(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 41 cities or counties in 15 provinces. In this report 54 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 67 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhang Yuke Disabled by Torture
Mr. Zhang Yuke, in his 60s, is from Huaide Town, Gongzhuling City. He was put in the city detention center in March 2008 and so brutally tortured that his left hand became disabled. Mr. Zhang staged a 20-day hunger strike and was sentenced to four years in prison. He was taken to the Jilin Province Prison, but officials dared not hold him due to his poor health. Several days later, however, police had him forcibly admitted. Criminals force-fed him three times around May 26, 2008. Mr. Zhang is being held in the No. 11 Ward,
Mr. Zhang's wife has been sentenced to three years in prison. Their son has myelitis and cannot take care of himself.
2. [Sichuan Province] Ms. Xia Huijing in the Pi County Detention Center
Ms. Xia Huijing from Chongqing lives in the Huangzhong Community in Chengdu City. She was held at the Chadianzi Police Station for explaining the facts about Falun Gong on the morning of June 27, 2008, and was then transferred to the Pi County Detention Center. Police told her family that she would be held for 15 days.
3. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Luo Meng Has Been Held for a Month
Mr. Luo Meng from Xinglong Town, Guanghan City, and an older practitioner from Pengzhou City were arrested on May 20, 2008, for explaining the Falun Gong facts. Mr. Luo is being held in the Guanghan City Detention Center. The other practitioner has been released after being fined.
4. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Two Practitioners Arrested
Mr. Zhang Zhiping and Mr. Jiang were arrested on July 2, 2008. Police ransacked Mr. Xie Wenjun's home and confiscated a picture of Master on the night of July 2, 2008. Mr. Xie's home is under surveillance.
5. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Police Arrested 81-Year-Old Ms. Zhang Genlanon the Night of July 4, 2008
6. [Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Lai Xiaoyun Arrested
Mr. Lai Xiaoyun is from Heshan City in the Jiangmen Area. Personnel from the Heshan City Police Department, from the 610 Office, and from the Domestic Security Division arrested him from his home on June 30, 2008. He is still being held in a local detention center. His family's visits were denied.
Mr. Lai had been sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in 2001. The police have harassed him ever since.
7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Supplemental Information on the Persecution of Mr. Peng Weisheng and His Son, Peng Liang
Six officers from the local police station and from the Wuchang District 610 Office arrested Mr. Peng Weisheng and his son, Mr. Peng Liang. The arrest happened two days prior to the Olympic Torch Relay arriving in Wuhan City. Police ransacked the home and confiscated some items including a computer. The father and son are being held in Hewan Forced Labor Camp in Wuhan City for a one-year prison term.
8. [Xiangfan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Ying Arrested When She Visited Ms. Ding Ping in a Detention Center
9. [Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhong Yanhong Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor
Ms. Zhong Yanhong was arrested on March 9, 2008, and taken to the Nanhai District Detention Center in Foshan City in April 2008. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor in May 2008.
Ms. Zhong has been uncooperative, so the guards prevented her from using the restroom. She is very weak now.

10. [Changde City, Hunan Province] Police Raid Practitioners' Homes
Police from Changde City arrested practitioners and ransacked their houses, claiming it was necessary for "security for the Olympic Games."
Mr. Xiong Laming and Ms. Zhong Sufen were arrested in early June 2008. Personnel from the city's Political and Judiciary Committee and from the 610 Office arrested Ms. Ye Shunqing, Mr. Yang Jianping, Ms. Wan Qiaoyun, Mr. Feng Zhengjun, Ms. Liu Xiuying, and Ms. Liu Fengxian at 10:00 p.m. on June 19, 2008. They ransacked their homes and confiscated a computer from Ms. Liu Xiuying's home. Ms. Ye and Mr. Yang are being held in a detention center, and Ms. Wan and Mr. Feng are being held in a custody center.
