(Clearwisdom.net) Todays' News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities and counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 27 practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during their detention and at least 36 practitioners were "illegally arrested."
1. [Yima City, Henan Province] Mr. Yao Genshang on a Hunger Strike to Protest the Persecution
At the end of August 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yao Genshang was forcibly arrested at the coal mine in Geng Village, Yima City. His home was searched and the police took away one computer, one printer, one satellite receiver, etc. Currently, he is being detained in the Yima City Detention Center.
2. [Xinmin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhao Shouzhu Injected with Unknown Drugs and on the Verge of Death
On the night of March 31, 2008, Mr. Zhao Shouzhu was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials. He has been detained in the Xinmin Detention Center. Mr. Zhao went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The Xinmin Police Department colluded with the Xinmin City Hospital and injected him with unknown drugs. They also brutally forced fed him. Now Mr. Zhao is on the verge of death.
3. [Sichuan Province] Dazhu County Arrested Falun Gong Practitioners "for the Olympic Games"
On April 1, 2008, the 610 Office and the national security team of Dazhu County, as well as the local police stations, searched the homes of practitioners and arrested time in "preparation" for "the Olympic Games." They took away Dafa books and truth-clarifying materials. The arrested practitioners include Ms. Ma Chaoqiong, Mr. Zhou Mingtian, Ms. Zhang Xianzhen and her husband (a non-practitioner), Ms. Huang Chuanyu from Zhuyang Town, Ms. Zhang Hongmei and her husband (a non-practitioner) and their six year old son from Chengbei, Ms. Qiu Ping, and five practitioners from Yangjia. Ms. Zhang Hongmei's husband and son were released after being detained for one day. Others are being detained in the Dazhu County Detention Center.

4. [Wuji County, Hebei Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
On April 3, 2008, Yang Lumin, head of the Chengguan 610 Office in Wuji County, led people to search the home of Mr. Si Menggang and take away 4800 yuan in cash from his home. They also arrested several practitioners. Two of them walked away. The evil persons even arrested their family members who do not practice Falun Gong.
Mr. Yang Shunfa and his wife, Ms. Yuehua; Mr. Si Menggang; and the sons of the two practitioners who walked away are being detained in the Wuji County Detention Center.
5. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhu Wei, Ms. Zhou Xiumei and Ms. Liu Jinfeng Arrested in April 2008 and Now on a Hunger Strike to Protest the Persecution
6. [Baicheng City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Xiaoyong Arrested
On January 9, 2008, Mr. Liu Xiaoyong was arrested by police at a market. The police searched his home and took away a computer and a printer. Now he is being detained in the Baicheng City Detention Center. His family is not allowed to visit him.
7. [Mancheng County, Hebei Province] Practitioners Including Mr. Wei Haihe Sent to Forced Labor Camps
In April 2008, Mr. Wei Haihe from Mancheng County was taken to Baoding Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Yin Baoyin and Mr. Wang Haixu were taken to a forced labor camp in Shijiazhuang City. Mr. Wei's daughter and Mr. Wang Haixu's mother are being detained in the Mancheng County Detention Center.
8. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Lin Xiulian and Six Other Practitioners Sentenced
In April 2008, the Chicheng County Court sentenced seven practitioners from Chicheng County who have already been detained for one year: Ms. Chen Haiyan and Ms. Lin Xiulian, five years each; Ms. Wang Yufeng, Ms. Wang Yuzhen, Mr. Zhao Bingheng, four years each; Mr. Wang Yuhai, three years; Mr. Guo Xiuling, three years, suspended for four years.
9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhao Fenglan and Another Practitioner from the Huazhong Agricultural University Arrested
On April 3, police from the Shizishan Police Station arrested Ms. Zhao Fenglan and another practitioner with the surname of Chen from Huazhong Agricultural University. The two were clarifying the truth.
10. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Xie Hong Persecuted in a Brainwashing Center
In the morning on March 4, 2008, Ms. Xie Hong was arrested as she was carrying a bag filled with copies of the Nine Commentaries. Ms. Xie was taken to the brainwashing center at the Xinyu Hotel in Hefei City.
Ms. Xie, 35 years old, is an employee of the Sipailou Section of the Luyang Branch of China Construction Bank in Hefei City. Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, she has been arrested repeatedly. When her child was one year old, her husband divorced her because he could not bear the pressure of the persecution. Earlier, Ms. Xie's mother was sent to a forced labor camp because she clarified the truth about Falun Gong.
11. [Qionglai City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Yuan Yongwen Arrested
On March 26, 2008, practitioner Mr. Yuan Yongwen from Qionglai City, in his 60s, was arrested in a farmers market by police from the Criminal Police Team and the National Security Team of Qionglai City Police Department. The police also searched his home and took away a fax machine, an MP3 player, and Dafa books, etc. The police also arrested his daughter, who was home on a visit, and interrogated them both for a confession. Now Mr. Yuan is being detained in the Qionglai City Detention Center.
12. [Tianjin City] Additional Information about the Arrested Practitioners
On February 28, 2008, the Tanggu District Police Department and the local police stations arrested many practitioners from Tanggu District, Tianjin City, including Mr. Bai Hong, Ms. Song Hongcui, Mr. Qi Changrong, and Ms. Xu Guomin. These practitioners have been detained in the Zhaojiadi Detention Center in Tanggu District for over a month. Now the police are planning to sentence Mr. Bai Hong and Ms. Song Hongcui.
13. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Mr. Gui Lixin and Two Other Practitioners Sentenced
In April 2008, the Xisaishan District Court of Huangshi City sentenced Mr. Gui Lixin to three years of imprisonment, Mr. Chen Jun and Ms. Fei Jingfang to seven years.
14. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners from Huanglou Town Arrested
In March 2008, police from the Qingzhou City 610 Office arrested several practitioners from Huanglou Town, including Ms. Liu Yuxi, Ms. Ji Xiaohua, Ms. Gong Jiankui, Mr. Meng Qingliang's wife, and Ms. Zhang. They are being detained in Qingzhou Detention Center.
15. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Riqing and Ms. Wang Xiulan Arrested
At around 8 a.m. on April 5, 2008, Ms. Wang Riqing and Ms. Wang Xiulan from Jinzhou District, Dalian City, were arrested by police from the Maoyingzi Police Station while the two women were distributing truth-clarifying materials in Maoyingzi Village, Dalianwan Town, Ganjingzi District, Dalian City.
16. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Guifang and Ms. Sun Changlan Sent to a Brainwashing Center
On March 19, 2008, Li Shengtang, Head of the Xiadian Town 610 Office in Zhaoyuan City, and others took practitioner Ms. Zhao Guifang from her home and took her to the Lingnan Gold Ore Brainwashing Center.
On March 28, 2008, Xiaodian Town 610 Office and the town government personnel took practitioner Ms. Sun Changlan from Xincun Village to the Lingnan Gold Ore Brainwashing Center.
17. [Beijing City] Practitioner Mr. Huang Enzhi Arrested
18. [Dongliao County, Jilin Province] Facts about the Persecution of Gu Junqing and Her Husband
In summer 2006, Li Jing, head of the Political Security Section of Dongliao County Police Department, and two policemen searched the home of practitioners Ms. Gu Junqing and her husband, Mr. Ai Lihua, in Anshu Town. Ms. Gu was arrested and detained in a forced labor camp for one year.
At around midnight in November 2007, Li Jing rushed into the couple's home again and took Ms. Gu and Mr. Ai to the Liaoyuan City Detention Center. Ms. Gu was sentenced to one year and three months of forced labor; Ai Lihua, one year of forced labor. Because Ms. Gu's physical condition did not meet the requirements, she was released. Mr. Ai was taken to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province.
On March 31, 2008, Anshu police of Dongliao County rushed into the home of Ms. Gu Junqing, harassed her, and forced her to sign a document.
19. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Shujun Arrested
At 10 a.m. on April 2, 2008, plainclothes policemen from the Daheishi Police Station in Dalian City took away Dalian practitioner Ms. Li Shujun while she was posting truth-clarifying materials in Daheishi. On that day, the police went to search Ms. Li's home and took away Master's pictures and all Dafa books. She is being detained in the Yaojia Detention Center.
20. [Liling County, Hunan Province] Ms. Chen Yueying and Ms. Deng Zihua Arrested
In the beginning of April 2008, the National Security Team of Liling County Police Department arrested Ms. Chen Yueying and Ms. Deng Zihua from Liling County.
Since March 2008, local police stations and neighborhood committees in Liling County often go to the homes of Falun Gong practitioners using "the Olympic Games" as an excuse. They harass practitioners, search their homes, and try to force them to give up cultivation and promise no to appeal, etc.
21. [Chongqing City] Ms. Zhang Xiaomei Arrested
On the morning of April 5, 2008, practitioner Ms. Zhang Xiaomei from Yubei District was arrested by police while she was distributing truth-clarifying materials at the big farmers' market in Yubei District.
22. [Chongqing City] On March 23, 2008, Ms. Yang Zhaoshu Was Arrested While She Was Shopping at a Supermarket Using Bills with Truth-Clarifying Words on Them
23. [Dongkou County, Hunan Province] Ms. Yang Xiufeng Arrested
Ms. Yang Xiufeng, in her 50s, is a practitioner in Gaosha Town, Dongkou County, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province. On around March 26, 2008, she was secretly arrested and detained in the Dongkou Detention Center.
24. [Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Xiufeng Harassed
At 7 p.m. on March 24, 2008, police from the Developing District Police Station of Fangzheng County broke into the home of practitioner Ms. Zhang Xiufeng. They illegally made videotapes and searched the home. They took Ms. Zhang to the police station and forced her to sign the written record of their search and a blank paper.
25. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] On March 26, Mr. Li Jingfang, Mr. Li Zhanguang, and Mr. Liu Jincheng Arrested and Taken to the Fifth Division of Panjin Prison.
26. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Shuqin Arrested
Ms. Zhao Shuqin lives in Hanzhuang Village, Haigang Town, Haigang District, Qinhuangdao City. At 3 p.m. on April 3, 2008, she was reported to police while she was clarifying the truth in Xiaogaozhuang Village. Later on, four policemen from the Haigang Town Police Station took her away, searched her home, and confiscated Dafa books and her personal property. Now Ms. Zhao is being detained in the Qinhuangdao City Second Detention Center.
27. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Shufang Arrested
On about April 3, 2008, Ms. Wang Shufang from Miyun County, Beijing, was followed and taken away by plainclothes police while she clarified the truth and distributed truth-clarifying materials on the way to her relatives' home. The police searched her home and her relatives' home and took away one copy of Zhuan Falun.
28. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Chaoshui Practitioner Ms. Zhang Jie's Whereabouts Unknown after Being Arrested
