(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 11 provinces. In this report, 10 practitioners were subjected to brutal treatment during their detention and at least 26 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Beijing] Ms. Xu Na, Wife of Deceased Mr. Yu Zhou, Placed under Arrest
The family of Mr. Yu Zhou's wife, Ms. Xu Na, received notice a few days ago that Ms. Xu had been officially placed under arrest on charges of "participating in illegal organizations" and "sabotaging the implementation of law." The "public prosecution" was to be held in two weeks. However, her family has been not allowed to attend. Ms. Xu Na is being "illegally detained" in the Gedouzhuang Detention Center in Division No. 7 of the Beijing Police Department.
2. [Shanghai] Ms. Chen Jingfang Taken to Forced Labor for the Third Time
Ms. Chen Jingfang, around 50 years old, lives in Room 101 at No. 42 Zijing in No. 4 Village on Moyu Road in Jiading District, Shanghai. She has two children. Ms. Chen was turned in to the authorities when she used paper bills with truth clarification messages written on t hem in a shopping plaza in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province. She was taken into custody at a local detention center. It has been reported that she has been sentenced to one year of forced labor by the local police. This is the third time Ms. Chen Jingfang has been sentenced to forced labor for upholding her belief. She was sentenced the first time in 2001 to a two-year term. The second time, her sentence was one year.
3. [Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xia Ning on Hunger Strike in Detention Center
Ms. Xia Ning and Ms. Li Qin were taken into custody on March 12, 2008, for clarifying the truth. They are being held at the Xingcheng City Detention Center. It has been reported that Ms. Xia Ning has been on hunger strike for 14 days since she was taken into custody. The situation of Ms. Li Qin is unknown.
4. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Yuxia Taken into Custody
At around 12:00 a.m. on March 27, 2007, Ms. Wu Yuxia, who lives in the Shimenzhai area in Funing County, Qinghuangdao City, Hebei Province, clarified the truth while waiting to deposit her paycheck. She was turned in to the police and taken into custody by officers of the Shimenzhai Police Station. Ms. Wu is being held at the Funing County Detention Center.
5. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information on Ms. Hu Aiyun
On March 24, 2008, Ms. Hu Aiyun's family went to visit her while she was on a hunger strike. She was carried to the meeting room on someone's back.

6. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yan Chunping and Ms. Zhang Yufeng Taken into Custody
Recently Ms. Yan Chunping and Ms. Zhang Yufeng were taken into custody while clarifying the truth at a farm market. They are being held in a brainwashing center in the Guolou area in Liaocheng City.
7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Yuxiang Taken into Custody
At around 6:30 a.m. on March 20, officers of the Changle County 610 Office and the Changle Police Department in Weifang City, in association with officers from the Qiaoguan Town Police Station, broke into Mr. Meng Jianxiang's home in Mengjiachunyu Village in Qiaoguan Town. The officers took Mr. Meng into custody and confiscated a computer used by his child.
The officers then rushed to the Taojia Wood Plank Factory and took into custody Mr. Meng's wife, Ms. Wang Yuxiang (also a practitioner). The police took into custody Mr. Tao Lianfeng, owner of the factory, his wife, and a boiler room worker (all non-practitioners), because they had spoken out for Ms. Wang. The police took them all to the Qiaoguan Town Police Station, where the officers physically punished and then tortured them. Mr. Tao Lianfeng was forced to pay almost 10,000 yuan. Late in the afternoon Ms. Wang Yuxiang was transferred to the Changle County Detention Center. The others have been released.

8. [Li County, Hebei Province] Six Practitioners Taken into Custody
At around March 27, 2008, Wang Tao (male) and other officers from the Chengguan Police Station in Li County, Baoding City. broke into an indoor group Falun Gong practice site in a dining hall. They took into custody six practitioners, three in their 60s or 70s. The three older practitioners were released the same night, and they have returned home.
9. [Chongqing] Several Practitioners Taken into Police Custody
Recently, the Chongqing police have used the upcoming Beijing Olympics as an excuse to launch an all-out campaign to arrest practitioners. Last week, one practitioner in the Qingmuguan area in Beibei District, Chongqing, was taken into custody. The practitioner's whereabouts is unknown. This week, the police took into custody a retired teacher with the last name Wen in the Yudaishan area in Jiangbei District, Chongqing. The teacher's whereabouts is unknown.

12. [Beijing] Beijing Union University Authorities Force Students to Sign Surveys Slandering Falun Gong
Recently, each student in Beijing Union University has been told to fill out a survey containing contents that defame Falun Dafa. Several teachers were assigned to supervise the signing. Students had to sign it one at a time. Anyone who refused to sign the survey was not allowed to attend classes.
13. [Chaohu City, Anhui Province] Ms. Wu Yulan Taken into Custody
Ms. Wu Yulan, around 30 years old, lives in Feidong County, Anhui Province. On March 12, 2008, she was taken into custody by officers of the Zhongmiao Police Station while she was distributing truth clarification materials in Zhongmiao Town, Chaohu City. Ms. Wu is being held at the Domestic Security Division of Chaohu City Police Department.

14. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Chenggui's Wife and Daughter Taken into Custody for Demanding Mr. Liu's Release
Mr. Liu Chenggui lives in Niuwangmiao Village, Mamuchi Township. On March 4, 2008, six officers and members of the Yinan County Police Department 610 Office arrived at Mr. Liu's home. Nobody was home. The police assigned people to stake out his home. On March 11, the police took Mr. Liu, who was working on odd jobs in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, to the Yinan Detention Center. On March 12, the director of the Mamuchi Township Police Station and eight others, including Zhang Shengquan (male), Party Secretary of Niuwangmiao Village, and village official Li Wei (male) to Mr. Liu Chenggui's home. They pried open the door and confiscated Falun Dafa books, a satellite TV antenna, a DVD player, and other items. The police forced Mr. Liu's father to sign the list of confiscated items. The police have replaced all the doors that they destroyed during the unlawful search.
On March 25, 2008, Mr. Liu's daughter went to the Yinan County Detention Center to demand his release. Officials at the detention center told her to talk to the police department. She went to the Yinan County Police Department but to no avail. On March 26, she went to the police department again, but she could not find anyone in charge of the case. She went to the detention center and was not allowed to see her father.
On March 27, Mr. Liu Chenggui's daughter, wife, and a relative went to the county police department to ask for his release. Mr. Liu's relatives were denied admission for failing to provide their names. Mr. Liu's wife and daughter tried to clarify the truth to the police. They did not come out of the police department. After noon, when the relative went to find the mother and the daughter, a young man told them that they had been taken away in a police vehicle.

15. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Two Practitioners Taken into Custody by Tiandian Town Police Station
At noon on March 25, 2008, two practitioners were turned in to the police while they were clarifying the truth on the street in Tiandian Town, Yingcheng City. Officers from the Tiandian Town Police Station took them into custody. The two practitioners are being held at the Yingcheng City No. 2 Detention Center.

16. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioners Unlawfully Searched at Xinglong Prison
On the morning of March 27, 2008, prison guards at Xinglong Prison in Mudanjiang City, searched practitioners one by one. Anyone who was found carrying Falun Dafa materials was taken away. So far, seven or eight practitioners have been taken to an undisclosed location.

17. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Hu Aiyun Taken into Custody
At 7:30 p.m. on March 27, 2008, Ms. Hu Aiyun, who lives in Zujia Village, under the jurisdiction of Gucheng Neighborhood Administration Office in Shouguang City, was taken into custody by officers of the Gucheng Police Station and the Shouguang City police. Her whereabouts are unknown.
18. [Shanghai] Ms. Kan Chaohua Suffers Severe Cirrhosis and Ascites of the Liver
Ms. Kan Chaohua is a practitioner who works at the Pudong Gas Company Ltd. in Shanghai. On January 6, 2008, she was unlawfully detained at the Pudong District Detention Center. She returned home at the end of February but has not been seen at work. It has been reported that within less than a month, she developed severe cirrhosis and ascities of the liver due to abuse suffered at the detention center. She is now on parole, pending trial.

On March 12, 2008, seven or eight police officers from the Beijie Police Station and Zhao Fengchen (male) and Zhang Shulian of the Lingyuan City Domestic Security Division went to Mr. Gong Dianjiang's home to harass him. Later, community officials went to his door to harass him again. The officials even went to the school to harass Mr. Gong's child. Mr. Gong and his family have been severely interfered with.

22. [Chaohu City, Anhui Province] Follow-Up Report on Ms. Wu Yulan
Ms. Wu Yulan is a practitioner in Feidong County. She was turned in to the police while clarifying the truth in the No. 64 Village in Zhongmiao Town, Chaohu City. She was later taken into custody by Zhongmiao Police Station officers. Her family learned from internal sources the following day that Ms. Wu had been transferred to the Chaohu City Domestic Security Division.

23. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Taizhen Sent to Forced Labor Camp Immediately after Being Taken into Custody
At around 9:00 a.m. on March 24, 2008, Ms. Yang Taizhen, who lives in Naxi District, Luzhou City, went to pay her electricity bill when a group of officers from the Naxi Domestic Security Division took her into custody. One of the domestic security officers made a phone call to her home and immediately sent Ms. Yan to the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong County, Sichuan Province. When her family arrived at the Domestic Security Division, they did not see anyone. The next morning, her family went to the Domestic Security Division again, and all they received was a notice that she was sentenced to one year of forced labor.
Several days before Ms. Yang Taizhen was taken into custody, there were two men staked outside her home.
24. [Jilin Province] Ms. Guo Shuqing, a Practitioner at Jiaohe City Coal Mine, Held in Detention Center
On or around November 20, 2007, Ms. Guo Shuqing and her son were taken into police custody. It has been learned that her son was later released. Ms. Guo has been taken to a detention center.
25. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Recently Taken into Custody
On March 25, 2008, officers of the Jiuzhai Township in Mengyin County, in association with officers of the 610 Office, broke into civilian homes and took into custody Mr. Zhao Shengju's wife and 60-year-old Mr. Ma Fumin, who lives in Majialiang Village in Jiuzhai Township. On March 27, the police took into custody Mr. Guo Changde and his wife, who are in their 70s. It has been reported that practitioners Mr. Ma Fumin and Mr. Guo Changde and his wife have been transferred to the Mengyin County Detention Center.
26. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] One Month after Trial at Tianhe District Court, Mr. Feng Zhigang Receives No Court Decision
About a month ago, Mr. Feng Zhigang, a practitioner from Huangshi City, Hubei Province, was placed on trial in the Tianhe District Court in Guangzhou City. No decision has been made on his case. Mr. Feng has been unlawfully held at the detention center for half a year. It has been learned that Mr. Feng has been held in isolation due to his physical conditions. He was wearing a hygiene mask throughout the court hearing. Inmates were instructed to beat him in the areas where he had previously suffered injuries or illnesses.
A dozen or so other practitioners unlawfully held at the Tianhe Detention Center include: Mr. Huang Qian, Ms. Zhang Aiping, Ms. Wu Zhengping, Ms. Xu Juhua, Ms. Huang, Mr. Zhao Litang, and Xiaopen (gender unknown).