11. [Leiyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wu Donghua Arrested on May 20, 2008, and Is Being Held in the City's Detention Center
12. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Police Arrest Several Practitioners
Personnel from the Railway Police Station in Huaihua City broke into Ms. Yan's home and arrested Ms. Yan; her sister, Ms. Huang; Dr. Dai; Ms. Gan Yufang; and Ms. Zhong Lianchun on June 25, 2008. The police then arrested Ms. Huang's son, Mr. Li Niannian, and his colleague, Mr. Fan Jianwei, in the afternoon. All practitioners are being held in the city's Railway Detention Center.

19. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Mr. Shen Bing, Mr. He Youhua, and Ms. Yuan Xiuhua from Jintang County, Chengdu City, were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong on July 6, 2008, and were arrested.
20. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Dongliang Arrested
Personnel from the Lingxi Police Station in Gongzhuling City arrested Mr. Liu Dongliang on the night of April 25, 2008. They confiscated a computer and a printer. Mr. Liu's wife and daughter requested his release, but the police refused and denied their visits.
21. [Bin County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Qu Mingzhu Arrested
Personnel from the Chang'an Township Police Station arrested Ms. Qu Mingzhu from Guang'en Township from her workplace on the afternoon of July 3, 2008. They ransacked her home and confiscated some Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Ms. Qu is being held in the county's detention center.

22. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] The Evildoings of Personnel from the Songlin Town Police Station
Eight officers from the Songlin Town Police Station headed by Li Jianmin divided into two groups and ransacked Mr. Sun Yunsheng and Mr. Zhang Yingyuan's homes on June 19, 2008. They confiscated some Dafa books including a copy of Zhuan Falun and a brand new computer. The police put them in the town police station. Mr. Sun explained the facts about Falun Gong to the officers, but they beat him. The two practitioners are being held in the Linqing City Detention Center.
23. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Personnel from the Linqing City 610 Office Arrested Ms. Cai Xiuzhi and Put Her in the Jinan City Forced Labor Camp
24. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chen Jie's Home Ransacked
Four policemen from the Lianmeng Community including Wang Yugang broke into Ms. Chen Jie's home and ransacked it at 6:30 a.m. on July 4, 2008. They confiscated some of Master's articles and a picture of Master.
25. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Personnel from the Changningdao Police Station Arrested Mr. Luo Zhijianon the Morning of July 6, 2008
26. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Police arrested Ms. Li Huixin, Mr. Shen Manliang, and Ms. Liu Yanhong and ransacked their homes on the morning of July 4, 2008. They pried open the doors to Ms. Li and Ms. Liu's homes.

27. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Zu Yu Held in the County Detention Center
Mamuchi Township Police Station chief and personnel from the Yinan County 610 Office arrested Mr. Zu Yu and ransacked his home on June 27, 2008. He is being held in the county detention center.
28. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Hongmei and Ms. Yu Jie Arrested
Personnel from the Sifang Police Station arrested Ms. Hongmei at 8:00 a.m. on July 4, 2008, as soon as she got to work at a refinery. Ms. Yu Jie went to the police station and requested Ms. Hongmei's release, but the police arrested her and ransacked her home.
29. [Wuji County, Hebei Province] Ms. Hu Wenlian Sentenced to One and a Half Years of Forced Labor
Four police officers from the Shijingshan District in Beijing and three policemen from Wuji County arrested Ms. Hu Wenlian from her job at 3:00 p.m. on June 16, 2008. They ransacked her home. Ms. Hu has been sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in the Shijiazhuang City Women's Forced Labor Camp.
30. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Lu Tong Arrested and Home Ransacked
Personnel from the Caixiang Police Station arrested Mr. Lu Tong on July 4, 2008. They searched him, got the key to his home, and then ransacked it at 2:00 p.m. They confiscated two desktop computers, two removable hard drives, two printers, several boxes of blank CDs, and all Dafa books and truth-clarifying materials. Mr. Lu is being held in the Suzhou City No. 1 Detention Center.
