(Clearwisdom.net) (Correspondent from Jilin) Mr. Gao Weixi was sentenced in 2008 to a seven-year term and is being held in Shiling Prison in Siping City, Jilin Province. His family went to the prison to visit him several times but were turned away each time. According to sources inside the prison, Mr. Gao has never given up his belief in Falun Gong, and this has led to intensified persecution by the prison authorities. At present, Mr. Gao is in a poor health, and his family are deeply worried.
According to a minghui.ca report on July 20, 2009, Mr. Gao was severely tortured by Han Jingjun, Zhao Fengyang and others in the Tenth Division of the Shiling Prison for his practice of Falun Gong. His body was covered with wounds from the beatings.

Mr. Gao has endured numerous abuses since July 20, 1999. He was detained twice in 2000. In December 2000 he was followed, arrested and subsequently sentenced to three years of forced labor by the Changchun City Public Security Department, and the Nanguan District Public Security Branch. He was detained in Weizigou Forced Labor Camp and then Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. The persecution caused a relapse of his old illnesses, and the forced labor camp had to send Mr. Gao to the hospital for treatment.
On May 9, 2007, Mr. Gao was arrested by officers from the Jilin Province Public Security Bureau and the Nanguan District Public Security Branch, and was later detained at the Changchun City No. 3 Detention Center.
On April 29, 2008, the Nanguan District Court sentenced Mr. Gao to a seven-year term. Mr. Gao refused to sign on the sentencing document and appealed to the Changchun City Intermediate Court, asking that the district court's ruling be revoked. In the meantime, Mr. Gao remained detained at the No. 3 Detention Center. He was taken to the Shiling Prison in Siping City in November 2008.
Mr. Gao is a former hockey coach of the Professional Sports Team in Jilin Province and the China National Hockey Team. He was once a coach of the Hong Kong Hockey Team. He has led the teams to numerous international games and won many titles for the country, the province and the city. He is well reputed in China's hockey teams.
Over the years, Mr. Gao had suffered dozens of illnesses, such as coronary heart disease, atherosclerosis, cholecystitis, gastritis, arthritis, glaucoma and bone hyperplasia. Although he had visited many doctors for treatment, there had been little improvement. Eventually he was bedridden.
In 1998, Mr. Gao began to practice Falun Gong. Since then, his illnesses disappeared and he was once again a healthy person. Besides his health improving, he also got rid of his bad temper and became more patient and considerate. During the 1998 Winter Games, he was hired by the Hong Kong Hockey Team as its coach, and was highly recognized by its players and other coaches. In early 1999, Mr. Gao told the Jilin Education TV Station during an interview: "It is Falun Dafa that saved me and gave me a new life."
