(Clearwisdom.net) (By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province) Mr. Wang Wenzhang, 60, is a native of Xifeng County in Tieling City, Liaoning Province. Because he practices Falun Gong, he was repeatedly detained by the police. On July 9, 2009, he was sentenced to four years in jail. His wife, Wen Qinglan, also 60, was forced to leave home and hide. Ms. Wen was arrested on September 23, 2009 in Xinmin City and sent to the Shenyang No. 1 Detention Center, where she is to this day. Her family members are not permitted to visit her.

Mr. Wang began to practice Falun Gong in the fall of 1998. After practicing, he changed his bad temper and quit smoking and drinking, and all his diseases disappeared. After his family members saw how he changed for the better, they also became practitioners. His wife, Wen Qinglan, had many serious health conditions, the worst being her headaches. When she had one, she often hit her head against the wall the pain was so bad. After practicing Falun Gong, her headaches were cured, along with all her other conditions. Mr. Wang's oldest daughter, Wang Xinyu, had a fungus on her face, and all kinds of treatments had failed. After she practiced Falun Gong, the fungus disappeared.

In July 1999, Jiang Zemin's communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong. Mr. Wang, his family members, and other fellow practitioners went to Changchun to clarify the truth to the government. After they returned, the local police arrested them, handcuffed them, and detained them for a whole night. The police also extorted 10,000 yuan from them before releasing them. After that, the local police and government personnel often harassed the family.

One morning right after Ms. Wen got out of bed, local police officer Liu Zhenqing and several other officers rushed into her house. They searched it but failed to find any evidence. That did not stop them from arresting her. She was taken to a local police station and detained for 15 days.

In July 2000, county policeman Li Chengjie, local policeman Li Xiaobo, and a few other policemen went to Mr. Wang's house. They arrested him and his second daughter, Ms. Wang Xinying. Father and daughter were each sentenced to one year of forced labor. Mr. Wang was sent to Tieling Forced Labor Camp; Ms. Wang Xinying was sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Wang was very cruelly tortured in Tieling. His oldest daughter, Ms. Wang Xinyu, also traveled to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken back to her hometown, where the authorities extorted 1,000 yuan from her. To pay the extortion, her family had to sell a calf.

After that, Ms. Wang Xinyu's husband refused to let her practice Falun Gong. He forced her to take up an unsavory practice that eventually caused her to become insane. In June 2008, she committed suicide at age 33.

Mr. Wang Wenzhang was distributing information materials about Falun Gong and the persecution on March 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pinggang Town marketplace. Someone reported him to the police, and he was arrested by officers from Pinggang Town. At around 1:00 p.m. the Pinggang Police Station sent about 20 police officers in five police cars to Mr. Wang's house. In a two-hour stand off, the police forced Mr. Wang to open the door and confiscated a laptop computer, a color inkjet printer, a 25-inch TV, a DVD player, a VCD player, Falun Gong books, Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs, informational material, and 400 yuan in cash. The police also closed their 30-year-old, family-owned convenience store. Mr. Wang's wife, Ms. Wen, was forced to leave home and go into hiding.

On July 9, 2009, the Xifeng County Court held a secret trial to sentence Mr. Wang to four years in jail. According to a reliable source, no family members could attend the trial. When asked later, his family said they did not receive any notice in advance. After the trial, someone called his second son-in-law to inform the family of the outcome of the trial.

After Ms. Wen became homeless, she lived a very difficult life. She had no safe place to stay and little money; pressure from her relatives and society was enormous. Despite the adversity, she continued to clarify the truth to people in order to save them. On September 23, 2009, when she was talking to people about Falun Gong in Qianshahe Village, Haniu Town, Xinmin City, the police arrested her. She is now being held at the Shenyang No. 1 Detention Center.

Mr. Wang family's case is one of thousands of cases of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and their families. We appeal to people with a sense of justice to help stop the persecution of Falun Gong.
