(Clearwisdom.net) There are nearly fifty Falun Dafa practitioners detained in Gansu Province Women's Prison. Under instigation by the local 610 Office, they have been forced to undergo brainwashing. Those who refused to write statements renouncing Falun Gong were attacked and criticized each day. The officials use this method attempting to shake the practitioners' firm wills in cultivation. In addition, the practitioners are left in solitary confinement. Some have been so confined for as long as three months.
Ms. Ma Jun and Ms. Zhang Ping were taken to the prison and detained in the 610 Office section of the prison in December 2006. Ms. Zhang held hunger strikes many times to protest the persecution, and Ms. Ma was put into solitary confinement many times. One of the officials said, "If you are meat, I am the meat grinder."
Ms. Guo Wenying is an employee of the Lanzhou Hotel. On September 28, 2002, police officers from Linxia City came to Lanzhou City and arrested Ms. Guo and her husband. She was charged with distributing Falun Gong fliers in Linxia City, her hometown. The officers beat her husband until he blacked out, then poured cold water on him. Three days later, her husband was released, but she was sentenced to six years of imprisonment.
She was placed in solitary confinement four times, the longest instance lasting three months. One time while in confinement, she was bound to an iron chair with a iron rod around her legs. She was provided with only a bowl of hot water and black Chinese bread for each meal. Even then, some of the bread was frequently taken by the cell mates who were assigned to monitor her. Devastated by the harsh treatment, her spirits suffered. Also, her long-term hunger caused her body to become emaciated. She was examined, and under the advice of physicians, she was released from confinement. It took her a long time to be able to walk normally again. Through all this, she has never wavered in her belief, yet as of now she is still detained in the prison.
On September 24, 2008, she will have been detained for exactly six years. Her husband is bedridden and has not been able to take care of himself for two years. We call on kindhearted people around the world to show concern for this case so that Ms. Guo can return home and reunite with her family.