Mr. Lu had been sentenced to forced labor on September 9, 2005, and persecuted in Dafeng City, Jiangsu Province, for a year.
31. [Chongqing] Ms. Fang Min Arrested
Ms. Fang Min is a retired employee from the Chongqing Steel Company in Sanjiang Town, Qijiang County, Chongqing. Personnel from the town police station arrested her from her home and ransacked the place at 3:00 p.m. on July 4, 2008. Ms. Fang is being held in the county.
Ms. Fang had been arrested and sentenced to forced labor several times.
32. [Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province] Police Arrest Ms. Zhang Hejun
Ms. Zhang Hejun from Zhuzhou City lived away from home and worked as a nanny. Police from Zhuzhou City arrested her from Hengyang City on the night of April 11, 2008.
33. [Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Personnel from the Fushun City Police Department and from the Hongtoushan Police Station in Qingyuan County arrested Mr. Sui Lisen, Mr. Zhang Huamei, and Mr. Zhang Hongtao from their homes at 11:00 p.m. on June 28, 2008.
34. [Mancheng County, Hebei Province] Ms. He Qiuqin Arrested
Personnel from the Mancheng County Police Department's Domestic Security Division including Liu Guishuan arrested Ms. He Qiuqin from her home and ransacked the place on June 18, 2008. They confiscated a tape recorder, several tapes, and Dafa books. Ms. He is being held in the county detention center.
35. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Police Harass Two Practitioners
Personnel from the Qiaodong Police Station and from the Jian'an Street Police Precinct harassed Ms. Han Junhong at her home on July 4, 2008. Ms. Han escaped, and her home is under surveillance.
Police arrested Ms. Meng Shufen, an employee from the Cotton Spinning No. 2 Factory in Shijiazhuang City, and ransacked her home on July 4, 2008.
36. [Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. He Guangdong Went Missing
Mr. He Guangdong and his brother, Mr. He Guangxi, worked in Suzhou City and clarified the facts. Police arrested Mr. He Guangxi and put him in the city's No. 1 Detention Center on April 28, 2008. There has been no information about Mr. He Guangdong for two months now.

Officials from the Domestic Security Division at the Shuncheng Police Department in Fushun City arrested 56-year-old Ms. Lu Hanmei at around June 30, 2008. The officials ransacked her home and took Falun Gong books and materials, as well as a satellite receiver and some other private belongings.
43. [Jingzhou City, Hubei Province] Several Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested
More than 30 local police officers arrested Ms. Deng Tianyu, Ms. Wu Cuilan, and Mr. Feng Feng from Shashi District, Jingzhou City, on the afternoon of July 5, 2008. They ransacked Feng Feng's home and took his computer(s), printer(s), DVD burner(s), DVD player(s), and Falun Gong materials. The practitioners' current whereabouts are unknown.
44. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Lu Hugang and Mr. Yang Miao Arrested
Four officers from Taoyuan Police Station in Qiaodong, Shijiazhuang City, broke into the home of practitioner Mr. Lu Hugang, an employee of Shijiazhuang Steel Factory, at 9 a.m. on July 4, 2008. They ransacked the home and arrested Lu Hugang.
Mr. Yang Miao from Xigucheng, Shijiazhuang City was arrested that same day.
45. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Mr. Wang Xinguo and Mr. Zhu Xianyong Have Left Home to Avoid Arrest
Three practitioners, Mr. Zhang Qiyuan, Ms. Ye Zhengwang, Mr. Li Changmao from Songbu Town, and Qiting returned home on July 4, 2008.
Mr. Wang Xinguo and Mr. Zhu Xianyong have left home to avoid further persecution.
46. [Wuji County, Hebei Province] The Arrest of Ms. Wang Minxue
The police broke into Ms. Wang Minxue's home at 9:00 p.m. on July 5, 2008, and arrested her.
