I became a Falun Gong practitioner in 1998 and would like to share my experiences with everyone.
In 2001, the police arrested several practitioners in our area, which resulted in my name appearing on the "wanted list." As soon as I found this out I left home and went into hiding. In my new environment I did not know any other practitioners, and I had no contact with practitioners. I felt terrible but calmed down after a while. I thought that the evil Chinese Communist Party (CCP) could not stop my cultivation practice and I cannot compromise my determination to follow Master home. I was confident that I could create a cultivation environment. My resolve to validate the Fa became even stronger.
Clarifying the Truth Face-to-Face
From that day on I began to post flyers in residential buildings every day. Several times after I posted flyers, I would see a group of people standing at the building entrance, and policeman were also on site. When I asked them what had happened, they said that they found some "anti-government" printing. I knew that they were talking about my posting.
I thought it would be better if I could talk to people face-to-face and prove to people that the Communist regime is lying.
The first person who heard my message was a retired serviceman who asked me several questions. I was able to answer all of them. I was initially so nervous that my heart was pounding, but soon calmed down. The young man's facial expression changed gradually from suspicious to trusting. He listened patiently. The compassionate energy field enveloped both of us, and he came to a complete understanding of the persecution. "Falun Gong is such a wonderful thing!" He expressed a strong disgust for the CCP's evil lies and felt great empathy for Falun Gong.
This success encouraged me to clarify the truth to more people.
While talking to a person about Falun Gong one day, I felt a pat on my shoulder and heard a man's voice, "What are you talking about?" "Just chatting," I answered without even looking back. The person I was talking to suddenly left. I turned around and saw a middle-aged man in his 40's. He told me, "I'm interested in Falun Gong. Can we talk?" "OK, let's talk." We sat down on a nearby bench. I could see a police car parked 20 meters away and realized that he was an undercover police officer. Since I often came here to talk to people about Falun Gong and to persuade them to quit the CCP, someone probably told the police about me. I asked Master to empower me and to eliminate the evil elements behind the policeman. Then I asked him, "Is Falun Gong good?" He did not answer. I asked again, "Is Truth-Compassion-Forbearance good?" He said, "There's nothing wrong with it." I went on to tell him about the Self-immolation hoax in Tiananmen Square. I also told him the story of policemen who followed the Gang of Four during the Cultural Revolution and how they were secretly executed in Yuannan Province later. He listened to me quietly. Finally he agreed to let me help him quit the CCP.
Prior to the summer Olympics, a government agent responsible for persecuting Falun Gong knocked on my door. In the past I never answered the door for these people. But after I studied Master's lecture I understood that many people have come from high levels of the cosmos to learn the truth. How could I not save them simply because they were persecuting us? They are only doing their jobs. But their knowing side is eager to learn the truth. I opened the door and invited him in. After 90 minutes of conversation he was convinced that the regime was lying about Falun Gong. Once he agreed, I helped him quit the Communist Youth League.
In the past few years I've tried to clarify the truth to everyone I meet. I would go out to clarify the truth to students at primary schools and middle schools during the summer after sending righteous thoughts at 6:00 a.m. I also clarified the truth to taxi drivers and commuters. I also took advantage of opportunities on Saturdays and Sundays when people were attending weddings. In the winter I normally go out after sending righteous thoughts at noon.
When we first began to tell people that heaven will destroy the CCP, and that everyone should quit the CCP and its affiliates to avoid elimination, people were scared. Later I learned to talk in ways that people could understand and accept, and it became easier for them to listen. I told them that Falun Gong practitioners are cultivators, adding, "You don't have to share our belief, but you should not oppose them. Later on, if you have trouble, you should recite, 'Falun Dafa is good.'" I also gave them a one-yuan paper bill that carries statements about quitting the CCP.
When my strong human attachments emerged I would have poor results in my truth-clarifying efforts. I might even encounter intimidation, threats and insults from people. Then I had to stop what I was doing and go home to study the Fa more, so that I could find my problems.
One day a fellow practitioner was arrested and was immediately sent to a forced labor camp. I wondered: Why was he sent to a forced labor camp instead of regular detention center? I went to the labor camp to clarify the truth, but the person I talked to refused to listen. He even threatened to detain me in the labor camp. After I came home I focused on reading the Fa and then looked inside. I discovered a wrong thought: I was accepting the evil persecution's procedure; that is, temporary detention to longer detention and labor camp. I was not denying the persecution by the old forces based on the Fa. This event made me realize that cultivation is a serious matter, and if our thoughts deviate from the Fa by a small margin the evil will attack us. I now feel that we must study the Fa with a sense of urgency.
