She was surprised by the dance "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution." She didn't expect to see a dance depicting persecution in China on the stage in mainstream Western society.
Linda said she witnessed the persecution firsthand when she was in China in April 2000. She saw policemen beating Falun Gong practitioners who were doing the meditation on Tiananmen Square. She watched the policemen take away the practitioners.
She took a photo of the scene before she realized that taking such a photo may be dangerous and may get her into trouble in China. She still has that picture.
Linda said that the photo is historical evidence of the persecution, and she will hold on to it. She said the scenes manifested in the dance were real and made people think.
She liked the music and was deeply touched. She said that her make-up was ruined by tears. She started crying since the first program, because it reminded her of old times.
She has been to China and Hong Kong, and the programs reminded her of her experiences there.
She said that the pure dance and music connect people's hearts.
She said the show is educational for children as well, as they can learn a lot about Chinese culture from it.
Professional dancer Z
Ms. Z, a professional dancer, saw the show on January 17. She learned about the rich history of China through the show. She said the show gave her a holy feeling.
The dance that depicted persecution stood out to her. She said it was very touching. She was awestruck when the practitioner, who was beaten to death, ascended to heaven. She said it made the ending hopeful, rather than sad. It was an incredible and moving story to her.