47. [Hebei Province] The Arrest of Ms. Luo Zhijian
The police arrested Ms. Luo Zhijian. She works at Tangshan Steel & Iron Design and Research Institute.
48. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Yang Hujiang and His Daughter, Yang Shunxiu, Arrested
The police arrested Mr. Yang Hujiang and his daughter, Yang Shunxiu, from their home in Group 3, Dashiqiao Village, Nanqiang Town, Suining City, on July 5, 2008. They ransacked the home, and the pairs' whereabouts are unknown.
The police broke into Ms. Yang Sizhen's home at 1:00 p.m. on July 6, 2008, and tried to arrest her, but she left safely. The police then ransacked the home.
49. [Xinglong County, Hebei Province] Ms. Shi Yaqin Has Left Home to Avoid Arrest
Five officers from the Xinglong County Police Department including Ju Yantong broke into the home of Ms. Shi Yaqin in Nantumen Township in Xinglong County on the morning of June 11, 2008. They tried to arrest her but she was not home, so they arrested her son instead, although he does not practice Falun Gong. They also took her TV set, VCD player, copying machine, satellite receiver, and Falun Gong books and materials worth about 20,000 yuan. Ms. Shi has now left home. Her husband, who was working in another city, had to return home to clean up the mess.
Five officers from Xinglong County Domestic Security Division broke into the home of a practitioner on the afternoon of June 12, 2008, when no one was home. They took the practitioner's MP3 player, one set of exercise cassettes, and a copy of Zhuan Falun.
50. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chen Yongmei Arrested
Li Anbo, deputy head of Saertu District Police Department in Daqing City, and seven police officers arrested Ms. Chen Yongmei, a 40-year-old piano teacher, from her home in Yigeng Neighborhood District, Dongfeng Village, Daqing City. They also took her computer. She is currently in the Saertu District Custody Center.
51. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Sufang Arrested
Six police officers ransacked the home of Ms. Zhang Sufang from the Shanxi Province Military Region at 3:00 p.m. on July 4, 2008. They took all of her Falun Gong materials and interrogated her until 7:00 p.m. They then handcuffed her and took her to Xinghualing Police Department to continue to press her for the source of Falun Gong materials. At 4:00 a.m. the next day the police took her home and ransacked her place again before taking her back to the police department and interrogating her further. They also built a "case" around this arrest.
52. [Beijing] Practitioner Tian Arrested
The police arrested practitioner Tian from Tongzhou City at the end of June 2008.
53. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Luo Zhijian Detained
The police arrested Mr. Luo Zhijian on the afternoon of July 6, 2008, and took him to the No. 1 Detention Center in Tangshan City.
54. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Xiaojun Arrested and His Home Ransacked
Forty-four-year-old Mr. Wang Xiaojun lived in the Hulan District, Harbin City. Two plainclothes police officers went to his home at 3:00 p.m. on July 4, 2008, posing as residence permit inspectors. When they saw Wang Xiaojun was at home they called Xinmin Police Station officials, who dispatched several police officers to arrest Mr. Wang and ransack his home.
55. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
The police arrested numerous practitioners in Fuyang City around July 3, including Ms. Zhang Mingxiu from Lizhuang, Tanpeng, Linquan County; Mr. Li Chengpo from Dalizhuang, Jiulong Town; and a practitioner's non-practitioner husband from Xiaoliuzhuang, Jiulong Town. The practitioner herself has gone into exile.
56. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Gu Mengcun's Home Ransacked
Shijiazhuang City officials launched a fanatic arrest campaign targeting Falun Gong practitioners early in morning on July 4, 2008. A group of officers from the Yuejin Police Station in the Changan District ransacked Ms. Gu Mengcun's home at 6:00 a.m. They arrested her and took her computer, printer, and Falun Gong books. She later broke free.
57. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Update on Arrested Practitioners
Officers from Qianjin Police Station in Mudanjiang City arrested Ms. Zhao and Ms. Zheng on July 1, 2008. They released Ms. Zhao later that same day after extorting 5,000 yuan from her. They took Ms. Zheng to a detention center, where she is being held now.
