(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Lu Maiya, 65, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Kaifeng City, Henan Province. At noon on August 7, 2008, on her way home, she was arrested and searched by police who were staked out on the first floor of her apartment building. The police confiscated some Falun Gong material from her and detained her in Sanlibao Police Station. Those who have taken part in persecuting Ms. Lu include members of Keifeng City's Yuwangtai District Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Political and Judiciary Committee, Secretary Yang Zhiyong and Director Sun Xiangyang of the "Anti-Cult" Office of Sanlibao Comminity Administration, government employees of Minxiang Neighborhood Administration, residents of the community of Minxiang who are on "Minimum Subsistence Policy," and officers from Sanlibao Police Station.
At 7:00 p.m. on August 7, 2008, Director Yu Sheng and Deputy Director Li Lefu of Sanlibao Police Station led seven to eight unidentified persons to ransack Ms. Lu's home for almost two hours. They seized a copy of the book Zhuan Falun and other Falun Gong materials.
Ms. Lu's husband, Mr. Zhong Wenbin, went to the police station the following day and requested her release. He was informed that she had been transferred to a detention center, and that she would be able to go home in two or three days. She was actually detained for 15 days, during which time the police station sent a dozen residents of Minxiang to her home to take turns monitoring her husband day and night. For a total of 18 days, they followed Ms. Lu's husband everywhere he went. They didn't stop until August 25, the day after the Olympics ended. During that time, Ms. Lu's husband visited the directors of the Community Administration and Political and Judiciary Committee many times and pointed out to them that it is against the law to detain an innocent person as if she were a criminal. On August 22, Ms. Lu's family went to the detention center to pick her up because Ms. Lu had already served the full 15 days in detention. However the detention center staff told them that she had been picked up by the personnel who were in charge of her case. It turned out that on August 21, officers from the police station and 610 Office transferred Ms. Lu to the Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City to serve an illegal sentence of one year and nine months. One of the reasons given for Ms. Lu being sentenced to forced labor was that a large amount of Falun Gong materials were found in her home. This was a fabrication created by the authorities. They also rejected the family members' request to send Ms. Lu clothes and daily necessities.
