Despite the heavy rain, practitioners unfurled banners reading "Falun Gong is Good," "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong in China," and "Condemn the CCP's Escalation of the Persecution of Falun Gong before the Olympics." Ms. Wang read a report from the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong. She said, "From last December to June 30th this year, 8,037 Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested across China. The number of confirmed and documented death cases continues to increase. Tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners are still illegally incarcerated in prisons, tortured in forced labor camps, concentration camps or mental hospitals."
She added, "Not only has the persecution of Falun Gong escalated, but the suppression of all manner of protesters and civil rights defenders has also intensified. The escalating persecution of China's people in the name of 'preparing for the Olympics' has become the most serious human rights disaster in history."
"On July 10th, 2008, the Beijing Committee for Comprehensive Management of Public Security, and the Beijing Public Security Bureau issued a notice offering a reward of up to 500,000 yuan for tips about so-called 'Olympic security,' but the only organization listed was Falun Gong."
Zhao Ming, a practitioner who was tortured and imprisoned in China because he practices Falun Gong, said, "On August 3rd, the Falun Gong Information Center publicized sixteen cases regarding the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing and offered an online map for international reporters in Beijing to conduct on-site investigations into these cases in prisons or forced labor camps where practitioners were incarcerated. However, after the information was published, the regime secretly transferred a large number of Falun Gong practitioners to other places. Furthermore, it arranged for the prisoners who have been brainwashed and those who were willing to speak up for the Communist regime to deceive international reporters."
One person said, "All those who really love China should know that the
Chinese regime has spent over 400 billion yuan of the Chinese people's hard
earned money to host the Olympic Games simply to enhance the regime's
reputation. They should help the world's people recognize that the regime has
long been notorious for persecuting human rights. [...] It's clear that the
Chinese regime is not really concerned about the people whatsoever. Those who
have read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party know
that the CCP has killed over 80 million people. What's even worse is that it
harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for profit, and it has
become a huge business. In reality, the Chinese Communist regime is a gang of
murderers. But more people are standing up for civil rights in China these days.
All the crimes the Chinese regime has committed are coming to light, and the
people will pass their own judgment."