They also arrested five other practitioners from Mudanjiang City on July 3, including Ms. Zhao Yunyan, Ms. Zhang Cuizhi, and Ms. Jia, who were each had 5,000 yuan extorted from them before they were released. Ms. Liu Baoying and Ms. Wang Shuhua refused to comply with the extortion and were taken to a detention center.
58. [Jinchang City, Gansu Province] Ms. Zhang Shumei Arrested
Domestic Security officers from Yongchang County, Jinchang City, searched for practitioners throughout the city on July 3, 2008, and ransacked their homes.
Four officers arrested Ms. Zhang Shumei in front of her apartment at 4:20 p.m. on July 3, 2008, and ransacked her home. She is being held in Yongchang Detention Center.
59. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Zhigang Arrested in Feicheng City
Huaiyin District 610 Office agents and Feicheng City police officers from Jinan City arrested Ms. Zhang Zhigang, a Jinan native, on April 1, 2008. It happened as she told people about Falun Gong in her hometown--Gong Village in Zhangjiacheng, Wenyang, Feicheng City. They also threatened her relatives she was visiting and took the Falun Gong materials she had brought them. They took her to the Feicheng City Detention Center and issued an arrest warrant 37 days, later on May 9, 2008.
60. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] The Police Harass Practitioners
A group of officials from the Comprehensive Administration Division at the Damasen Township government in Hengshui City harassed Ms. Hou Guorui at her home in Liuhouma Village on the evening of July 2, 2008. They confiscated two satellite antennas.
They also ransacked the home of Ms. Li Guirong and her husband, Mr. Fan, on July 3, 2008, and extorted more than 15,000 yuan from the couple. Li Guirong has returned home, but Mr. Fan is still in the Hengshui City Detention Center.
61. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yao Haixia Arrested at Home
The police arrested Ms. Yao Haixia from the Shifu District in Shijiazhuang City at 4:00 p.m. on July 4, 2008.
They also held Ms. Li Huixin, Mr. Shen Manliang, and Ms. Liu Yanhong at the Shijiazhuang Administrative Detention Center.
62. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
The police arrested Mr. Zhang Fengzhou; his wife, Ms. Xu Shuyun; and their son, Zhang Wenguang, from Ziran Village, Nonghe Town, Tonghe County, Harbin City, at 9:00 p.m. on June 23, 2008. Their other son, Zhang Wenli, was able to avoid arrest. The police took three computers, two printers, Falun Gong books, their mobiles phones, and cash from their home, among other things. The practitioners are now in Tonghe Detention Center.
63. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Numerous Practitioners Arrested
Officials from the Yingcheng City Police Department's Domestic Security Division, from the 610 Office, from the Dongmafang Police Station, and from Xiaogan Police Station went to the homes of eight practitioners. It was between 7:00 a.m. and 10 a.m. on July 2, 2008, in an attempt to arrest them. They took two computers, two printers, and other personel belongings and arrested nine practitioners. Two practitioners left safely, and five practitioners are currently in the No. 2 Detention Center in Yingcheng City. The practitioners include Mr. Chu Guanyuan, Mr. Yan Sanming, Mr. Xiang Hongxing, Mr. Chu Sichun, and Mr. Xiong Jiwei. The police also arrested Ms. Zhang Jingyu and Mr. Xiong Wende and held them at an undisclosed location.

64. [Tianjin] Ms. Liu Guiying Arrested
The police arrested Ms. Liu Guiying from Dazhongzhuang Town, Baodi District, Tianjin, on June 26, 2008, and ransacked her home.
65. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Several Practitioners Still Detained
The police arrested practitioner Ms. Li Yanqun and her non-practitioner husband, Mr. Wang, in early June 2008. They later arrested Ms. Li Mingyan and two other practitioners on June 17, 2008. These practitioners are still in detention.