Balancing Family Relationships
In 2001 I left home to avoid police harassment. Two years later, in 2003, I returned home and learned that my husband was having an affair. He told me to follow two rules: 1) I had to give up Falun Gong and be his good wife; 2) if I continued to practice, we would have to divorce. I told him I would continue to practice Falun Gong, and I would never agree to a divorce. My husband was furious. He pushed me onto the bed and punched me like a sand bag. He then dragged me to the ground and continued to beat me violently. At the same time, he kept asking me, "So you still want to practice?" I said, "Yes." Then he asked me again, "Do you still want to practice?" "Yes," I said. He hit me so hard that he was eventually too exhausted to continue. I knew that Master was protecting me all the time, otherwise I would have suffered major injuries. My husband remained a monster. He often assaulted and insulted me at home. Even his lover called me on the phone and insulted me. For a long time, I could not study and practice Falun Gong in front of him. Even sending righteous thought had to be done secretly. I would have to hide my Dafa books before he would come home, otherwise he might destroy my books.
One day my husband became exceedingly angry at me over a trivial matter. He yelled and screamed and threatened to beat me.
I thought, "Why am I afraid of him? I am a Dafa disciple." Right after this thought, he calmed down immediately.
I increased my efforts to study the Fa. I realized that the evil could control my husband and make him attack me because of my ego and faults and notions. It was not persecution from my husband. Once I realized this I began to look for my problems. I also sent righteous thought to eliminate the evil elements behind my husband. Finally my family situation improved.
My husband's lover came to my house and told me, "I don't understand; how come you don't hate me after all the things I did to hurt you?" I said, "If the evil Communist Party did not persecute Falun Gong, how could I leave home and leave him on his own, and leave him to take care of his elderly mother? We believe in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, I don't hate anyone." She was moved, "I want to learn Falun Gong from you." She eventually had access to Falun Gong books and exercise tapes.
My husband's change also surprised me. In the past, he refused to let other practitioners into our home and hung up the phone when they called. Now he is completely different. When practitioners arrive now, he brings out fruit as a treat for them. He also answers phone calls and takes messages when I am not home. Fellow practitioners can come to my house to study. My husband also wrote a statement to withdraw his membership in the Communist Youth League.
Establishing a Fa Study Group
Group Fa study is an important cultivation environment. All practitioners should make an effort to create this environment. Everyone should participate and do the Three Things required by our Master.
Four of us established the first study group in 2006. Later on the group grew to twelve people. Due to severe persecution in our area, the initial situation was tense. We could gather only when our family members were not home. Under Master's protection, the environment eventually improved and our study was more regular. Study and exchanging cultivation experiences and insights helped us gain a deeper understanding of the importance of reading Master's books and lectures, as well as the urgency of offering people salvation.
We would hold group discussions when we encountered difficulties in truth clarification or when doubts arose. Those exchanges helped everyone improve. As a result, we leave no room for the evil to survive.
One day an elderly practitioner who had strong fear joined us. Despite her fear, she still insisted on going out with other practitioners to clarify the facts. When they came back, she commented that she always treated things with a human mindset. Other practitioners helped her to improve her understanding of the principles of the Fa. As a result, her cultivation quickly improved. She told us, "If I see someone who refuses to listen, or if I encounter a dangerous situation, I am no longer afraid and tell myself that this fear doesn't belong to me; I also silently recite, "The Fa rectifies the Cosmos; the evil is completely eliminated."
CCP agents arrested a large number of practitioners prior to the Beijing Olympics - a desperate struggle intended to delay the CCP's demise. We gathered a few practitioners to send righteous thoughts near places where the evil concentrated. When our car had just started, a practitioner whose celestial eye is open saw Master sitting on a lotus flower. An umbrella-shaped cover emanating from the lotus flower covered our car. We knew that Master was protecting us. Once we arrived at the police station we erected our right palms and eliminated the evil forces. We pledged to offer people salvation and give the police an opportunity to abandon evil and follow goodness. They should choose a bright future. We then drove past a police station, a district police department, a prosecutor's office, a local 610 Office and the district government compound. Finally we arrived at a detention center holding many practitioners. Together, we sent righteous thoughts, and aimed our energy to destroy the rotten elements there.
