, the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party DVDs, over 300 Falun Gong informational CDs, and a lot of Falun Dafa materials. Most of the valuable personal property in her home was taken.
At about 10:00 a.m., after her son heard about her arrest, he immediately went to the Changchun Police Station and asked to see his mother. The police turned him down, offering all kinds of excuses. Ms. Zeng's son was eventually attacked by a group of officers that forced him out of the police station. Both of his arms were scratched.
At around 7:40 p.m. that same night, the Chuanying Branch Police Station ordered the Changchun Road Police Station to transfer Ms. Zeng to the Jilin City No. 3 Detention Center. She was detained in room 0602 on the the second floor. Her physical condition was not good during her detention there. Her family members tried to visit her, but the police would not allow them to see her, claiming they were preventing the spread of the H1N1 flu. Ms. Zeng Fanying has so far been detained for 24 days.
Ms. Xu Shuliang
Ms. Xu Shuliang, 44, lives near the Linjiangmen Market at Chuanying District, Jilin City.

At around 4:30 a.m. on September 24, 2009, a female knocked on door of Ms. Xu Shuliang's home and said, "I am your neighbor living upstairs. We have a water leak in our home. The control is in your home." Ms. Xu Shulaiing's husband replied, "We do not have any water controls." She said, "Open the door and let me take a look."
When Ms. Xu's husband opened the door, a gang of plainclothes police broke in, pushed him onto the sofa, and then arrested Ms. Xu, who was doing the sitting meditation.
The police took away one computer, over a dozen truth-clarification CDs, Master Li's portrait, 600 yuan, and also over 100 yuan that Ms. Xu Shuliang had earned from cutting people's hair.
As Ms. Xu Shuliang was being manhandled out the door, she cried out, "Falun Dafa is good!" Right in front of her home is the morning market area, and many people were gathered there. Afraid of their evil deeds being exposed, the police covered her mouth and beat her while pushing her into the car.
Ms. Xu's husband, who does not practice Falun Gong, was also taken in the police car and detained for the whole morning. The police asked him, "Do you practice Falun Gong?" He replied, "Falun Gong is good. I want to practice, but I cannot do well." He further talked about how good Falun Dafa is. The police threatened him and prevented him talking anymore about Falun Gong.
When the police broke into their home, Ms. Xu's husband was greatly distressed. He began to have heart attack symptoms after the arrest, and he now has to go to the hospital every day to have injections. When Ms. Xu was arrested, she was only wearing pajamas. The police would not even allow her family members to deliver a change of clothes for her.
At that time, the Chuanying Branch Police Station prepared a detention notice and Ms. Xu was taken to room 0604 on the second floor at the Jilin City Detention Center. She has now been detained for 24 days.
Her family later went to the Linjiangmen Police Station and asked for her release and the return of their personal property. The police returned the computer and CD burner, but they would not admit that they took 600 yuan and over 100 yuan in pocket money that she had earned giving people haircuts. Linjiangmen Police Station officers tried to shirk responsibility and told her family to go to the Chuanying Branch Police Station to ask to see her.
Police from Jilin City No. 3 Detention Center called several times and ordered her family to deposit some money for Ms. Xu. They deposited 500 yuan twice, for a total amount of 1000 yuan.
