(Clearwisdom.net) Husband and wife Zhang Xingguo and Zhang Shuqing are Falun Dafa practitioners who live in Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province. For many years now, they have been forced into homelessness in order to avoid persecution by the Chinese Communist Party.
On June 1, 2008, six police officers from Suihua Police Station closely followed Mr. Zhang's daughter and monitored calls made to her cell phone. The officers along with 30 other officers from Daxinganling Police Station broke into Mr. Zhang's relative's home and arrested his wife and their daughter, Zhang Chunhui. However, Mr. Zhang managed to escape the illegal arrest.
On June 6, Mr. Zhang Xingguo and another practitioner, Xiong Hongwei, were arrested by 610 Office personnel from Beilin District, Suihua City. They are now detained at the Suihua Detention Center where they have been cruelly tortured and are in critical condition.
Family members of both practitioners went to the detention center to request their release. The guards, however, did not allow them to visit the practitioners. Wang Zhijie, from the Suihua Public Security Bureau, in charge of persecuting practitioners, stated that he wanted to kill Mr. Zhang. Recently, Wang Zhijie was diagnosed with cancer, which many believe to be karmic retribution for his crimes against innocent people.
Mr. Zhang Xingguo, 50, was a driver for Suihua Pharmaceutical Testing Center. Eleven years ago, he was diagnosed with late-stage cancer and had spent a lot of money to find a cure. One time, he took his medical bills to his company to ask for reimbursement, but was told that they did not have sufficient funds to reimburse him. Feeling hopeless and desperate, he tried to come up with a plan to try to scam his company to get his reimbursement. Fortunately, before he proceeded with his plan, he learned about Falun Dafa. Shortly after he began the practice, he became healthier and his cancer disappeared. Later, his manager wanted to reimburse his medical bills, but Mr. Zhang said, "Ever since I started practicing Falun Gong, the cancer went away and I no longer need to take any medication. I don't want the reimbursement." Falun Dafa not only gave him a second chance in life, but also taught him to always put others first and to conduct himself according the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion- Forbearance.
After the Chinese Communist Party began its persecution of Falun Dafa, Mr. Zhang has been targeted by the police many times because he tells people about his positive experiences with the practice. Once when he was detained, he went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. As a result, the guards pulled his hair, slammed his head against the wall and then brutally forced-fed him. Mr. Zhang's mouth bled profusely and he lost a lot of hair. As for Ms. Zhang Shuqing, she was arrested for distributing fliers about Falun Gong and the persecution. She was then imprisoned for two years at the Shuanghe "Re-education" Camp in Qi City. She was forced to attend brainwashing sessions during her detention. After both husband and wife were released, they became homeless to avoid further harassment or arrest.
In January 2007, Mr. Zhang's daughter, Zhang Chunhui, went to his former workplace to pick up his paycheck. The managers at the company plotted with the personnel from the Beilin district 610 Office to have her arrested and detained at the Public Security Bureau. There, the police threatened, coerced, and exerted mental pressure on her to try to force her to reveal the whereabouts of her parents, but to no avail.
When Mr. Zhang's daughter was arrested for the first time, his 80-year-old mother loss consciousness and knocked out two of her teeth. This time, when Mr. Zhang, his wife and daughter were detained again, his elderly mother could not bear the persecution any longer. She collapsed and passed away.
