(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 12 cities and counties in eight provinces. This report covers 13 practitioners subjected to brutal treatment during their detention and at least 17 practitioners who were illegally arrested.

1.[Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhu Lianxiang and Others Are Illegally Taken

Several Falun Gong practitioners were taken away on the morning of January 29, 2008. Ms. Zhu Lianxiang, Ms. Yingchun, Ms. Mao Shufen, and Ms. Wang Huachun were released after each paid a fine of 1000 yuan.

2.[Fushau City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Xiuqin and Ms. Cheng Xiuchang Are Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiuqin and Ms. Cheng Xiuchang were "illegally arrested" in Qingyuan County during March 2007. Ms. Cheng is still imprisoned at the 9th Team area of Wujiabao Forced Labor Camp. Ms .Wang's whereabouts is presently unknown.

3.[Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhao Yulan Is Taken Illegally

Ms. Zhao was taken illegally from Kaifaqu Police Office during the late evening of February 8, 2008. She was detained in the Zhanqi Police Office on February 10, 2008.

4.[Nongan County, Jilin Province] Mr. Han Xixiang and Others Are Brutally Tortured in Nongan County Detention Center

Mr. Han Xixiang, Ms. Wang Xiuping, Mr. Li Fengming, Ms. Zhao Yushu, and Ms. Tian Guirong were imprisoned and tortured under orders of the National Security Team at the Nongan County Detention Center. They not only brutally beat the practitioners but also galvanized their feet! The victim's feet are first forced into a tub and coated with zinc. Then his or her feet are electrically shocked. This was done to try to force them to give up cultivation.

5.[Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Seven Practitioners Are Illegally Taken

All of Benxi City bureaus were established to persecute Falun Gong. Seven practitioners were taken illegally and imprisoned in the Caibei District Dabailou Detention Center during January 2008. Plainclothes officers and security guards patrol the communes and follow and monitor the practitioners distributing truth clarification materials about. ( Plainclothes officers and security guards can get paid up to 500 yuan for each practitioner taken.)

6.[Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yang Youlan Is Taken into Custody and Brutally Tortured

Ms. Yang was taken into custody and imprisoned in the Third Detention Center in Changchun City May 9, 2007. She has been sent to Teobei Public Security Hospital for emergency treatment twice. She shows the results of brutal tortures. The hospital has refused to allow her relatives to visit.

7.[Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yan Shufen, Ms. Yan Shuhua, and Ms. Wang Lili Are Handed Long Sentences

Ms. Yan Shufen, Ms. Yan Shuhua, and Ms. Wang Lili from Qingan Village of Shuangcheng Town were "illegally sentenced" for practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Yan Shufen was sentenced to 14 years; Ms. Yan Shuhua was sentenced to 13 years, and Ms. Wang Lili was sentenced to 12 years. Ms. Yan Shufen and Ms. Yan Shuhua are sisters, and Ms. Wang Lili is Ms. Yan Shufen's daughter.

8.[Haerbin City, Heilongjiang] Ms. Shang Wenru and Ms. Cao Yanjuan Are Arrested

Ms. Shang, over 60, and Ms. Cao, over 40, distributed truth clarification materials in the Erdaogou area and were both detained at the Erdaogou Police Office in Pingfang Town on February 3, 2008. Ms. Shang was interrogated by Pingfeng Town Police Officers and then released. Ms. Cao was interrogated by Erdaogou Police Officers. She was taken to Haerbin City Detention Center on February 5, 2008.

9.[Shandong Province] Mr. Chu Liwen Is Persecuted in Weibei Prison

Mr. Chu was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor and taken to the 6th ward of Weibei Prison. His relative, Chen Xiaodong, was illegally sentenced to two years and six months of forced labor by the head of Changyi 610 Office. Chen Xiaodong was sentenced because he was visiting Mr. Chu.

10.[Yuxi City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Zhu Huilan Is Imprisoned

Ms. Zhu Huilan was reported to the authorities when she distributed materials during the end of January 2008. She was arrested and her property confiscated. She is being imprisoned and tortured in Jiulongchi Detention Center in Yuxi City.

11.[Yibin City, Sichuan Province] A Practitioner Is Taken Away and Her Whereabouts Is Presently Unknown

Practitioners Mr. A and Ms. B were distributing truth clarification materials about Falun Gong. They were reported to officials of the Cuiping District and Jinping Town on November 21, 2007. They were taken away by officers of the Jinping Police Department and the Cuiping 610 Office. Mr. A was released that evening, but Ms. B's whereabouts is presently unknown.

12.[Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Wang Zhicai Is Persecuted at the Langouni Brainwashing Center

A former employee of Guiyang Mine Mountain Machinery Plant, Ms. Wang Zhicai, was reported for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. She was arrested and her property confiscated that same night. She was tortured at the Nanmingqu Detention Center for 15 days and then taken to Langouni Brainwashing Center.

13.[Huizhou City, Guangdong Province] A Practitioner from Huiyang Senior High School, Mr. Cao Jianshun, Is Imprisoned

A mathematics teacher at Huiyang Senior High School in Huixhou City, Mr. Cao Jianshun, was arrested when he was clarifying the truth on January 1, 2008. He has already been held for more than a month at the Gutangao Detention Center in the Huicheng District, located in Huizhou City.
