(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, Jinan City authorities have been plundering Falun Gong practitioners' homes without following any legal procedures. Police officers are not providing or keeping lists of items taken away, and they are also seizing cash and identification cards from practitioners' homes.
Practitioner Ms. Yang Suhua, over 50 years old, is a former employee of the Oil Depot of the Jinan Military Region Logistics Department. She resides in the company dormitory. She was re-hired as an accountant after she retired. At around 10 p.m. on July 16, 2008, members of the National Security Office tried to break into her home, but they were stopped by the guard on duty at the dormitory. Later, they got help from the dormitory manager and took her away. They searched her home without a warrant and confiscated her computer, printer, CD burner, copier, cell phone, and Falun Gong informational materials. Ms. Yang's current whereabouts are unknown.
At around 11 p.m. on July 16, 2008, over 20 people from the local 610 Office and the local police station broke down Mr. Zhang Xingwu's front door and entered his home. They illegally arrested Mr. Zhang and his wife, Liu Pinjie. That night, Mr. Zhang was taken to the Jinan Detention Center. On the following day, Ms. Liu was taken home by her family after they posted bail of 10,000 yuan. That night, the police ransacked their home and took many personal items, including their IDs, a bank card, a cell phone, a computer, printer, and the family safe with several hundred thousand yuan cash inside, representing their life savings. Officials then changed the lock on the door and stayed in their home for two weeks. On August 6, Ms. Liu went to the Weijiazhuang Police Station to request a list of items that had been confiscated. She was arrested and taken to a detention center.
At around the same time, plainclothes police went to the home of Ms. Luo Xiufang. When Ms. Luo refused to open the door, they broke into her home through a second floor window. This occurred at 3 a.m. They proceeded to arrest Ms. Luo and her daughter, Sun Jing. Ms. Luo was held at the Jinan Detention Center on the morning of July 17, but her daughter was released. Later, more than ten officers from the Police Station in Shizhong District and the police station on Dongguang Street found someone at the reception office of the Agricultural Bank. They ordered him to tell Ms. Sun Jing that her car was damaged and that she needed to go look at it. When her father opened the door, the police swarmed into their home and took Ms. Sun away. They also confiscated a desktop computer, a laptop computer, a printer, three cell phones, and other items.
The police have said publicly that they had the right to arrest Falun Gong practitioners and do whatever they pleased without the need to consider legal procedures. With the excuse of "protecting the Olympics," they offered rewards of over 10,000 yuan to those who reported on Falun Gong practitioners. Coordinated raids on the homes of practitioners, such as the one conducted on the evening of July 16 in the Shizhong District of Jinan City, have taken place all too frequently.
