(Clearwisdom.net) A high magnitude earthquake took place in Sichuan Province on May 12. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took advantage of this earthquake by blocking news and making use of all media agencies to influence people's emotions in order to improve its image and win people over. Every disaster is used by the CCP to enhance its image and poison some sentient beings even more.
Master said,
"Master wants to save all sentient beings. But the evil forces are truly committing sins against Dafa by using all sentient beings, with the ultimate purpose of destroying them." ("Dafa is Indestructible" from Essentials for Further Advancement II)
The CCP will stop at nothing to have people support it, and ultimately perish along with it. It's often clear to practitioners that the old forces arranged for all of the disasters and the accompanying loss of human life. However, we may not be clear that things like prophecies that talk about these catastrophes were also arranged by the old forces. If we don't recognize that, we run the risk of accepting them and helping those catastrophes happen.
We, as practitioners, should not be overly attached to prophecies in general, including the ones that talk about when the persecution is to end, how the CCP will collapse, what would happen after that, etc. Invoking prophecies has sometimes been a useful tool for us as we clarify the truth, but we need to be careful about falling into the trap of believing in them too much and overly relying upon them.

"As I've said, everything that happens today in the ordinary society is the result of Dafa disciples' thoughts. Even though the old forces do exist, if you don't have those thoughts they can't do anything. When your righteous thoughts are strong enough the old forces can't do a thing. If someone in ordinary society really did restore our Dafa's name, think about it, maybe human beings will do this, but have you thought about this: how high would I have to position that person? Isn't that right? You're cultivators, and all changes come from your cultivation and the Fa-rectification; everything that you yourselves validate and enlighten to, and everything that you'll receive, all this comes from what you have done on your path. Absolutely don't think about any favors the old forces might do for us, or about how the ordinary society might help us. You are the ones saving the ordinary people's society, and you are the ones saving sentient beings!" (Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Philadelphia, U.S.A)
Thinking about the earthquake made me more clear-headed about absolutely denying the old forces' attempts to destroy sentient beings. I have become more aware of negating every arrangement of the old forces, including prophecies.
